My favourite kind of historic town. It has maintained it's original look of growth over the centuries, yet with good shopping facilities, and movement of traffic . I took a drive from Bristol some years ago, through Herefordshire and Shropshire right up to North wales, instead of the usual route, (M5 etc) and was stunned by the beauty of the undulating countryside, with a backdrop of the Welsh Hills in the far distance. That road took me through some beautiful villages, and towns, like Shrewsbury. Highly reccomended. Good job here too, and so fortunate to have such exellent weather.
I completely agree with you! The historic towns and villages in Herefordshire and Shropshire are truly stunning. I'm glad you enjoyed your drive through the area, and yes, we are so fortunate to have such excellent weather to enjoy it all, and many thanks for sharing your story..
I moved away almost 50 years ago but was back for a 3 day visit recently. You would have had an even better walk if you had explored more of the passageways (called "shuts") that honeycomb the town. You also missed the gem of Bear Steps and the link to the movie of the Scrooge movie that was filmed in the town. As such - a bit too much walking on busy traffic streets but you certainly gave an essence of the town. It is gorgeous and thoroughly unappreciated when I lived there.

It's been along time since I've stood at that bar, but I will never forget the Yorkshire house. I have some great memories of nights out in the mid 80's in Shrewsbury!!!

If you walked the other way, it opens up to a very beautiful park.

I lived here for 15 years before i moved to Dublin.I rlly miss how calm and peaceful this town is!Thanks for this 😃
