Your 964 currently looks very nice and crisp. Personally I would leave it as. But I fully appreciate Nakai-san's craftsmanship and creativity. The line up before take off was a pure treat!👌🏾
Dino, I think you gave the perfect answer when you said "I can understand why people don't like it, I do. So, there's no question for me there." As long as you like it, that's all that matters. We only live once, may as well do what makes us happy and enjoy it as much as we possibly can. I watch your videos cause they make me happy and I always enjoy seeing the amazing cars/builds/places you show us along with the people behind them and the story they have to share. ♥ If you do go the RWB route, maybe a Dino DC cutout like the 61 on the rear bumper might be an idea to consider. ^.^
I'm not sure what's been going on lately with the internet having alot to say about nakai's practice on the Porsche, but to me it seems like its mostly come from the people who are unaware of Nakai-san's background in racing and his influence in japan. He rebelled and revolutionized what it means to modify and DIY in your own authentic style. Its not meant for preservation, but perseverance against what would be seen as a crazy thing to do to a stock Porsche. Can't wait to see the journey yours takes you on!
I have seen 2 kits being fitted by Mr. Nakai in person so I can see both sides of the argument. 100% it is a style, a culture and definitely a vibe, and I personally like the look of the completed cars. On the other hand the workmanship is unexceptional. There's nothing wrong with it as such, but it is very basic and unrefined work he's doing. A lot of it is "rough" as per the entire brand. People go on about how everything is done by eye and he's a master craftsman etc: 1. He definitely measures stuff. 2. Anything he does by eye is no different to anyone else who has honed a skill doing something over and over. I think people are just mad that someone with a bit of $$ who likes what he does would pay so much money for what really is a hack-job. But the people who pay for what he does are perfectly aware of that and they don't care so it's hilarious that others care so much. Porsches aren't exactly rare, and those complaining who obviously love 911s would 100% modify theirs if they had one. The whole situation is hilarious.
@@LuckyFruitRacing Basically. It is art, form over function. I would argue the line is drawn when chopping up a perfectly straight 930/964 for the sake of culture...but then there is this pesky thing called free will and all so 😅
It'd be a shame to lose that clean look you're getting on your 964... I'd personally much rather see a clean, OEM+ style as personally, having seen the Rauhwelt conversions since before the Internet was really a thing, I can't help but feel it's been done and is getting played out by now... Just my opinion though and I'm sure it will look good whatever option you choose.
You only feel that way because it's the internet and everything is saturated but let's be real. Rwbs are extremely rare. When's the last time you ever saw one in public on the roads? At cars and coffee? Probably never.
Love those conversions. As a German seeing those random German words strung together on a car is always amusing - but the craftsmanship behind all this is amazing and a joy to watch. Can't wait to see your fully converted 964.
When deciding the direction for my car, I drove to a place special to me, shut out the world and just focused on the car and what I wanted it to be for me. It became clear very quickly. You do whatever you feel is right mate. Loving your work, content keeps getting better and better 👍.
Hey dino. Please keep it oe, that little car is beautiful the way it is. A nice restoration and keep it rolling into the future. Don't cut it pal, no way back once it's ripped into that's it gone forever.. 😢
I'd go for the RWB style. Naika"s story and you covering him for as long as you have is unique and I'd imagine, a very special relationship. that story itself is enough reason as why you should go for it. When he is no longer here, you may regret not doing it. just a thought...
Going RWB with your Porsche is a great move, if I were in your position, there’d be no second thoughts. Once Nakai’s time is over creating his work, I believe there will be no replacement and they’ll become valuable works of automotive art that can be passed down to generations.
About your car please keep it stock! Regards from Bulgaria! I imported a few 911 from Japan auction. 2x 997 Carrera, 2x 997 Turbo and 991 Turbo S. The car culture in Japan is amazing.
I love Nakai-san creations...you should definitely go for it...regardless of positives or negatives...his creations are an enduring part of car culture - as are yours 😎
i remember seeing my first RWB in person in 2013 at SEMA. Ruby Color at the Toyo Tires booth and it was a 964. Absolutely gorgeous car. You don't owe anyone to preserve the way a car looks that you own. I would do it in a heart beat if i had the means for it.
