anorourke what is she referring to here? Did he do something other than jack off after asking people if they were okay with it? This doesn't sound very devastating. I was on a train the other day and a teenager was jacking off. This is illegal and I made it out the other side without being devastated.
Well thats subjective. People exist along a spectrum. Whats devestating to someone might simply be amusing to another. Thats where we must judge and have codified standards of behavior based on the effects that actions have on others. Murder is nearly always devestating to those who care for the victim. Grevious assault is understandably devestating to nearly everyone who is a victim of it. Rape as well. Spontaneous exposure of genitals WITHOUT permission or in spite of such consent being denied could be outrageous to most people. Being in a position or creating a situation where consent, though ostensibly sought is contextually coerced could also be considered an insult upon a person deserving of social reprecussions. However devastation also occurs along a spectrum and that must be considered as well. Sometimes one persons deveststion is so niche or outre as to unfortunately not be worthy of or reasonable to commonly observe. So lets say the woman in new zealand who sued her neighbors for psychological harm because shes a vegan and a antisocial person and they had social gatherings physically confined to their properties where they also cooked the flesh of animals. She is worthy ostensibly of respect, but her parameters of defining others permissible behavior is so unreasonable as to not garner a social protection there of or provide a recourse for such should she decide that shes be infringed upon. So when these women say that his behavior devestated them, i have to say, im sorry that happend to you, im truly sorry you experienced something like that. But i cant share the outrage you feel based on how you described the situation. If you give uncoerced consent to an action or describe the perceived coercion in such vague and subjective and insubstantial terms, i cant agree that i would feel insulted or assaulted in those same conditions. Theres a difference between personally sympathizing with someones subjective experience and socially empathizing with them to the point that action is taken against the 'accused'. I can have sympathy with someone who had a bad day or experiences something that is odd or even repulsive. If someone says they saw a repulsively ugly and disturbing looking person on the bus and they want to vent, i get that. We can laugh at how ugly this person is and make up all sorts of narratives about them and have a high time at their indirect expense. If they say hey there was this ugly person on the bus that just by their existence in my field of view insulted me and i think we should hunt them down and chase them off and ban them from polite society and create such a ruckus over it that they are outcast forever. Im gonna say, hey, did this person make you stare at them? Did they follow you into your private spaces and stand before you commanding you to look upon their ugly visage? Did they send you unwanted pictures of themselves? Did they physically restrain you and hold your eyes open and make you look? Oh they didnt do any of those things. They even asked you if you wanted to look at them and you said you did? You say you felt it would be rude not to consent or that without evidence you thought they might become angry or violent if you refused? Well i can understand how someone very ugly might offend your mind, but they have DONE nothing to your worthy of the actions you propose. This is essientially what louis is guilty off. Being the metaphorical ugly person. Ugly can be subjectively devestating to people in a very visceral way. Even though they may seemingly willingly observe it or even interact with it, they can actually do both things at once. They can be permissive of it while being repulsed by it emotionally. Socially those two things MUST cancel each other out. This is why its possible that some people were 'devestated' by his actions but he doesnt bear responsibility for that.
I'm on Louis' side like most of you, but be honest about this. Imagine you're a girl, and someone you respect asks to jerk off in front of you, at the least that's gonna make things awkward for both of you, even if he's being polite. Specially when the guy was married at the time. You're gonna feel down, you're gonna be disappointed, and you're gonna lose some respect for that guy. Now to us, that's just f*cking hilarious. That's Louis being Louis, creating awkward situations. That's what made him, his stand up, and his show funny. But if you're one of those girls, that's gotta suck.
@@nheORIGINAL Joe's doing his job as a host. It's a balance on when you challenge you guest vs when you roll with them. Your goal is to dig into their opinion, and he did and she tripled down, so he weaved in the pocket so he could keep the show on track. The only time Joe doesn't do this is when weed is being questioned lol. That's when Joe gets aggressive because he's too invested :D.
Louis has gotten his punishment already. Everyone knows what he did. His daughters knows what he did. Their classmates will constantly remind them about it. When he goes outside, he will always know that maybe 30% of people that recognise him, hates him. People lump him together with bill cosby. Let the man now on now. You don't have to like him, but don't actively try to take away his career anymore
The thing is. I dont even care he did it. If he was not getting so damn damaged by this i bet people would make jokes about it to him. Its like getting caught jerking off in the high school toilets. its embarrassing but it aint over.
As a lady, I don't have a single female friend that is mad at what he did. Nor have I met anyone in person that told me they were mad. It's just internet people...
