Burmese Pythons are def NOT Native to the USA! Hurricane Andrew-a category 5 storm that devastated the state of Florida, USA in August 1992. That was 28 yrs ago. It was during that storm a number of exotic wildlife facilities in the area were destroyed, One of the buildings affected was a breeding facility for Burmese pythons, and many of them escaped. Thousands of specimens of exotics species escaped their caging and enclosures during the passing of the storm, including Anacondas, Black Mamba (man was treated in 2005 for a black mamba bite in florida) and many others. Venomous and non venomous. It has now been proven that some constrictors have cross bred, like the Southeast Asian Burmese Python with a Boa, as well as anaconda and other constrictors creating a 'new' Hybrids that are more agressive, longer, stronger. Being that hundreds of the exoctic snakes are NOT native to the States specially in florida they have thrived in the everglades with NO natural predators. The Only species that can threaten these pythons old and new are alligators but only if the snake is around 2 yrs old or so. No chance if it is a full grown Burmese python (constictors). Florida has tried ever since that Hurricane to get the invasive species under control and failed being that pythons alone can lay 50- to 100 eggs per year and their life spans are around 15 yrs.....There is plenty of information on the non native Burmese Pythons and how they ended up in the states, the after math as well as very detailed documentaries/ videos on the net. Check them out, some of these new hybrid species are Massive as well as agressive (some not all). I hope this helps people understand a little more how and why Burmese Pythons are here in the state of Florida not just the Everglades but all throughout the whole state now.
Folks, at the 1:30 mark, isn't that a Green Anaconda? I'm definitely not a snake expert, but I was sure I could tell the difference between a Python and an Anaconda. So I'm hoping to get some help from someone out there in viewer land, that can deny or verify that it's one or the other for me please? I'm having a friendly bet with a friend.
