When I wrote to you the first time, I think that I told you I went to see him live in 2019 New York City.
He performed at the Barclay center arena, it holds twenty thousand seats, the entire middle of the arena is all open, that's where his stage was set up, this area in
front of the stage holds another ten thousand people,
Dimashs concert sold out in less than 10 minutes.
When I said that Dimash has a power like no other...I wasn't kidding.
This arena was so packed with people of every age, just as many men as there were woman, there were people of every race and culture.
I met a few people who flew in from other countries to see him,
a few of them were from Istanbul, there were people like myself who drove to New York from other states, the electricity in the air was so palpable you could feel the static of little shocks when people rubbed or bumped into you, like those little zaps you get sometimes from the static in the rug or television, it was crazy wild.
Back to his Ethereal power ..... the lights start to flash with changing colors and the band was playing for his appearance for " us" the audience
People were crying, they were screaming Dimash, I am talking about men also, as all of this intense energy from our souls filling this arena I could feel this light current of electricity flow into me racing up and down my entire body and it stopped in my soul and this warmth went from my soul to my heart my mind my body, I never ever experienced such a feeling in all my life, then I started hearing other people talking and saying they felt an pulsing energy go into their bodies and their soul some of the people way over across the room were saying they started to feel hot, I 'm telling you this was an experience
What I saw next will stay with me always.
So all of this talking and excitement is going on were enjoying each others company we were all sharing in a conversation of thirty thousand people
Then the lights became bright and Dimash was in front of me, honest to God..... the entire place halted to a dead silence, we were all focused on Dimash and listening too him
it's like we were all hypnotized. I have seen great concerts in my many years of life
I have never ever seen anything like this, I'm not sure if I told you but I have been a nun for fourty one years, I
took my vows when I turned sixteen years old, from that very day I was living and serving in over eighty five countries around the world, I have seen just about everything "if not everything".....
from humanities most evil,and the very best of human compassion
empathy love and kindness.
There's nothing in this world like that experience, it was special,not from earth
from our creator.
I noticed something when I first started watching Dimash.. I am sure you will notice if you haven't already
But Dimash absorbs the energy around him then he reaches up and out his head back drawing life from our Universe. I hope you will get to see him when he comes.

I prayed all night for God to heal you and take Covid out and away from you, I hope your feeling better, I really felt afraid for you... this disease is no joke, I have lost sisters all around the world who died a miserable and very lonely death from Covid they suffered terribly.

Thank you so much for this incredible description of your experience in New York! I've never heard anyone describe it so perfectly to convey the feeling. I have heard many say it was life-changing! I was able to go in person to his concert but sadly was not able to stay to see him off or welcome him to the States at the airport but fans always are there to greet him. He is so humble and so down to earth when he greets fans.
How do people even know when& where to greet..?
@@lolawants2008 I think the fan clubs get the information out and they always have a pre party like the night before the concert also. I would have loved to have been able to go there because sometimes his mom, and sister come, some of his back up singers sing etc. Looked like it was a wonderful time but due to works schedules at the time it was not possible. I was happy just to fly in the day of the concert but right back out the next morning. Rush trip but so worth it.

@@anahills3836 The cost of a ticket at least in New York was not bad at all. I chose to sit but the floor was for those who wanted to stand and tickets were amazingly low for that but if they got there hours and I means hours early they could stand very close to the stage. The cost was the airfare but it was his first concert in America and I could not miss it. Then... %&$(&&!! covid. I just know he would have been back by now had that not happened. I do hope next time it is not in New York as being from Texas I was COLD!

Autumn Strong is not the same lyrics though, the two songs just use the same music… The Japanese version is the original song and it is not about the Chinese Actress

For Diva Dance: As people have already pointed out, there are several versions, the 3 most famous are from the "Singer" (the show where he sang SOS and broke through overnight, he combines it with the Italian song "Confessa), the version from his Bastau concert (first(?) big solo concert, even better than the Singer version, because on Singer he was recovering from a sore throat) and to completely blow your mind the version coupled with "Drunken Concubine", he sings it with Li Yugang, a Chinese opera singer who plays the female role here. Weird and crazy cool!). You can watch them all in one reaction, the Diva Dance song is very short.

