I didn't get much of the leather or tobacco in the opening of this scent. Mainly mint,black liquorice and lots of spices.

Went through a Nicolai discovery kit recently, and this one was my favorite! I guess it made me realize I love licorice accords. Also the barbershop vibe and dusty tobacco just add to the sophisticated nuisance of this scent, for me.

I've been so chaotic with brands the past several years bouncing around from brand to brand, testing as much as I can. Perhaps a nice discovery set from a brand or two would be a nice change of pace for me.

Nicolai is a favorite house. I have six of her fragrances, but not Cuir Cuba Intense. The 30ml make it easy to explore her fragrances. They can be purchased for under $80 US at retail. The 30ml bottles, at least currently, come in similar packaging as the 100ml bottles. The only thing missing from the smaller bottle is the seal and cord.
Yep, Nicolai got it right with the 30 ml bottles. High quality at affordable prices.

This one sounds intriguing! I recently picked up her new Caravanserail Intense in a swap. Such a wonderful slightly fruity-cardamom coffee! Definitely worth a sniff!

Patchouli intense, cuir Cuba intense, new york intense are my fav of the brand
Cheers Marc,hard not to appreciate this house and indeed Patricia Guerlain, had a sample of this one and it’s a good scent, New York Intense is worthy of its notoriety , Patchouli Intense is a love or hate kinda scent for me lol , Amber Oud is a very pleasant wear , that’s my lot lol 😂 have a good one buddy ✌️🙏👍
I do need to sniff a few more from the line, perhaps that Amber Oud.

Some tobaccos come across herbal, if you've ever been to like a native american ceremony where they pass the tobacco around, it usually smells very herbal, and I wonder if that could be what you're picking up. Aramis Tobacco Reserve is the only fragrance I've smelled that had a tobacco note like this, which is very unique, and I personally really enjoyed it.

One of my favorite, heavier scents from the house is Caravansérail Intense. It's a great take on cardamom, coffee, and plum notes. On the lighter side, Eau de Yuzu and Riveria Verbana are lovely citrus profiles

The name really threw me for a loop when I tried it. Especially in the opening. But a lovely use of coumarin that's for sure. Nothing screams leather or Cuba to me, but I'm still a massive fan of the brand.
Thanks for sharing, yea nothing screamed leather to me either or Cuba but it was a good release. Huge fan of the brand as well, I need to sniff more of them.
@@robes08 Since you already have NYI, I can vouch for Patchouli Intense, Number one Intense, Neroli Intense and L'eau Mixte. Currenly working through a decant of Riviera Verbena.

This is probably my favorite from the house. It reminded me of directly a fragrance called Une Nuit a Doha by Stephane Humbert Lucas..... That didnt have the licorice punch that this have but have the same structure of i think its immortel, it gives me a hay like honeyed tobacco feel, Cuir tbh i didnt get such. This is a odd one tbh..
Still waiting for that review of New York Intense by the same brand. This has to be my favourite fragrance of all time.
I normally hate powdery notes, but I think Baikal leather intense is an example of how to use powdery notes correctly, elegantly and in a very sophisticated manner.
I also sampled patchouli intense and patchouli sublime, which I mean... they're good if you like that kind of thing, but the patchouli sublime was nothing special compared to how much more expensive it was - at least I couldn't detect anything different, except that the first hour, hour and a half of it, had a very prominent mint-oil note, and then the rest of the lifetime was the same.
I've also heard very good things about bois belize and riviera verbena.
I am planning on getting Riviera verbena, bois belize, and neroli intense pretty soon.
I'll get to the intense one day, I still need to do a video on the original NY actually. Really great info here, I took some notes on some of these. I did see the prices of the sublimes and wow.
@@robes08 i believe you did do a review way back on the New York one, but of course, tastes evolve and it might be a totally different experience now than back then.
