    What is a capo? Info here www.andyguitar....
    A ‘capo’ holds down the strings at any fret on your guitar. This allows you to still play the chords you know, but they will now sound higher. This is great as it allows us to many more songs than we could without the capo.

    I am a keyboardist/pianist and I am learning many guitar stuff as I found out sometimes we don't speak the same language.
    Though it is amazing how many guitarist choose not use it and prefer to play in an 'easier' key rather than use a capo.

    Andy, that's for all the great lessons and videos. Regarding the capo, I am seeing lots and lots of different material out there, rosewood, aluminum, composite, etc. Would you recommend one over the other? Thanks in advance man.

    • @oopsie2439
      @oopsie2439 4 года назад +5

      michael johnson I’ve ordered a rosewood. I’d suggest getting one that does NOT have springs. These wear out after a while and you’ll need a new one. Though before you get a capo, I recommend making sure you know that it will fit your fretboard :) and that it doesn’t press too hard, make buzz noises or scratch the neck of the guitar.

    Hi -- not sure you're still tracking comments on this one, but you mentioned that a capo changes the key. Technically, it's just changing the pitch, correct? Key signature is more purely related to the sharps/flats and scales. This just adjusts the pitch to make it easier to accommodate other voice registers or instruments, right? Thanks

    Hi Andy, I’m a newbie guitar player. I just know a few basic chords. I’m learning Every Rose has it’s Thorn by Poison. I learned that the band has their guitar tuned down a half step for this song. When I do that, the guitar sounds just like Poison’s version. However, it’s way too low for me to sing. The question I have is, will the song be better for me to play a half step down with a capo or normal with a capo or does using a capo make the question irrelevant and should I just play around with it until it fits my voice?
