@ I would say yes but everyone and their brother from collapsing city centers in the US are clamoring to get out hereand there’s not much land for sale in easily accessible places. If you don’t mind being back in the boonies you could find something relatively economical but anything within 20-30 min of medium sized cities will be extremely expensive. We, the previous generation wish you better luck than we've had so far, in being left alone. We (mostly) haven't given up but there haven't been many signs that the trends will reverse without an outside force having effects that simply printing more money can't forstall.

@ I would say yes but everyone and their brother from collapsing city centers in the US are clamoring to get out hereand there’s not much land for sale in easily accessible places. If you don’t mind being back in the boonies you could find something relatively economical but anything within 20-30 min of medium sized cities will be extremely expensive. I’d say your kids would probably thank you and especially their kids.

I think it is important with the rise of AI that you have books in your home from authors who are well-known, that you watch channels and videos from people who have proven to be trustworthy. You will no longer know which videos, books and information came from a human heart and which did not. I want to stay with the human and have a bookcase full of trustworthy information. I do not want a world where computers think for us and talk to us.

You're right about AI in the sense that right now it's mostly limited by computing power. But it's still pretty easy to imagine, because as long as it's machine learning and not actual artificial intelligence that can think on its own, it's not dangerous in and of itself. The people who control it and use it as a tool of power are. But they were dangerous before AI. ;)

When my wife and I met many years ago, she was training dolphins and presenting shows and after getting her psychology degree (experimental / emphasis on the cognitive processes of marine mammals), she worked with Koko (the "sign language gorilla") and Koko's two buddies, Michael and Ndume ... a couple of interesting gorillas in their own right. Point is, I used to tell my friends I was the fourth gorilla. lol (Those animals were / are purely amazing creatures.)

Happy new year ! Quandtum computers are still hype for the moment, several issues to resolve, error rates are still too high to make it reliable in very sensitive operations, so AI yes but with conventionnal computing, not that this is any better, but it will progress somewhat more moderately !
America Needs to straighten itself out. We have the most corrupt government, and until that is cleaned up, we can't help anyone. As for me.... I DO live in the woods.