@@leanna3625 Yep. I mean, he jerked off *in his own room* and he *told* the two women that were there that he was going to do it beforehand. He warned them and gave them a chance to leave. When they didn't, he thought they were interested. Then they tried to cry foul afterwards. It was a BS situation, if you ask me. That's why anyone with a brain who read the full details of the situation isn't mad at him. It's not like he randomly started jerking off unannounced in someone else's room in front of them. He was in *his own room* and *warned them* ahead of time, lmao.
This title is slightly misleading, as she says he'll be okay and expresses that he did it to himself, mentioning the people whose lives he added "devastation" to.
Oh really? Is it slightly misleading? Is it a habit of yours to point out minor or perceived inconsistencies of others? Did you slightly watch the whole video?
Tikus Keriting Louis and Chappelle has got to happen eventually. People have been wanting them on since this thing started. Would be awesome to see Joaquin but I don’t think he’s into having a long public conversation like this. Dude barley enjoys interviews.
@The Sentient Mustard They were consenting adults who consented to everything he did. He wasnt their boss so technically they are as in the wrong as him
@The Sentient Mustard hi! sorry to necro the thread, but I'm bored and it's the apocalypse ;) I don't understand your general position and how it might be consistent. I have some questions if that would help me understand. 1. Would you consider Bill Clinton to be a rapist solely for the Monica Lewinsky situation? 2. Imagine a hypothetical single billionaire businessman with a lot of different businesses, some of which hire and employ extremely attractive female models, spokespeople, actresses, hosts, etc. Who is he allowed to have sex with, and who can he practically actually consider having sex with given his knowledge of your position and any of its ambiguities? 3. Women can be attracted to powerful men, including men they work with. In fact, working together could show a woman more examples of the attractive traits that her coworker has. Under what circumstances can two people who work together do disgusting weird stuff together that neither of us would necessarily be interested in? interested in your general position and thoughts 😊 be well.
There were one or two sketchy situations with Louis being handsy and propositioning interns/crew members when he was in a producer/director role... ... sketchy.
Apparently, he was reluctant to get political. He should have listened to his gut, because, like Dan Harmon, he's overcompensating for _something_ bad.
Agree, Judd Apatow is a fucking cancer. His early movies were good, but ever since hes been kicking comics out of their slot times at the store hes been a fucking annoying tool bag.
Please somehow, some way, someday soon GET LOUIS C.K on the show! I guarantee that there are 99% more people that love him than hate him. We love his comedy, his shows and everything that he does, so please give him a chance to talk to us for 2-3 hours!! Like this comment so maybe Joe or Jamie will see ✌
Did you end up seeing it? I have a tinfoil hat theory that what was done to Louis CK was done to suppress that film. Particularly the two scenes where Louis and Malkovich's characters "mansplain" feminism to a clueless teenage girl.
Actually the left has agreed yes doesn't actually mean yes. If they hold more power, etc, etc they have no rules or facts or truth, everything is feelings and personal truth.

It depends on power dynamic. It’s wrong if you are superior. If you say no, you can’t know if it affects you, thus there is pressure to accept
@ It doesn't matter.. she still wasn't forced to do anything, she accepted. Maybe they should take some responsibility, instead of always playing the victim. Also coming forward 10 years later saying: "oh I was actually victimized and have a lot of trauma buhuu" Get the fuck outta here snowflake. These women just capitalized on this whole metoo bullshit.
How can Nikki say Louis’s ticket sales haven’t been affected? He went from making $52 million a year playing the Garden and having a TV show, to playing Governor’s in Levittown on Long Island!
It's standard practice for comedians to do shows at comedy clubs when they're developing new material. Judging off the rate of work that he was doing prior to the scandal, he probably would've put out another special by now, so you can argue that his ticket sales have been hurt that way. I think that it's only a matter of time before he's back to selling out arenas though. In my opinion it's more of a delay in his stand-up career than it is causing any real damage. His TV and film career will definitely take longer to recover though because networks and film studios are pussies when it comes to putting controversial people on screen, but I think that'll be back eventually too.
JRE Please get Louie CK on your show!!!! He's back and he is a amazing comedian and actor and I believe he deserves to speak his truth and his true fans deserve to hear it. please like everyone if you agree.

I don't forgive Louie, because he didn't do anything wrong.
He didn't hurt anybody or do anything illegal but it's still pretty fucked up. What goes through the mind of someone who thinks it's OK to just casually tell two coworkers "I'm going to jack one off in front of you now if you don't mind" and proceeds to do? Sane people don't do shit like that. He did fuck up, even if the response was way overblown.