None but ourselves can free our minds🤙🏼 LOVE RWB, LOVE THIS CONTENT, 100000% respect your passion for da craft. Can’t wait to see what YOU choose for YOUR RWB build🤙🏼 Aloha🌴🕊️
I think if I was in your shoes I'd keep the car almost exactly as is. Sure it's not as low or race-styled as it could be, but I think there's a lot of beauty sitting there already, it's got great lines and in a way does have a bit of a sense of utility in it's current form, slender fenders and high ride height.
Nakai san originally just did his 930 the way he wanted, enough people wanted him to do theirs too. I think it's strange that some people get so upset about that. I think you should go for RWB if you like it, you've definitely been a great impact to where RWB is today and it only makes sense to go through with it. I see it more so supporting a friend and his work especially because you've seen RWB before how big it is today.
The timing of this video is interesting, as it contrasts with what I've been seeing about RWB lately. Chicken wire affixed with dabs of window weld, haphazardly chopped fenders with no rust protection and fiberglass kits bolted on with self-tapping screws straight into the panels and sealed with window weld. I know you have a good eye for quality stuff so it'd be interesting to hear what you make of those critiques and videos floating around, never seen one up-close but I mean, from 10 feet apart my car looks awesome, I'm sure it's the same with those and for some it's all that matters. To me, the way he works is more akin to the way one would fix their car after it sustained damage during a race, rather than something designed to last.
I take Nakai’s approch, concentrate on what I like, enjoy it and not pay attention to negativity. No matter what and how you do it there will always be someone that complains
18:57 😀 One of best youtube channels on whole world. Thx Dino. Whole time I am just smiling and you bring this smile to me. Awesome content bro. I am so happy.
Dino Dc wanna bout my opinion. Well that Porsche 9eleven yellow looks spanky to me. Might wanna give some wheels new xhaus, little bit tune up on them body kits front left to left and back, no RWB style. This one is special for Dino Dc sir😎
I think that everything you would choose would look great on your car, but if you go the RWB route and for the racecar looks you should back it up with at least an update in the engine bay if not even more tuning. And it would be very cool to see other shops you covered in this build like garage TBK and maybe even their bumper.
A "narrow" RWB kit would be a great compromise. I would really like to see the manual conversion (and maybe some additional power) before the RWB kit is installed. You're going to need that to turn those giant new RWB-spec wheels!
Thank you for this video. I didn’t know that they had a Porsche experience center in Japan ask for me. I’m about five minutes from the experience center in Los Angeles and I love it over there every time we have our car shows which is probably every three months. Well watching you from the big island of Hawaii, but I’m from Los Angeles, California.
About a RWB idea....there is A LOT of 911s. But RWB is so special, so unique, so charismatic piece of art...it won't leave anyone cold. I have no desire to have porsche. I have BIG DESIRE to have some RWB. I wish you the best of luck with your choice.
RWB is undoubtedly part of carculture. I personally like the looks, but the quality of his assembly work, or at least what he is proudly presenting online is something I personally could not bare on a toy car. I hope they do it better when there is time and not a 2 day insta trip.
Big fan of your channel Dino, and big fan of the 964 RWBs too… so it’s all love, BUT based on how you talk about it in the video, SOMETHING tells me that you feel like you SHOULD have an RWB more than you WANT the RWB… I could be totally wrong, it’s just a humble observation. Either way. The 964 is beautiful without any body work. But out of all of Nakai’s designs, the 964 is still my favourite till this day (mainly because of the 2015 Need for Speed game) And this is coming from a 997 owner. No wrong decisions here. Just make sure you’re 1000% with it!
You should also feature Sunburst Takeru Inui who also makes wide body porsche before the rwb craze. Ppl need to notice his work kinda different approach in making a proper widebody old 911.
