- I got to meet The Professor at a meet up in Chicago last Sunday and he was playing fans in 1on1. This guy said he waited 10 years to finally play the professor and here's how it went down. After the game, he still went on to say that he should have won.

Why do defenders WATCH THE BALL? You watch the players hips. He's going where his hips are going. You don't watch the ball or the feet. You keep your peripheral vision on the hands to defend the shot. You get juked by watching hands and feet that can bait you in the wrong direction.
That's what I try to tell people when playing but they dismiss it saying its bullshit without even trying it out then get broke every time

Ryan Comito No problem bud. Remember though, if you've been doing it for a while then you're going to have to break the bad habit of watching the feet and the ball. Your instinctive reaction will be to fall back to the old way. So practice it every chance you get so you can remember in a game.

Man I just sat here and watched Professor travel over and over off the first step. He establishes pivot then takes off from the other foot w/o dribbling first. Overall he has great skills he's doing what so many others do but it's traveling.
i agree with you man but in the NBA they might not call that shit.... not that hes gunna be in the NBA lol. But alot of street ball moves involve illegal moves. i mean and 1 is full of carries and double dribbles and reach ins and travels.
Yeah streetballers take liberties with standard basketball rules... the display of skills and therefore the show is more important to them... They travel and carry a lot and it is tolerated.
That's why street balers stay on the streets top level are always taking overseas guys cause they know and execute better down the stretch not this one on one approach that street balers take where no one plays defense yet everybody wants the ball on offense!
lifting your established pivot foot is not legal in the nba or any other sort of actual organized basketball in the US...it isn't just a European thing.

I'm sorry, but I've grown to like Grayson more over the years. He seems like an okay dude and I think he put a lot of work in; if you play basketball, you can watch someone play and know if they can actually play. The dude can play. People don't understand that their are different levels of skill to anything, because they've never experienced it. You kill at the rec, but the difference between the rec and high level hs ball or college or nba? Something I see is Grayson playing with dudes at a high level, street ball or not, all those dudes are high level (could all play in nba? idk, not everybody is Rafer Alston), and those dudes seem to like and respect him. I don't think committed ball players respect someone who can't play. I think to some level he's the token white dude (it's def made And 1 money, helped push street ball) but i don't think that's the whole story.