Sérgio Alves that isn’t what he did. He would ask and if they said no he wouldn’t do it. Just shut up before you actually read fully about something. Buddy, there’s a reason the majority of people support Louis. Stop
Joe Clarren they don’t care about the facts though, it’s just popular to be in on cancel culture nowadays. People don’t have shit going on and want to make other people’s lives shitty like theirs. I’m all for anyone rebounding from being stupid or making mistakes but if you don’t give him the opportunity, what’s that say about you? That’s just my take on it
i honestly thought louis' parkland joke was hilarious straight off the bat. i get he was working on the bit, but i just thought it was funny as it was.
What's funny to me is one of the kids, Grietch, or something said "wheres the joke?" When he was the fat kid being pushed out of the way. Fucked up but I still laughed
Louie did nothing wrong. If the roles were reversed and men were saying they felt abused by a woman who asked them if they wanted to watch her masturbate and they agree to it nobody would care. Hell they would even belittle the guys for it.
he partly did cause devastation. He is really really admired in the comedy world. Like i would say along the lines of Chris rock and dave chappelle level. So to all these aspiring people you could say he was their michael jordan. So for him to jack off in front of them like that is a sort of devastating but thats basically like "michael jordan is an asshole". I have all MJ posters then i met him and he is an asshole and im devastated. Doesnt mean shit that he was not the person you thought he was in your mind but that what happens when you put "people" in pedestals. So louis CK is just basically caught in the firing lines of the #metoo movement. unfortunate for him
@@iiDetour Honestly, I'm a straight man, and I wouldn't be devastated if Michael Jordan or Louis CK jerked off in front of me. I don't even think it would affect my day, and I mean if he actually broke into my home and did it in front of me.
He's actually going to perform this November here in Israel, and I've bought a 4th row ticket. It was sold out after 20 minutes, and he opened up another show after. Both sold out. Sorry but I can't wait!
Joe is often cited as being a defender of Louie, and I suppose in contrast to his attackers, he is. But Joe always says “What he did was wrong, clearly, but he didn’t deserve what he got” or something along those lines. What’s he do wrong joe? Hey, when someone asked you if you wanted to try DMT and you said yes, did you call NYT? Clearly you should. The Louis case is more important than Louis, it’s a signal to the rest of men about the level of trust we can invest in provided consent. It inspires paranoia and fear in a culture where men are expected to initiate relationships. Louis isn’t Weinstein, and neither are _most_ men. I don’t defend him as a fan, I defend him on ethical grounds.
Hey man, I’m hoping to understand your argument. You say this feels like an issue regarding “trusting given consent.” The NYT article does feature a time when a women technically agrees Louis’ request. (And I think not taking into account power dynamics would render an incomplete view of that situation). But the rest of the incidents are Louis continuing his desired actions in lieu of consent. So I’m wondering if I misread the article, or if you have a different opinion regarding the accusations?
Louis missed a big opportunity. He should have called it "the COMEback tour". Or, "Let Louis Handle it". Or even "well ok I guess you can do it in front of me, means YES tour"
Well here is the problem. Louis truly regrets ever having asked coworkers to watch him masturbate. Long before he got called out, he stopped doing it and admitted after that he shouldn't have put them in that position. So he isn't going to make a joke about it because he takes that serious. Just like his latest routine where people got it wrong. He didn't joke about kids that got shot. He joked about the kids that didn't get shot. It's kind of like seeing on the news about someone getting killed by a drunk driver and them interviewing a witness on how they almost got hit by the driver and how that makes them feel and need a few days off from work.
@@anacrobat89 Because stand up is a small part of what he does. He also creates, produces, writes and acts. He was removed from two shows he created Better Things and Baskets. He hasn't produced or written for anything since 2017. He made regular appearances on talk shows, SNL and even on Jeopardy. All of which he hasn't done since 2017. You think all of that is a coincidence?
What did he do though? He beat off in front of women he asked if he could beat off in front of them. It's weird, but...how delicate are these women that they can't just say no?
As much as I hate what happened to Louis, selfishly it was kinda cool to see him in a small venue a couple months ago. I saw him back in 2013 in a huge theater, so it was insane actually getting to see him so close and I got to shake his hand...he has soft hands lol.
Louis will be fine amongst the comedy community. He probably wont get any shows or movies anymore unless he makes it himself, but at least he always has stand up to fall back on.
