I love shopping by bicycle. It was fun to see your shopping time. We don't have as much cycle paths in the UK but I still use my bike for shopping.

I really enjoyed this! It's fascinating to see other countries. You really live in a nice place--the bike paths are incredible.
I would love to see more of your country. You should do bike tours all over the place!!
Thank you for sharing. And as always--nephew is adorable.

Most bike paths are set up so that you have very little, if any, interactions with car traffic. And those bike paths are often the most direct route to get somewhere, with cars going the long way around. Different modes of traffic have wildly different routes they'd take to reach their destination. And it also really helps that unlike for example the United States, where there's just one or two massive stores on the outskirts of town, that everyone needs to travel to for anything they need, we have many smaller stores spread out all over town, so you never have to go far. That makes cycling much more feasible. In my city (just under 80,000 people), I think I have close to 20 supermarkets to choose from, and I'm not even counting smaller Asian or Middle Eastern markets in that, or stand alone bakers, butchers and greengrocers, street markets. Or the farm shops on the edge of town. Fresh food is everywhere, just a few minutes away by bike (or even on foot).

@@PaulvanGulik it is plus it's great exercise

It's such a low impact way to burn some calories. It doesn't even feel like exercise. In fact, it's so low impact, that it doesn't even get my heart rate high enough for my health tracking app to register it as medium to high intensity work out. So really anyone can do it!

Very interesting. The scanners are handy. Can they tell if you haven’t scanned something in your bag?

With handscanners like this, the system will just randomly select people for a spot check. That is enough of a deterrent in most areas. In areas where there is a much higher chance of items not being scanned, there will not be handscanners, you just scan everything at the check out terminal. In that case, you have to put everything on a scale after you scan it. This is the much more annoying way to do it.
