Great work! I would say that if you are mining these depths of the visual realm which is relatively unsupported with such great results, then you will likely be floored by all the insane options for musical expression on a live setup. Really budget almost isn't a factor anymore once you dig in. You mentioned limitations to live music manipulation within the scope of your music. The first thing that comes to mind in terms of this genre is that there's folks who have been performing live IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) since the 90's with it's heyday in around 00-01: I.E: Autechre, Hrvatski, Venetian Snares. It can be done in any number of ways but perhaps a good way begin is to investigate the live setups of some of these artists. It can be done DAWless, but due to the nature, and flexibility of a laptop and DAW setup, I would debate that you have more freedom in a purely digital setup for live manipulation. You no doubt have the technical ability. Keep up the good work!
I love your work! It inspired me to get my own MIDI controller for my projects. Although this isn't directly related to your setup showcase, I have a question: How did you manage to make the buttons on the Akai MIDIMix turn on the LEDs (within TD)? I can't seem to figure it out.
Think the Elektronaut tutorial is called "Make everything audio reactive "
First time I see something like this. This is craaaazy.