I was on a plane once, and there were these two babies crying behind me. And after about two hours I turned around and asked them why they were crying. And they told me. They told me that, they were crying because the gays are getting married.
3:20 - thank YOU Nikki, speaking truth. Sure we don't have to kill the guy, but he knows he f'd up and he knows its an eye for an eye kinda world. He's a big boy. It ain't fun, but he knows he did some not cool stuff.
she finally conceded in the end. she spent 7 minutes talking about an eye for an eye and she didn't feel bad for him, then at the end, she agreed since joe wasn't giving up.
Louie did absolutely nothing wrong. It was a weird act between two CONSENTING ADULTS, so just because what he did, most of us would deem weird at best and disgusting at worst, no crime has been committed, no pain has been inflicted. And no I won't believe the so called "victims" just because they regretted it later, Louie didn't force them to do shit.
The recorded Louis set was about 40-45 mins. While it didn't sound like the Parkland bit was making its first appearance outside Louis's brain, it was _definitely_ still a work in progress. I'm sure he would have buttoned the bit up beautifully had it not been for the backlash.
Louis CK did nothing wrong whatsoever. Consenting adults can get up to whatever they want to get up to. He asked for consent, he received consent, and then engaged in this consensual activity with other adults. Louis is completely free of any blame or malfeasance on any level. Making "an example" out of this guy destroys the good done by confronting actual bad acts done over the years by entitled types.
Owen Benjamin has been all over the place and people try to cancel his shows. I liked his stuff but I don't follow him anymore, either way he should be able to work. Same with Louis CK, I'd go see him, just in a public format with lots of people around.
What he did was creepy and wrong but people should serve their penance proportionally and address the underlying concerns and hopefully move the conversation along. I like Louis CK but he’s always had a dark side to him but he’s not a real psychopath/sociopath like Harvey Weinstein, the Trump family, Ari Shaffir who is on the line probably on the sociopath side lol (I’ve had friends like him, it’s tempting because they’re fun as hell but they’ll almost certainly harm you at some point and quite possibly severely via social engineering or deception or whatever), but yeah I don’t think Louis CK is that. He’s more of a sad creep who wants to be a good person but just can’t help not being a prick sometimes. I do think he should try to really explore what happened and come to some important conclusions because Louis CK is truly smart enough to make some progress on confusing complicated issues like that.
barney rubble nothing like weinstein. Yeah what he did was unethical, but simply put they consented to what he did (yes definitely his power was the reason) but Louis didn’t rape anyone or ruin lives. I’m not justifying what he did but you can’t say it’s anywhere near Weinstein
She just makes tons of sex jokes and is somewhat attractive. That draws some people in. I have found her funny a few times though, despite overly relying on one type of joke. But yea, she's not like the greatest comedian of all time or anything.
What a sad state we're in. Outrage mobs came after me too. They were always of the same variety: feigning anger or outrage, but about what, they can't say exactly. As Dave Chappelle pointed out in his last special, it's celebrity hunting season. They do it to anyone famous and even semi-famous. If they think they can harm you or cancel you, they'll throw everything they have at you. Fortunately I'm pretty insulated as a chess author/professional player, but they did their best and failed to take me out.
Interesting strategy they use. Lie about everything, because there are no consequences. But once you become a journalist or a critic, you are also a public figure! So I think that these people will suffer very bad consequences.
Just have Louis on the podcast already!!!! (yes, it would probably be controversial but at least it would give him a platform to talk about what happened and people might finally move on and let Louis be Louis)

How can Nikki say Louis’s ticket sales haven’t been affected? He went from making $52 million a year playing the Garden and having a TV show, to playing Governor’s in Levittown on Long Island!
He's selling comedy clubs consistently for nearly a year.
Shes dumb
It's standard practice for comedians to do shows at comedy clubs when they're developing new material. Judging off the rate of work that he was doing prior to the scandal, he probably would've put out another special by now, so you can argue that his ticket sales have been hurt that way. I think that it's only a matter of time before he's back to selling out arenas though. In my opinion it's more of a delay in his stand-up career than it is causing any real damage. His TV and film career will definitely take longer to recover though because networks and film studios are pussies when it comes to putting controversial people on screen, but I think that'll be back eventually too.

he partly did cause devastation.
Hey man,
I’m hoping to understand your argument.
I wish she'd finish her sentences...
Louis was one of the only ones to admit he was wrong and what he did.
Louie is currently touring clubs and working out a new hour so he hasn't named a new special yet. Not sure what opportunity has been missed.
