    DISCLAIMER: By no means am I an expert! I am just going through the motions and taking anyone who wants a ride along for the journey. I have finally put what I believe to be a pretty comprehensive video together of a lot of things needed when starting in this industry. I won’t say all things because I’m sure I missed a thing or two, or ten lol but this is a good starting point for anyone looking to get in on the ground floor. If you have anything to add to the video, please let me know in the comments below 👇🏼!

    Great video. Also know this. The trailer rental business in the Dallas Fort Worth area is saturated. We have dudes doing one day rentals for $165.00 with no weight limit. Just yesterday a new guy popped up, renting his brand spanking new Diamond C trailer at $225.00 for 7 days LOL. If that is not cheap enough, he offers to fill it as well. For the same price. Basically free labor....
    Multiple operators offering "beat any price" with a Harbor Freight trailer with add on plywood walls. if you have any aspirations of making $20,000 a month, consider a food truck or pressure washer business.

    Great video Josh. One thing depending on your state your trailer is not always covered under your current insurance policy. In California ( I know one of the most difficult states to run a business in I deal with so much BS here) you have to add your trailers to your policy sometimes they are not covered so always check with your agent.

    • @AmericanAFDumpsters

    Don't forget about the cost of commercial insurance. You are one incident away from bankruptcy without it. Anything could happen. A child could get inside your dumpster and get injured or killed. Your dump trailer could slide on a wet surface and end up in somebody's living room. A customer could overload your trailer with slabbed concrete and cover it with rubbish or tree limbs. This happens a lot. What if you discover it? Are you willing to dump the load on site and give the rental money back? Can you move slabbed concrete by yourself, what if the customer disappears or refuses to remove the material. This happens! Progressive is one of the few to cover a new business such as these. A truck, trailer and 3 roll offs will cost you around five thousand dollars a year for correct insurance coverage.
    if you decide to start without commercial insurance, may the luck of the Irish be with you until you can afford commercial insurance.
    Also , can you really back a trailer? Under pressure with a bunch of people watching you? With a bunch of construction workers whistling and yelling at you? Inches from gas meters and water mains? Some people cannot back trailers, they don't have the vision or motor skills for it. Not ever, not even with hours of practice. You might want to rent a trailer and find out, before you buy a $12,000 trailer. $12,000 is market price now, almost double what they cost a year ago. The trailer companies are keyed in and they are going to sock it to you with no mercy ( steel shortage yady yady yady). Texas Pride raised prices 11 times in 2020.

    • @AmericanAFDumpsters
      @AmericanAFDumpsters  2 года назад

      It ain’t easy that’s for sure. I believe I did cover commercial insurance but you are right. People really should really think about EVERYTHING involved in getting into business. It’s never peaches and cream!

    To me the biggest challenge I see with starting this business is "where do you put the dumpsters if they are not being used?" Having the infrastructure for that is an obstacle for a lot of people. A truck and some dumpsters is relatively inexpensive comparatively. This may be a geographical thing, but leasing or buying land where I live is absurdly expensive.

    • @AmericanAFDumpsters
      @AmericanAFDumpsters  2 года назад

      I don’t think I ever looked at that as a challenge really because I’ve always had a place to store them, but I can see what you mean for sure. Even if it’s a small yard outside of town, around here they wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. But I know other places are much more expensive.

    Do you rent a yard to keep your dumpsters or do you keep at your house? I have plenty of yard to keep about 6 dumpsters in my back yard, just wondering if that’s allowed in Texas? Also do you allow concrete/tile to go into your dumpsters or does that get too heavy? Thanks in advance

    • @AmericanAFDumpsters
      @AmericanAFDumpsters  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the watch Eddie. Regarding your question about if keeping 6 dumpsters in your back yard is allowed is really up to your city. If you live in the county and not within the city limits there are usually no restrictions. Other cities, or worse yet HOA you have to check with them honestly. As far as concrete/tile I do allow tile but give them a mark on the trailer they cannot go over. Wayyy too heavy.

    starting a business is not easy and to be successful depends on you , i been in different small business like tree work and landscape and stump grinding and carpet cleaning and power washing and deck cleaning and i failed at them all , now im a trucker and make 80k a year and all i gotta is not crash but i guess i still got the self employment bug because when i drive i think about it , i failed i think because im not a likeable guy , people dont enjoy dealing with me , im not a jerk i just dont have the magic that it takes , ive seen the magic my brother has and somehow he gets people eating out of his hand while i always hard a time and usually any customer i got was a 1 time deal ,,, i would really suggest a person do a in person sales job just to see if its easy for u to talk to people and u could be like me where its easy for me to talk to people but the magic is getting them to talk to you and believing you are the right person for them , thats the magic and thats what keeps me truckin because i dont need the magic out here good luck people
