I visited Volgograd in 1978 and this memorial complex and statue. I still have my pictures from my visit. Very moving and sad to see in person, terrible loss of life honored. Dave-San Diego, CA
Same here. That softcover version that you would order from the classroom. I remember being fascinated by the photo due to the tiny people seen at the base of the statue. The scale of it seemed unreal.
What an incredible monument . Very moving. One can see the strategic importance of capturing and holding this vantage point. So many gave their lives for it and for Stalingrad. Thank you for posting this video. I hope i can visit the site myself someday.
Always wanted to go there. Since childhood I've read so many accounts of Stalingrad. The tenacity and patriotism of the Red Army can not be denied only respected and honored. Nice video! Ambient sound ,Perfect choice! The blower sound was perfect ! A place of death is ALIVE because of the blood spilled. The people go on ,deaths wete not in vain !

Back in 1987, Parade Magazine did an article on this place, and the American journalist who did the story said that it was when he was there, he really began to understand what Russia endured at that time. He concluded, "No American can talk to these people about war. They know it in a way that is intimate and personal."
Beautiful day to view this amazing monument and gardens. Such a huge sacrifice for the people of Russia to repel the evil invasion of their country.Hopefully some day humanity will no longer have to suffer such destruction and grief. Pray for peace.
Everyone in Latin America Respect the Russian people for their heroism and the huge sacrifice they had to give to stop the most evil group the world has ever known. I hope one day to go to Russia and pay my respect its increadable the monument they have done wow!
Absolutely beautiful but you stopped videoing too soon! Why didn’t you get the statue close up from multiple angles? When I saw how slowly you were walking and how short the video was my heart sank. MUCH too short but what you DID record, you deserve a score of 10 out of 10. If you live in Volgograd, please go back and get some more footage of this amazing statue.
Should be renamed back to Stalingrad honestly. Its an insult to the veterans who perished fighting for this place, basically turning the tide of the war and showing the whole that yes, the German Army is NOT invincible. Even the troops said Stalin had to be strong for them, and appreciate his leadership in defence of the city.
I've not been to Volgograd, very pretty monument area. Is this the companion statue to the one in Kyiv? What time of year was this one, it wasn't filmed this year was it? But I miss the hair scarfs. Couldn't she come with you on this trip?
Germany must have been a serious and hard oppenent when the russians celebrate the victory over Germany in such a monumental and overwhelming kind.....
Motherland Calls. This is holy ground. Never forget what happened here. Respect and love from Sweden.
Who ever designed this whole complex is a genius.
Thank you ! I worked very hard on it …I delivered newspaper to pay for my time off on this project.
