  • Check out this trail cam update from Missouri Ozarks! Watch as a big 10 point buck visits a soybean plot on Kapper Outdoors land. Don't miss out on this exciting footage of deer in their natural habitat! #trailcamera #soybeanfoodplots #ozarkshuntingland
    Finally! While I've been way behind the power curve on our new 575 Acre Southern Missouri Ozark's farm with food plots and trail cams, today I will get just a little vindication! I knew there had to be some mature bucks on this property based on my research and intel on the surrounding properties, and the fact that Missouri has had a minimum 4 point antler restriction in place for many years which has really helped to improve the deer age structure in Missouri. Today's episode is just one of my soybean food plots and just 3 days worth of trail cam footage, but at last, a mature buck on camera!
    This is a massive life undertaking and we'd love to have you join us for all of the adventures as this time we will be documenting and sharing the entire journey! Thank you! Here is some background from the last few episodes in case you are new to our channel:

    That's the way all our bucks are,Joe. I have seen several come in down the road on both ends. Over half of them last night were laying down in the tall grass. The only section I haven't mowed. The beans are too late to make it. Those hay fields plow and disc them up first then grow whatever. Only way to get rid of the hay grasses.

    That nine going ten has a nice spread. I was surprised to see all were in velvet still. Here in eastern MO I’ve seen shredded velvet on the boss bucks in late July. That’s firsthand fact. Maybe none of those is the boss? Now that’s encouraging!

      Best of luck! Honestly velvet bucks don't turn me on too much as they usually disappear when the fall patterns come into play. It is after that when I get excited about a good one on camera!

    • @KapperOutdoors2.0

      Sorry on the cams, but it is bs since they are cell cams you can't just change that on the camera itself, it has to all be done with the app, and if the cell cam don't get cell service its a pita! I will do a cost share update as I'm trying to cram a full land cost share program in asap.. Thanks

    Have you thought about putting in tillage reddishes? They would be good to interseed with the beans you already have growing. A bit late in the season but would give some decent winter forage for the deer.

    • @KapperOutdoors2.0
      @KapperOutdoors2.0  18 дней назад

      Yep I have them in my ninja mix! For my first plot I have I think 9 different seeds :) But now its hot and dry!

    • @WhiskeyKing813
      @WhiskeyKing813 18 дней назад

      @KapperOutdoors2.0 for your "throw n go" plot, set your disc to cut straight slots first, then spread it just before a predicted rain so hopefully the seeds wash into the cuts for soil contact. Not full on tillage but extremely minimal.

    How long do you think you can kee that big 10 in the gene pool before harvesting? Be a shame to lose that mount to CWD or something. That would be a tough call for me on which way to go.
    Curious in the question though as i am no longer able to hunt and I have never managed either. Still enjoy the hunting stories and the game management, I'll be here watching you. Thanks.

      Thanks for joining us! Hard to say! For me, I'd put him on the wall if I had the chance but it is soo early that we may have multiple nice mature bucks hanging around. And as I get my fall plots planted I will draw in deer from long ways during the season. Just hope mother nature cooperates with my fall plots! Thanks man

    You didn’t show the current growth of the soy beans and I couldn’t see them very well in the trail cam pictures. But looks like there’s enuf deer to have a decent amount of browse pressure.

    If that's all from the one food plot what else is hiding out on the property 🤔 gotta ask wouldn't the beans have a better chance direct drilled into the pastures and leave the grasses to protect the beans till they mature a bit 🤔 I know nothing about food plotting but just interested from an agricultural point of view 👍

    • @KapperOutdoors2.0
      @KapperOutdoors2.0  23 дня назад

      Well good question but so far the answer is no. I have several plots that way like you describe but the hay is taking all of the moisture and nutrients. So them beans are really stunted, even though they are hidden from the deer

    Hay Kapper what part of southern Missouri u located? I’m in south central part just above Arkansas state line. If ur not to far away I would like to catch up with you sometime maybe visit the 500 acres I hunt on and see how maybe I can spruce it up and make it more attractive to keep the deer on it

    Kapper were having a killer antler growth year this year in missouri in my opinion that 10 point is 3.5 which is perfectly ok if that's what your looking to achieve but your area can produce 170 inch deer with age

      Good to hear! Yeah, it could be a 3 no doubt but for me I'd probably put him on the wall just to get one on the wall for our new MO farm! But I suspect there will be much better soon! Well long story but them cell cams you can't just adjust them on the 'camera' itself. They have to have cell coverage and use the app. But they don't have cell coverage! Ugghhh.. But hey, I'll manage I might put out old school cams!
