Same issue here. I installed an empty mag and had to yank back hard with both index fingers until it flipped open. I won't be using the dust cover any more!
After reading these comments awesome. But mine last year and didn’t get till February. Kind of pissed. Barely going to shoot it tomorrow and it got jammed. Pulled really hard multiple times and finally opened. Thanks guys
I had a different problem with mine. When ai pulled the charging handle the little rubber nub that catches when you close it flew off along with the tiny little spring inside the catch. Now the whole little cylinder that latches just falls out and the dust cover won't close. It's not a big deal if it stays open all the time as I keep the gun clean and doesn't affect how it shoots. I'm most shocked I didn't lose the rubber piece or that tiny little spring😂
Mine did it when I brought it home. I would guess you solved your problem by now. But just a drop oil on the detent ball that locks the cover in place and cycle it a few times. New guns tend to have semi dried oil in places that cause exactly what you are experiencing.
@@thesunrisedriver1683 I just went to one of my local gun shops and put one in my hands. It had the same issue. I could not get it to release with just steady pressure. I had to jerk it from the start and then it would open every time. After I did that a few times it started to operate better.
Correct way is to take a knee grab the rifle with one hand by the hand guard and the other on the charging handle putting rearward pressure on it. Then strike the butt of the rifle on the floor, should pop open after a few strikes. I had the same problem was able to unlock this way. Don't close the cover unless there's a round in there.
The clip has be in then charge it and will pop right open
I had the same problem with mine just dabbed some gun oil on it and did it a few time and got better
Put empty mag than pull on it it will open
OMG!!! Thank you for the tip!
That’s it that’s all

Just pull the charging handle sharply, the groove 9n the bolt is designed to open the dust cover...

Mine was acting the same way. Add some lube and just pull hard on it multiple times. It will loosen.
Guns are ment to be rough with. Just pull hard. 🤙

Guys I solved the problem by slightly filing the point where the flap closes ✌
i had the same issue with getting the ejecting port. i used a knife to open mines.
Pull charging handle hard. It will open. Or put empty mag on and pull hard…
Ive had mine for almost a yr, a few thousand rounds thru it. run it, clean it, oil it, run it some more...and that will go away sir.
Have you tried a lubricant?
Call Walther.
Thanks, I didn't think about that.
