Thank you so very much Mr Clarke!! You are my favorite watercolor teacher, your instruction takes away my fears. I still need to find brushes like yours. Looking forward to your next one. All the best,
Hi Frank, I have worked in oils for a very long time and just recently started working in water colors. I want to do all my studies for my oil paintings in water color and your videos have helped.
Nice one again Frank. Thank you for all this encouragement. I guess tubes are the way to go rather than the little half pans I use. It does take time working up enough paint plus the Billy goat brush is too big for little pans! :)
I currently see his tv show on PBS a few days a week. I wish they'd show them all 5 days a week, I LOVE his paintings, his style, and his humor. I tried to find 'goat hair' brushes here, and was told to use Hake brushes. I'm new at watercolors so I don't know if my Hake brushes are doing well, but they're doing ok.
That's what he uses is a 1.5 inch hake. I belive most hakes are goat hair. I've been painting his way since about 2000 and I find I use the 3/4 inch hake for most of my pictures
Frances Turano no, I haven't yet. I wanted to get the whole set with the brushes, paint, pallette, and paper but other things keep getting in the way. Where are you located? In the US?
Yes, United States. Colorado to be more specific. I'm concerned, as my emails have gone unanswered and my order's not arrived, or even an ETA. I love Frank Clarke's painting style and want to get cracking soon!
Frances Turano I hear you. I can understand the order taking a while to reach you as it's probably coming from Britain, but total lack of communication is puzzling. This is distressing. Have you tried calling the 800 number for the US and see if they can possibly tell you anything? Try calling 1 888 586 9084 and have your order number handy in case whoever answers can help you. Let me know how it goes, please.
Lovely painting yet again. I’m having a go at it. Just have to share the fact though that there are “border cops” lurking just under the foreground trees... well, according to the subtitles! 😀
I am really new to water colors but the way you break everything down I feel like I'm going to try it now. Would you suggest a smaller piece of water color paper to start with or a larger 14X10 right away?
I placed an order on April 24. Each email inquiry took 3-5 days for response. Last response from Jimmy Hayden said he had shipped on 5/2 and asked if I had not received. I replied that I had not received and asked for tracking information. I have not received any response. Based on lack of response, no tracking info, and no product I disputed the charge on my CC on 5/17. I am in US. I wonder if his site has been hacked.
Wayne, I did get my brushes & such, via the website, so I don't "think" he was hacked. As I mentioned, try Frank on FB. Send him a PM. My merchandise arrived mere days later. Good luck.
slim Sharpie Marker, available at Target or Walgreens. Black color. Have you ordered any brushes from Frank's site? How long did it take to receive your order?

Maria Lynn I've searched the internet and the only place I've found them are on his site: www.simplypainting.com .
Michael, I also searched in Metro Denver, as well as online for goat hair brushes. Simply Painting/Frank Clarke, is the only source for them.

I realize it's kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?

I wish they were on where I'm from in Western NY
Excellent tutorial Mr. Frank! 👍👍
Michael, have you ordered anything from Frank's site? Did it arrive quickly? My order is nearly a month and I'd really like to get started! Thanks!
I'm anxious to receive them, as I love the brushes and excited to start!

Please name the brushes you use. I heard goat hair. I can’t find it here.

Not the correct Frank, someone different.
Frank lost his wife last year, but as far as I know he is well.
Whew! Thank goodness! I just put up a comment and was worried for a second. I'm glad he is well.
Francis Bacon was never a Sir, he must be thinking of the Elizabethan philosopher Francis Bacon....
