That was great. I've been trying to study the union sharp shooters. It is hard to find information on them. I also just bought to go with my collection of civil war soldiers the berdan union sharp shooters figurines. Thank you for the video.

But, but, but...only the southern boys could shoot and do so accurately! They shot their dinner while the northerners just went to the grocery store...right?...

Although I like him he was a better story teller than a historian.

Very interesting episode especially info on Western units. I have always had an interest in Western Theater sharpshooter units. My 3-great grandfather recruited a company of sharpshooters intended for Birge’s Sharpshooters. To qualify the shooter had to make a 24-inch string at 200 yards. His co. Was never taken into Birge unit and becam 6th co. of Ohio independent Sharpshooters.

Do you have a list of the 100 Berdan 1st USS in the Pitzer Woods Battle? My G. Grandfather was Eli Cook and in 1st USS Company I. We believe he was at Pitzer Woods because of an Eaton Rapids, MI newspaper article after he attended either the 25th or 50th Gettysburg reunion. Word of mouth was that he backed up on Little Roundtop after. I do, and did share the photo with Gettysburg historians when there one time. The photo was taken at the 25th reunion from where he is thought to be where he was firing from. It was about 250 feet down from the big pointed rock you see to the South when at the visitors area on Little Roundtop. Rocks are stacked and with some higher to I expect his head in the direction of Devils Den. He was a Corporal at Gettysburg.

Casper Trepp is buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. He was in an unmarked grave. He now has a military head stone. He was given a commemoration during the unveiling. He was quite the sharpshooter.

Six questions is like the Jackie Martling of your show. Always laughing in the background.

Exactly! I realized that just the other week. And like Jackie, his off-mic laughs kill me

Not sure what this is referring to exactly, but, we must say those things to keep humble from all the positive feedback we get. Mustn’t let it go to our heads and we become monsters. Thank you for the kind words, though.
