Sidari beach is not dirty, what you see is dead algae and where sand is suppose to be is hardened mud mixed with sand, meaning the beach was flooded not too long ago also that specific beach at its best is never clear because the waters there are more nutrient rich and has more living organisms especially algae. Some locals prefer to swim in those waters because it's good for the skin.

The Greek islands are my holiday destination of choice and I have visited eleven separate islands. When I was in Corfu I stayed in Sidari and the beaches were pristine from memory but that was nearly 25 years ago so plastic pollution was not the problem it is today. We were in Kos this time last year and again the beaches were clean and stunning so I guess we were lucky and the water was really hot so swimming was a pleasure. With regards driving in Greece in the dark our flight from Kos to the UK was around midnight Greek time so it was very dark on our coach journey to the Airport and our driver was training to be a race car driver so much so the passengers at the front of the coach all put their seat belts on as he tried to overtake a car on a blind bend on an unlit barely two car width road. I would still always holiday in Greece as the food is always spectacular outwith all inclusive hotels.

I think it's so important to share the less glamorous locations like Sidari beach. On social media we are so often served up the highlight reel which isn't a true representation of the region. I just hope that the tourism that you and other channels like yours bring to the region, allow the local government to clean up the area and restore the natural beauty! Btw I've been looking at AG1 for a while now BUT I had no idea that they were made in NZ, I'm going to use your link to try it out! Thanks guys 🙌🏼

But Ipsos is more central to the entire island.. but the beaches weren't as beautiful and didnt have as nice of a vibe.. but .. both.. honestly are great..
If you want to sit on a beach all day.. I'd go Paleokastritsa, but if you want to explore the island... Ipsos is more central from memory :)

Looks like you didn’t enjoy Corfu that much. So out of the three (Corfu, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos) - which two would you choose if you like nice scenery and hikes ?

We did enjoy Corfu, it was just BIG and spread out!! 😅 Out of the 3x island there was LOTS to see at Corfu! But we also loved the other islands too! Now that you can go down to Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos, perhaps Kefalonia would be better out of the two islands!

Hi Kristina great video, but just some information. The boat you said was Parsifal III is not, as Parsifal III is not a 3 mast square rigger, but a ketch. The clip from you inserted from "Below Deck" showed a furler, which might not be on the boat in your video due to the small mast with the communication equipment. The first plane that came in to land was not a jet, but a Turbo Prop the last plane was a jet and I'm sure John will agree with me. Keep up the good work, but in the voice overs just make sure your facts are researched.

Some of the comments seem a little snooty, like your boat was 5ft bigger and a few put downs about the town, but I respect your opinion.

Lovely video. Great shots and clips. I do want to make 1 point to the beach you where bummed out on. If there is a storm, it sweeps up sea grass, and anythnig else that may all get washed up a shore. but the result is that the waters then still are murky and the beach with dead seagrass and so on. This by the way is very normal. This same beach can look completely different just a few days, weeks or few months later. So by no means does this beach and water colors look like this all year around. You can have the most craziest of beaches looking less right after a storm for example. Just saying.
Generally almost all beaches in Greece are incredible on average. Greece has the most incredible and crystal clear coastlines and by far the longest in the mediterranean. It also has the highest annual scores for water quality in all of Europe together with Cyprus and Malta. And malta is half the size of just Corfu. So, Greece is the only nation in this top and yet with bizarly high quality of waters of 97%.

Thank you, I completely understand what you mean 👌 It wasn’t really the beach colour, and the sea grass.. it was actually the amount of plastic and rubbish on the beach. You can see it all in the sand on camera 🥵 I mean, perhaps the plastic gets swept up too? But it was so dirty with human trash it was very sad to witness 🙃

Yes that is what washes up. Its a thing common to pretty much any nation around the world with coastlines. And then currents matter and also bays. Some areas/places are much more prone. Also close to populated areas the chance for things to come back after a storm also increases
And lastly. Greece is mountainous(80%). All of the storms with sometimes very heavy rains creates often floods that can also take things down to the sea. Greece in general is still clean to very clean and annual water quality reports regarding just the water also shows it too. But still, there are still areas where its not perfectly clean. In my eyes you shouldnt find anywhere a single piece of trash. Nowhere. Its good but it can be better. I have good faith
