[14 July 2022] He must have been relatively young when he recorded this; he sounds a good deal smoother here - more pop, of course, but also (somehow) also more assured - than he would later on in his career. Even though I only started listening to Perry's music recently, I admire him so much. Oh, that great outrageous genius and magus Lee "Scratch" Perry, The Upsetter, who lived like a trickster out of a myth, though he was a real man. R.I.P.
@@frankmorales4147 not a pure classic rocksteady structure imo, its close. But on The fills that happen at times it has reggae structure on that bar. Cut that out rinse repeat and its reggae. The bass is also pretty much a later wailers / bob song cant place it right now, might be stir it up, yes not exact but close. Not that bass structure matters in terms of what genre it is. Its also mixed as sparsley as reggae often is. But sure both reggae and rocksteady can have gritty mixes. To me this is like 5years ahead of its time at least even though The vocals is far from stellar and The tune aint all that, the idea off it way ahead of its time atleast from what i heared. Dont get me wrong its an ok tune but its not people funny boy level.
Man, a couple of years ago, id check YT for this song e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y; sometimes more than once...
