Hey guys! I'm working on making a portable synth, if that sounds interesting to you, check out my Kickstarter!: www.kickstarter.com/projects/reidcaptain/mixisynth
I actually absolutely love orbital cannons, the thought of high-powered ordinance so high in the sky it's like god just said, "Die" and explodes an area. It's so scarily amazing! This was very cool to me. (Also he took the hard route at sustaining height, which is rather than using the hot air balloon blocks. Though it's best to have those mods that let you input a custom value for that.)
this looks cool as hell (especially the stabilizing wheels), and the slow movement just adds to its ominous vibes. also love the aiming system. one of my favourites on this channel
Creatively killing, killing creatively. State sponsored mass murder war crimes of the gray Knights standing at the little castle. Bodies unrecognizable after defilement by Reid captains obviously secret communist global order leanings. 🤤
A note on your original ballista, my guess as to why the bolt wouldn't fly correctly is that the center of mass was too far back. You want the center of mass of an arrow/bolt to be pretty much as far in front of the center of pressure as possible, which is my guess as to why the first bolt design almost worked but had some inconsistencies under high load. If you think about it, you want the air resistance to be a self correcting force, so you want those fletchings to be behind the center of mass so the more your bolt deviates from head on the more force is correcting it. I think that a weight in the point and less weight back by the fletchings would make it way more accurate and consistent. Would love to see a ballista with a sight or maybe a full bow from you at some point.
It’s complete overkill/pointless to make such a big airship in real life. Much easier and more practical to patrol the skies with fighter jets and helicopters, which they already do.
the uploads just keep comming!! thanks for that :D maybe try to make historically accurate weird contraptions ;) would love to see some of the old failed prototypes in this game (like scrapman)
16:30 You are tending to your crops as a medieval farmer, much like any other day. You suddenly look up into the sky, and just see the embodiment of death.
i saw the the thumbmail of the video and i thought "omg the missile is gigantic! (in my imagination the red alian thing was a missile) Good work! love the content
A "messing around with bombs n stuff in Besiege" might be fun, like instead of building something just do a bunch of experimenting like seeing how many bombs you can explode at once before the game crashes. Would be even more fun if it was a livestream, chat always has some very entertaining (and usually explosive) ideas.
I can’t imagine what kind of strange mechanical contraption Reid would make if he actually lived during medieval/renaissance times, just casually torment the passersby’s below.
I'm nearly confident that two rings spinning in opposite directions has zero angular momentum and therefore is not actually adding any passive stabalization.
Loved the video @Reid Captain! Can't wait for the next video man! Next Idea: Build a Douglas A-20G Havoc Medium Bomber in Beseige (Day 2 or 3). Would love to see an A-20G Havoc making Gun Runs and Skip Bombing Middle Age Era Villages like they were Japanese Supply Ships!
"We've built a collection of militarized weapons, now it's time to show you how we will over throw our government and build a new one while only using the first two tabs of items"
I've watched a few of your videos now, I like your content. I've always thought you sounded familiar, and this episode, it struck me - you sound a lot like NileRed. Actually, it's almost identical sometimes.
So, is nobody going to point out how a flying creature of wheels and fire is striking people down from the heavens with flames? This is literally just a biblical angel. Great Value Uriel.
I love the besiege content. I love engineering. I prefer besiege over poly bridge, but any of your content is great content. Edit: Under an hour watch!
The oscillations most likely stemmed from the not-so-rigid connection with a structure so large, alongside that besiege hates having too much mass on a block that is too light, so it starts spazzing out.
Would you ever consider playing a different genre of games? I personally would love to see your spin on some games like City Skylines or some old SIMs or rollercoaster tycoon games. Some ideas like making the most efficient cities at any cost (and applying CS ideas like tileable cells and graph theory to manage traffic). Im sure a big part of your audience would find that interesting, and it's definitely a unique concept!
Also, having different conical angles on your reaction wheels means they have different moments of inertia, which is why they don't cancel out. They need to be identical to cancel out everything. Obviously minor perturbations will make it non perfect as well.
you've inspired me to return to space engineers. i now want to waste a month of my life trying to once again complete the nauvoo from the expanse. yay me
If you have counter-rotating wheels, it also counters out the gyroscopic effect. Though one trick I've used (in RigidChips) is to have them counter-rotating while they spin up, but then eject the wheels spinning one way, so it's left spinning only the other way.
Rourke: "We're loosing altitude. Lighten the load." Helga: "That's it, unless someone wants to jump." Rourke: "Well, next time, get it in writing." *Throws her over board* Helga: "ROURKE!" Rourke: "Nothing personal!" I mean, I can't be the only one thinking about that movie when seeing this thing, right? I mean, it looks a lot similar to that red blimp in the ending of Atlantis: The Lost Empire, right?
Yeah it is a cannon so it had to actually launch the payload, but just mass dropping a load of missiles or one big scatter missile with a main warhead would have been loads of fun too
As an idea, you could make a big wheel landship that could resemble the ,,big wheel machine-1914" concept and maybe add a howitzer on it,for long range egagements
I would've love a Mach 20 million big ahbomb barrelling towards the enemy but this is also pretty good and like light-years better than anything I could ever do.
Next Idea: Make a rally car in Scrap Mechanic that uses sensors, logic, variable suspension, and as much as you can cram into it to make it as fast and as stable as possible around a dirt track (The canyon, or a workshop tile if you want)

Just imagine being a peasant in medieval times and out of nowhere a ramdom dude straight up comes with an orbital canon
Welcome to sandbox games
More likely, an Alien Super weapon.
Ugh. Honey! Theres *another* Orbital Cannon outside! Get into the bunker.

both ;)
a machine gun in poly bridge would be interesting, i'm up for it!
VTOL
Both or VTOL.
VTOL would be cool
what mods do you use?
You should create a shotgun in Kerbal Space Program. I think that would be cool.

I love this channel because of how creative he is.

Nice to see that NileRed has finally branched out from chemistry videos to Besiege.

In Trailmakers, make a jet that can dock itself into another, bigger jet, that then lets you fly the bigger jet without leaving the smaller jets’ seat