Ill always have loved Nakai-san's work! Where can you get a complete custom styled Porsche with widebody in 2 days.. Most shops take 6months - 1year. What he does with cars is amazing. Cant wait to see what you car looks like. Hopefully it shuts the inet up!
Old people will tell you to leave it, youth says mod, I say do whatever you want. It’s your toy, and if it’s available and funds are there make it happen. To all the arm chair cowboys, don’t build what someone else wants, you’ll never be happy unless online waiting for comments…..much love Dino, looking forward to seeing where this leads.
If you go Rwb, I would go standard kit with 935 style front and NO wing, just a ducktail or like Jonsibal a turbo wing (still amazed we haven't seen more of those). It would be special as a refined approach to the rwb style and a bit more old school compared to all the angel wide and huge wing conversions we've been seeing everywhere on the web. That being said, the 964 has really aged well as the last "slim" body Porsche. By any means its a dream car whatever you do with it !
Have a look at Phil from Driftworks 964 with the smooth RWB kit, it works beautifully with the shape without being crazy. Look forward to seeing which way you go with it 👍🏻
❤❤😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 that’s a bad ass 964 take care of that beautiful thing nice and shiny and clean. That’s the way it should be enjoy have a good day. Good week.
if thats my 964. i would do the manual conversion first. then enjoy the narrow body with some outlaw touches here and there. then consider the RWB route much later on.
I would to see you make out of your porche build. No matter what you do it will be what you want it to be which is awesome 😎 go with what your heart tells you if you really want a Nakai-san build go for it...of course a good RWB build simple yet Nakaisan.

A lot of the 964,930, and 993 cars have turned into rolling art. Kinda lost the soul of the RWB motto over time. Plenty of OEM+ options as well. Cup car pieces, RSR, RS America, 3.8, tubro/turbo s. Even Tuner and body kit companies like Promoddet, TBK, Abflug, Veilside, etc.
Here’s an idea mate: keep the yellow 964 for your restomod project, and buy another cheap high-miler 964 and go full on RWB ! i know, i know, ridiculous idea.
Just curious.. why haven't you sorted your aircon? You've been upgrading the car which is awesome but, why melt? lol As far as going RWB, I'm on the fence. The car looks so nice as it is but then again I love what Nakai-san does. I'd love to see what his narrow offerings look like. Maybe you can point us to an example? I do like an OEM+ vibe.
Because after having been “fixed” twice we’re still back where we started. Need a rethink of how to approach it, something I’ll touch on in a future video
man I'd keep it more of a factory Porsche wide body. As much as RWBs are very cool and personalized, if you did RWB do the narrowest body Nakai has haha. Either way we know it will look trick.
I think you already made your mind up by considering it again. Just do it, you love the look. You embrace all car cultures so why not do something that is you. Some will say don’t cut up your car but if your car is not a rare model or limited edition just have fun with . You already have an r34 so why not make the Porsche you? Garther various styles and create your own design.dont let other whole you back, you seem to like it a lot a lot so go for it.
I wonder what Nakai-san is up to these days? Regarding Nakai-san’s RWB brand, how does he handle the criticism from Porsche enthusiast who does not like his brand? Based on your articles that I’ve read from Speedhunters, he seems so relax and laidback when he does his things. Also, what made him decided to make a kit for 997? Nice content as always 😊.
He’s not fussed about opinions, just does his own thing. The 997 was needed because the air cooled stuff is getting expensive as well as customer requests
Your 964 currently looks very nice and crisp. Personally I would leave it as. But I fully appreciate Nakai-san's craftsmanship and creativity. The line up before take off was a pure treat!👌🏾

Wow, thanks!🙏
Given that you have been covering RWBs for so long and have seen the growth firsthand I think it would be great to have an RWB in your collection
Sounds like you want the conversation, it's your car don't doubt your self
Yes go RWB on your car . I love Nakai's work .
Just got on my lunch break, get to enjoy some food and outstanding Dino content, thanks for everything bro ❤
Appreciate it 🙏
Just do it brother, full send! You love Rough life, and you deserve it.

Nice. More Porsche content please 😁.Thanks Dino!
