The padlock on the zipper is so cute! I haven’t looked at the *hotdups* bag much, but after seeing how you styled this bag, I might consider getting one.
Not nearly as luxury as Dior, but I used to work at a Michael Kors store with $500 bags, and they used to tell us to focus on saying the LEATHER was Italian so people would think they were made in Italy, but they were actually made in China with “Italian leather” (or sometimes even cheaper manmade materials) for between $10-$20 per bag. They told us that if a bag got shoplifted it wasn’t a big financial loss because of that. I couldn’t believe it!!
That is crazy! Thank you for sharing that because it really puts into perspective how all these brands, from Chanel to MK, really are trying to dupe us.
I totally understand your feeling of being tired of luxury brands. I am also following contemporary brands now and love the *hotdups* bags, haha. Loro piana is perfect for you
Agreed! It's all an illusion they sold us, and we fell for it while they cash in. We are living in a sick world. It's time to open our eyes and take a stand against these brands.
Hi Niki, thank you for this video, please continue, this was eyes opening and deep, people need to hear the truth, I was shock cost of 57 dollars or EU for Dior back and sell price 3000 EU, wow . We need more people like you to start bring us back what is really important in life...please please please keep going this way....i am grateful for new version of Niki and I like her even more...love and light and big virtual hug
Love your content! I'm so looking forward to all you styling and fashion videos, I'm very much excited to see how you approach personal style and styling everyday looks, without having a ton of luxury pieces. Thank you for sharing! On that note: would you mind sharing where you got your flower earrings from?
unfortunately, even non-luxury brands use sweatshops which is why i am doing my best to research any brands i choose to buy from in the future. i don't ever want to support brands that violate human rights.
I stopped following you when you purchased a $38,000.00 handbag, And said it was an investment, I was truly floored. So I'm trying to understand the complete change and awakening.
wow...i don't remember ever spending that much money on a handbag (i would never) but i do agree that no handbag is a good investment and i'm happy to see you back
Yep. I see a lot of Temu bashing on RUclips but these companies like Walmart and Amazon are no better, they just have a higher profit margin. That's all.
I totally agree with holding luxury accountable but I think also social media has a big role to play as well. With so many influencers pushing us to buy the latest bags that also manipulate people to buy from these brands. I have always loved the history behind the brands and Dior in particular but are the brands also cutting corners and outsourcing to fulfill consumer demand?
Please share with us the creative work you were engaged in ? Looks very interesting and motivating!! I appreciate your sharing this vital info, I have not been taken in by luxury brands and happy to see I am not alone in this awareness.
Reselling it wont change the past, it is already made and you already payed the brands for it. If you like the item, why not just enjoy it and just dont buy in the future from brands that don't feel right? 😊
because it's also about the message i am sending to the world. i don't want to be showing my support for brands that violate human rights. hope that makes sense!
Just another comment since you're also a book lover, some books I'd recommend - The elephant in the brain, Brave New World (its fiction - but leaning to philosophical thought) and meditations by Marcus Aurelius (was from the emperor's journal)
I have been working with Lilysilk for many years and have personally asked the team about their manufacturing processes. i have been told that Lilysilk manufactures all of their items in China using sustainable materials, and maintain ethical working conditions and fair pay for their employees. Lilysilk is against sweatshops.
Oh wow. Is there a video about this channel shift? I remember her as a luxury retail influencer…now she’s calling the bags cheap and not worth buying?! Interested to see the new content!
Just an observation, when you said, illegal Chinese immigrants constantly or a few times at least. I didn’t see any Chinese workers but Indians, can you please clarify?
Are there any ethically sourced or whatever words to use, that pay their workers a fair wage? I still like luxury bags. I will only buy from reputable companies now. Someone please share.. ❤
But this has been going on since the beginning of time. This isn’t new. I don’t buy luxury. But, it’s not just the luxury brands, it’s all the dupes, and some other clothing items as well. This isn’t news!!
@@NikiSky Yes please! I watched a RUclips video by Claire Smith called "Who Makes Fragrances And Owns The Most Popular Designer Perfume Brands..." According to Claire's research almost all Designer brands (with exception Chanel who remain in-housel) outsource and lease out fragrance manufacture to one of around 10 huge conglomerate companies. Surprisingly even a few Niche houses, Jo Malone, Killian and BDK for example have apparently been acquired by some of these huge conglomerates. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, with huge parent companies now owning just about everything we buy and consume including food resources and the media.

Such a great collection of vintage/pre owned bags! A vintage *jklux* is definitely also on my list

That *jklux* looks waterproof, like it was done in collaboration with "Melissa", no insult either! very cute!

ahh your comment put a smile on my face! thank you for such beautiful words of encouragement! i am truly grateful for your support
I agreed. I would not buy anything from Dior now. They make enough from the customers to pay their employees well. They are too greedy!
$57 for a bag, hiring natalie portman to model the bag cost millions, fashion houses, advertising, team and brand which is what makes it crazy $$
my point exactly. you are paying for the marketing and the promise of prestige. it's all BS.
THANK YOU for such content! You are my inspiration! ❤❤❤
thank you for your kind words and for watching xx
i've followed you for yeaaaaars, and im SO happy on the dynamic of yoour channel now

If luxury brands are using sweatshops, what do you think non-luxury brands are doing?
But non luxury brands don’t charge enormous prices for their items
@@lifewithlouis9057 But the concern is allegedly about the workers' abuse, right?

Maybe you could research the brands that are not made in China ??
@@NikiSky Can you tell us how to research this. Companies do not make it public if they use sweat shops.

Walmart has the same thing going on, so it's pretty much luxury and low and doing all the same dirty tricks
