Hi, just discovered your channel. Thank you for your work. Are you belonging to an east/SW asian people, and if yes, which one? (I would like to see animated map with all big linguistic groups of Asia😍🙏)
Just a note. Not all the northern iberic regions were populated by basques, only a small portion of them, which were relatively recently colonize by basque speakers from Navarre (since the inhabitants of modern day Basque country were celts, no basques). In the northern independent regions regions there were mostly basques and cantabrians and asturians, the last two of them being celtic. Aside from that, awesome video! Source: i'm cantabrian xd
good video, nice job fixing it. Wish: I wish you would have added the early Vandal (aka Lugii) legends of origin, to whit: they claimed to start near Stockholm as part of the Geat group, along with the proto-Goths and Gepids, then move with them to Bornholm isle, and then move to the germanic coast near the Vistula or Oder estuary. Then their legends had the expanded Goths and Gepids move toward the Ukraine, while the Vandals (aka Lugii) and other tribes moved down to Czechia. From there they invaded the collapsing Roman Empire years later, move into Spain with the Suevi (who went into NW) and Alans, where your excellent video starts.
oh, and the Alans: Alans were indo-iranians from the steppe in Central Asia, then moved west into Ukraine as part of Sarmatian group. Later the Goths defeated them, then the Huns, then with collapse of Western Rome part of Alans invaded Spain allied to Vandals, along with Suevi, and then into North Africa where they merged with the Vandals. The part of Alans that did not invade Rome later became a kingdom in Caucuses until the Mongols. Ossetians in the Caucuses claim to be their descendants.
The original video actually told the true history of this period (it involved aliens but I can’t say more). It was censored by RUclips, hence the black screen. I was thus forced to upload this alternate version, without the aliens
To be fair it was almost entirely Roman in character. The very tight ruling class were Vandals but they had been Romanized for a very long time, and the rest of the population were basically fully Roman or Roman-Berber
@@sean668 Not really, or at least it's questionable: African-Latin was the Roman dialect of the region, but Neopunic was spoken around the same frequency while other languages such as various Berber languages were widespread & would survive both of the mentioned. Ethnically the absolute minority of people were Latin either... The government functions of the Vandalic state were very Roman in terms of political character if you mean that. The Vandals themselves culturally Romanized in part, but the region rather became a melting pot with Romans themselves changing. Linguistically the Vandalic language would only end with the Eastern Roman (cue "Byzantine") invasion, as a combination of many Vandals getting caught up in what was basically a genocide, while the surviving rest incorporated into the Berber states ahead of the region being conquered by the Rashidun & Umayyad empires.

*The origin of Vandals is Scandinavia not Poland*
