You forgot to mention a very interesting story about him. A few decades ago, when Tata Group entered the field of automobiles, the CEO of ford once said to Mr. Ratan Tata that Tata Group is good in iron & steel industry and automobiles were not really their thing. So he should sell his automobiles division to Ford. Of course Mr. Tata denied the offer... A few years ago, ford was in very bad conditions to manage the Land Lover and Jaguar brands.... and guess what... Tata bought both the brands from Ford. Since then the both the brands are doing a very decent job in the market.

Car drastically undersold because he calculated large percentage of sales in the US but he wasn't given permission. There is no real reason to make it illegal in the US other than fearing a sudden fall in gas/petrol sales along with other car manufacturers lobbying and paying government to stop him. Surely with prices that low for a car, you would sweep the market no matter how ugly the car looked.
This Tata car isn't just a great invention but an act of charity to all low income people who can't afford cars.
