Great review Lewis! Both great guitars with their own unique voice. I own the Taylor, and would own the EC, but find the neck very uncomfortable for my hand.
Good point, the V shape neck definitely isn't for everyone! Including myself it turns out, currently trying to sell this EC partly because of this. Thanks for watching 🙏🎸
@@LewisDickenson Funny, tho I haven't played one in years, I remember it as a very "hard" "D" shape... But it did sound lovely. That said, with my 70's damaged hearing I settled on a 614CE which I love.
@@edtaylor7816 I believe they call it a "Modified V" so it's possible it's more rounded than a normal V and feels more akin to an intense D shape like you say! I've never tried a 614 but I'm sure it's great. Taylor are very consistent from what I've experienced so far 🙏
@@LewisDickenson Yup, kind of felt like a 2x4. Then again, my hand aren't that largest... Yes, if you've played one Taylor, they all feel very much the same.
The new V class bracing is great! I've played one once and it was a beautiful instrument. Mine is a 2015 model so before the new bracing, as you say. A comparison between the 2 would be very interesting though.
I like several things about this video, but my pet peeve is string squeaking, so that is what I payed most attention to. Seems to me you have some focus on this, lots of movement up and down the neck with out any squeaking. There was some minor ones, but not the nasty high pitch ones, so kudos :P
I definitely find it a more versatile instrument and it's the guitar that I still own today, unlike the Martin which I sold. Why is it your preferred choice as well?
And please let's not forget to mention, Lewis Dickenson's fabulous, tasteful, versatile playing :)
Thanks Joshua! Appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed.

That's a nice old taylor 814ce but it dose not have v class bracing like the new ones. You need to give the new one a try. I love mine.

Nice! I'll buy both then, Thanks!

Thanks Martin! The dreaded string squeak haunts us all...
Taylor wins, in my opinion

I love the Taylor sound. much more pleasant to my ears