I think it would be cool since you were one of the people that covered RWB from the early days.
You have a great looking car, I would only do a RWB if you encounter body damage.
Dino you threw me with the orange glasses ..brilliant episode as usual 😊
lol
When you drove through the tunnel 😂😂 hilarious. Baahhh baahhh 🔊🔊🔊
Great vlog in the porsche event. I suggest you should feature Sunburst porsche. They build wide bodykits in Japan
Why not? As they say. At the end of the day, it's a functional piece of art.
If you really want it, go for it bro! Who cares what others think. RWB will really complement your GT-R!
Please do this. I absolutely love your videos and if you had a yellow rwb my god man
Nice. More classic🎉
I would to see you make out of your porche build. No matter what you do it will be what you want it to be which is awesome 😎 go with what your heart tells you if you really want a Nakai-san build go for it...of course a good RWB build simple yet Nakaisan.
That crunch when that guy was reversing his Panda. Ouch.
It’s a feature 😂
The perfect day,
I've been to a Porsche experience day in the UK, its a track right next to Silverstone, wish id paid to use the GT3 RS.
“Quite peckish” a true international.
😂
I'm here for the journey!

I remember that Nakai use to do a Backdate kit for the 964 that I did not see on the last decade or more. I do really love that look and if I had the money and a 964, I would go for that with the "narrow" spec.
It’s an expensive conversion
Would love a twin exhaust setup my man with some 3 teiligen porsche rs wheels ❤maybe some sexy yellow and the “pagoda”stance😅
The NA2 R unicorn. Damn
When you said the silver air cooled car was unmolested - there is your answer to your RWB dilemma ;)
lol
Go for what you like and what you want not what other people like or want😉
Love the the kits but go the smaller kit as your porsche looks perfect as is
30:53 the man really does know his shit sick panda😂😂
Panda rocks
I feel that what your missing is that 964 wide body. With that full personality and that bespoke name and genisequ
My thoughts on mods are, it's your car, build what you like. You getting Rwb or keeping it stock is not gonna affect me.
Greets from Switzerland Dino! 👍💪✌
BTW, I love that yellow, it's so special.
Greetings back!
30:20 love the S2000 as well, also in yellow!
NSX R, wow...thanks for all the nice shots, thank you Dino.
Great vid 👍
I seen nakai glue a tow hook on a car recently thats crazy
His cars are for wealthy small dicked nerds who are trying to achieve some kind of coolness factor..
Customer request I’m sure
Just don't go too wild wide...just sublimely rwb vibes
RWB all the way
In all honesty dude, its ur car and you can make it as uniquely u as u want….. RWB all the way i say
do what you like!!
Speedhunters arthurs and contributors are making bank, larry just did 180k restoration to his gtr, now dino is doing a 100k rwb conversion
your grammar is as horrible as your math 😂 your numbers are way off..
Might want to review those numbers lol
Me as an American hearing Dino say it’s 911 day
“Hmm”🤔
🥲
Do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dino da GOAT 🐐

the car need a manual first and if it was my car i would rather go for 3.8rs replica and first start by getting all the internals right.
If you do chose to go w/ the RWB conversion I hope you go somewhere between the OG “race versions” and the more modern take on them in terms of show car flash.
If you love it, just do it, ignore all the hating on RWB 🔥🔥🔥
Here’s an idea mate: keep the yellow 964 for your restomod project, and buy another cheap high-miler 964 and go full on RWB !
i know, i know, ridiculous idea.
This was the cheap high miler lol
❤️
Go for it. Love RWB
Great video, is the end of the year December or so a good time to visit Japan?
Yes definitely
I wonder what Nakai-san is up to these days? Regarding Nakai-san’s RWB brand, how does he handle the criticism from Porsche enthusiast who does not like his brand? Based on your articles that I’ve read from Speedhunters, he seems so relax and laidback when he does his things. Also, what made him decided to make a kit for 997? Nice content as always 😊.
He’s not fussed about opinions, just does his own thing. The 997 was needed because the air cooled stuff is getting expensive as well as customer requests