Dimash truly transcends language. Even without knowing the meaning, the feeling is conveyed beautifully. I’m looking forward to your reaction to Diva Dance. Since it is short, you may wish to set up a few different versions to watch back to back. My favourite is probably the version from Singer when it was preceded by Confessa (I’m not a huge fan of the dancer, but the arrangement of these two pieces is great!). Dimash has also sung this as a duelling duet (I believe paired with Drunken Concubine or something like that…. I’ll leave it to someone else to confirm the title). Back to Ikanaide, I agree that this feels like a hug: tender, soft and supportive, before the strength and passion of Dimash’s vocals set in. This was - I’m pretty sure - Dimash’s first time singing in Japanese. The song’s story is based on a true-ish history and touches on a sensitive part of Chinese/ Japanese relationships. @@aymoonchild7573 you’re welcome! I’ve been watching Dimash for a while now and haven’t come across anything bad at all! Most of us dears are protective of Dimash, but usually pretty respectful. Just try to avoid any of the videos from World’s Best. The performances may have been really good, but many of us lost respect for the “judges” for their treatment of Dimash. You’ll likely hear from someone else the details, but Dears are usually quick to steer you away from that show. Cheers!

Koji Tamaki's solo "Ikanaide" (Don't Leave Me Alone) single from November 1989.
It was used as the theme song for the Fuji-TV 30th Anniversary commemorative drama "Sayonara, Ri Koran", a biography for the singer Yoshiko Yamaguchi who had gone by the name Li Hsiang-lan or the Japanese Ri Koran while living in the Republic of China around World War II.
This particular song would probably be the quintessential Tamaki song showing off that remarkable high range. Since its release, it has been covered in both Mandarin and Cantonese by a number of other singers.

This is DQ's favorite song. The lyricist wrote, I think in Instagram, that he has raised this to a new level, given the words a depth of meaning that no other artist ever has!! The main lyric is 'PLEASE DON'T GO" So he's pleading in this song for his love not to leave him....I have involuntary tears EVERY time I listen to this song. DQ has the voice of an ANGEL.

"Ikanaide" means "Don't go, please don't go" and yes it is a very sad song. Its about a singer / actress who was born in China to Japanese parents. After WWII she was tried for treason and exiled to Japan against her will. She stayed away from China for the next 20 years but deeply missed it. This was Dimash's first public performance of the Japanese version of this song. He has in the past performed the Mandarin version, a song called "Autumn Strong". I was one of the few who suggested this song to you in your 1st reaction and thank you for doing another great reaction. The first time Dimash is singing Japanese (apparently perfectly!)
Dimash's mother is an renowned Opera Singer. His father a accomplished musician, singer and teacher. Dimash has been at his craft since he was 3 years old. Not to mention his grandparents influences. Dimash has a degree in Arts,namely Kazakh cultural music. He recently completed his Honors with highest possible marks ever given in Kazakhstan. He wants to pass on his knowledge to the Kazakh and world youths. At 27 he is a legend and he doesn't have to prove anything. I see he has a concert in Dusseldorf ISS Dome on 9th April 2022. Germany will get to see him.
Hello. I'm surprised no one corrected any of your information. His mother is not an opera singer, but she is classically educated. But a lot of people think she is. His father is not a teacher, but his grandmother was (Dimash calls her mom) Dimash started his music education when he was five years old. Since he was raised by his grandparents, it was his grandmother who was responsible for his early music career. Dimash studied pop and jazz music, not Kazakh culture music, and he received his master's degree in composition. After that, he began his doctoral studies. I don't know if he's done with it, but I don't think so because of the pandemic. As far as I know, he was planning to take his doctorate in the US.

The song is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. She became famous in China. However, once the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy and she was deported back to Japan and didn't go back to China for many years, as it was forbidden at that time. Ms Yamaguchi did return to China in her later years as the Japanese Parliamentary Vice Minister of Environment. This song is saying goodbye to her Chinese name Li Xianglan. The song is a metaphor, as lyrics speak of how a person has to hide what feels inside.

IKANAIDE means 'please don't go’. The lyricist of the song recently said of this performance “each Ikanaide sung in the song is meant to have a different emotion, dimash is the first non-japanese vocalist to truly understand that and interpret the song accordingly”. Dimash is always breaking the rules. He’s supposed to close his mouth on the end of the note. The vocal teachers say teaching vocal lessons in the era of Dimash. Dimash uses vibrato however he pleases. He does everything first and the vocal coaches line up to tell you what he did then they send their students to Dimash to learn. And then the students call him “Maestro Vocalist” which of course he is. I’ve heard in the past classical singers complain about breathy singers, but you see how he started the song with so little breath the mic was the only thing bringing the sound to our ears. And it’s always new. It’s brand new. He surprises every singe time. The song he sings the most is “sos” and it’s never the same. I think the song means so much to him. This was another very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" did. Dimash sang “Ikanaide” for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in January of 2021 from what looks like his studio at home. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash’s pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is “expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese”. Goro Matsui who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way.
Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series “Farewell, Li Xianglan'', filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress, and singer during World War II, who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched.
She resettled in Japan where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years.
In 1990, “Ikanaide” was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title “Late Autumn”. In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn", with lyrics written by Daryl Yao.
Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 “I Am A Singer” competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong". This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.
