    Hi Owen. Another bench seat four speed! 390 hp with the triple carb setup must have made them hard to beat at the strip in their day. Where did you find it?

      I drove to Chicago for that Road Runner in 2012, found it on ebay. Yeah, Mopar put bench seats in four-speed Road Runners all the time, it's just normal. When I bought the four speed bench seat GTO in 2017, I figured that it was normal in Pontiac as well, until I joined the GTO Forum. I like four-speed cars, and I prefer bucket seats, but as long as it's got a four-speed, I don't care much what I'm sitting on. I'm sitting on a couch right now. Couch or Lazy Boy recliner? Either way, I'm good. Are those references lost on the UK? It's been too long since I've lived there, do you say couch or sofa? And I doubt many La-Z-Boy recliners were ever exported to the UK, seems pretty American to me. My Granny in Wales never had one.
      My Road Runner is a pretty heavy car with 3.54 gears, I think there were lots of cars by 1970 that were geared better, and weighed less, with just as much or more horsepower, but in Lemon Twist Yellow with black racing stripes and the air grabber hood scoop, it would have looked the part. Not to mention the pistol grip shifter, talk about bold styling.
      Of all my cars, it's my '63 Corvette that really would have been the stoplight to stoplight contender back when it was brand new. 11.25 : 1 compression, solid cam 327, 340hp, Muncie close ratio four-speed, 4.11 posi, all from the factory in a fairly light car. Not too much in 1963 would have taken it, not counting the '55 Chevy from "Two Lane Blacktop" and "American Graffiti". Plenty of hot rods on the streets of 1963, but if you go back in time and line my '63 Vette up against the other factory fast cars of that year, I think the Vette beats almost all of them. You had the 409 Impala, and the 406 Galaxie that turned into a 427 Galaxie by 1963 1/2.......but those are full-sized cars, and heavy. 260 and 289 Cobras were on the streets in '63, but they didn't make very many, probably rare to spot one. The 413 and 426 Max Wedge Mopars were out there, and that's a mean beast in a mid-sized car with 425hp, Mopar didn't hold back. Still, my Vette would have been one of the quickest cars in town, back in May of 1963...........depending on the town. Unfortunately, my Vette was originally sold to an engineer named Ron Burkett in May of 1963, and he lived in Los Angeles, which is a pretty big town, with lots of fast cars. The dealership is still there in Inglewood, CA, at 636 South La Brea Ave, well the building is still there. It's no longer Century Chevrolet, it's now a Budget Rental Car.

      And that's the full history of my '63 Corvette. I wish I knew the history of my other cars, especially this Road Runner. Just look at the Road Runner pics of the transmission tunnel, someone removed the four-speed hump, then cut the tunnel out of an automatic B-body Mopar, that has the bracket for a floor console, so it was a bucket seat car that they took that tunnel from. Then they used that automatic car's transmission tunnel to cover the hole in my tunnel, where the four-speed hump was. Then they torched two holes in it anyway? Why two holes? The rear hole for a floor mount automatic shifter? The front hole, because they went back to a four-speed? Hell I don't know what they were up to, but it was fun to fix the mess that they made. I do know one thing for sure, a previous owner at some point (and after the transmission tunnel episode), decided that green cars were better than yellow cars. Lots of green on that car when I bought it. Well, once I get the car painted Lemon Twist Yellow, that will be the end of that chapter. It's good to have things to look forward to.

      @@owenrobertson The split window is a beautiful car. I drove a convertable 65 fuelie for an afternoon maybe 20 years ago. I was offered the car for £10k but decided against it. Would have been a great investment. It had the reg FAB 11. Do you know Thunderbirds ? A British puppet show? Look it up and you will see why that reg was so right for the car.
      I owned a black 78 sugar scoop project for a couple of years before lack of space made me sell it. It had been crashed front left and needed a new flip headlight. Too expensive to fix at the time so it moved on. I only bought it to stop the guy selling the motor and scrapping the rest! Apart from my 58 Edsel that's my American car history. So far!

      @@keithhoughton4308, Nice, yeah, Thunderbirds are go! I never saw the tv show, but I think they made a Thunderbirds movie or two in the 60s, that used to air on our tv channel that also showed old Godzilla movies on Saturday afternoon. So I've known about the Thunderbirds since I was a kid in the '70s, but I'll have to look up FAB 11, because it doesn't ring a bell. "FAB 1 is the name given to the six wheeled, pink Rolls-Royce in the Thunderbirds TV Series. Owned by Lady Penelope....", that's what the internet says. Fun show! I've owned three British cars, but they were all Alpines. I don't think I could drive a '58 Edsel, that's a bold move. I'm bold enough to drive the '61 Studebaker I recently purchased (once I get it running), but an Edsel? I don't know if I could pull that off, there's some over the top styling in that car! :)

      Owning an Edsel in the UK was pretty cool. Mine was a white over light blue 2 door hardtop Ranger. I loved it and used it to tow my comp altered dragster back in the early 90's. Quite a big rig for UK roads!
      The biggest drum brakes I've ever seen on a car and a pedal you could get both feet on. (No brake booster of course.) A lot of fun to drive with half a dozen of your friends on board.

      @@keithhoughton4308, that must have been a sight, I wonder how many 1958 Edsels there were in the UK back then, towing a dragster, no less. You get all the cool points for that one. I like it! I like my Studebaker too, but it's still a work in progress. Here's where I'm at on that one:
