    Re: "Wayne Madere". He is Excellent! "Clear Voice!" "Enunciates clearly!" "Speaks SLOW enough to understand! (A real gem for these days.) He'd shows us close up (Zooms-in) how to Do something & even points to where & what it looks like, the "camera zooms in perfectly." He is just wonderful, in "My" opinion! (I'm 67, hearing is important, as well as vision!) Thanks Wayne.

    No disrespect, but every time I see, hear or read someone bashing a chromebook & saying they can get this or that for the money, it's funny, I never hear them mention the FACT that a chromebook receives updates every time it comes available. Sometimes it's a couple times a month, but when the icon appears, asking you to "restart to update", ya click, BAM, your done, ya have the new version. It TRULY is "the always new computer". I own a Samsung 5 550 I bought over a year ago. I absolutely love it. I can boot it up, and if that icon happens to appear, to update to newest version, I can do that too, and still be online WAY faster than most. Also, no critic ever mentions the fact that security is always taken care of too. I haven't used my desktop since. And I hammer on my chromebook for hours, EVERY day and EVERY night. It's just as fast as it ever was. It hasn't let me down yet. So, when a person buys that chromebook, they are paying for ALL future updates & future security 1 time.......and THAT is hard to beat. And, like the other person commented below, no critic is mentioning the fact that you can work on your desktop THROUGH your chromebook to do all the "heavy lifting". It's as if the critics want all these good things about chrome kept secret. And the chrome browser just SPANKS all other browsers, PERIOD. I'm totally spoiled with my chromebook. But to each his/her own I guess. Grace & Peace- :-)

    What a lot of people fail to realize, is that you can control your main PC remotely with this as well. I love the handiness of my Chromebook, and the option of having my main computer everywhere I go for video editing, 3D crap, photoshop....hell...watching my media in formats that the Chromebook doesn't play. Save projects and files to my cloud, and download them for use wherever. Not a main PC sure... but it can be a direct extension of the one that is. They are wicked convenient, and fast for web crap.

    • @NickSeidel
      @NickSeidel 10 лет назад

      So how do you personally do that?

    • @AllThingsRenStimpy
      @AllThingsRenStimpy 10 лет назад +1

      Go to the Chrome Apps store, and find the remote desktop app. Setup the computers you wish to access remotely, type in the access numbers, and boom. They remote connect in a matter of like 5 seconds. Makes it really handy if you work at the office and at home on the same project.

Documents, videos, social networking, phone calls, chatting, shopping, etc. This is a really good review. Anyone with experience using a Chromebook and what do you think? What is your opinion about the device? #@#@#!#!#

      It doesn't have a file management system and doesn't let you move files around - open, edit, and close and re-open - and they call it a computer.

    Very nice layout of the basics. I picked up chromebook to play around with. It's a Lenovo but the (now three year old) walkthrough will still covered everything to get familiar enough to feel comfortable looking around and trying things on one's own. I've watched a few, this video does the best job helping users out. Thanks!

      Open the Google Play Store and find the App byname that you want to un-install.

    A million thanks. You have been a life saver! I have learned so much finally. This is the best explanation I have found on RUclips. Thank you soooo much! OAN: I still have not found out how to copy and paste or delete JUST a SINGLE WORD or JUST a PARAGRAPH off of my work. However I do know how to copy when using Select ALL then copy and paste or delete. If, you do another tutorial please include much needed instructions. I prefer my task bar apps to the right of my screen. Thanks again for that tip location. I really love this little Chromebook. It was given to me as a gift from my daughter. I would have never in a million years considered this little guy. I loved it the minute I took it out of the box and felt how light weight and perfect it fit into my hands. Also, the boot up quickness was awesome. I am still learning. I so, appreciate you taking the time to explain here on RUclips and making it easy for a beginner to locate you.

    And linux users would say the same about windows; i have used all of the operating systems and this is perfect for me as a student. It's very lightweight, portable, and has fast start up. The battery life on the built in battery is two times what i get out of my windows laptop. Is it a powerhouse of a machine? Well, no. But it does do most of the things my windows computer can do and that's all that really matters. You'd be surprised what you can do with a Chromebook.

      Carol, In the event you still haven't gotten the You Tube icon back on the Shelf, following this path should work: "launch" button > All Apps > find the You Tube icon > press "alt" key while doing a left click on the You Tube icon > Pin to shelf. I hope this works for you! 03/28/2017

    • @VRUAN
      @VRUAN 7 лет назад

      Like windows, they changed the path, or location to which functions are accessed and called it a new version while no functionality was changed. ChromeOS re-invents the wheels on the basics, changes its names, like they call it "shelf" for "task bar", and calls it a new OS without concentrating on new features and functions.
      This is how big company makes money, suck and rip-off.

    Chromebooks are worth the money. They are great for business, and basic home use. For $250 or less, you don't go wrong getting one. Add in the fact, the OS is easy to use.

  • @outernetisdangerous
    @outernetisdangerous 11 лет назад

    1. It does have a built in media player but you have to make sure your video in a compatible format. It is also very basic.
    2. Some games support offline play. You should check out the offline collection in the chrome web store.
    3. Google Drive supports offline editing of documents now.
    It doesn't become a brick but you will be missing out on some programs.
    Soundation is a basic daw that runs in chrome but you need to be online to use it.

    No it won't hurt the computer in the long run. I've owned my hp chromebook for 4 months now and I always let it sleep. The performance of my computer has been the same since the day i got it. Of course sometimes you need to give it a reboot,but that's typical for any kind of computer.

I like to stay clean on screen saver and I don't know what else I'm going to say about chrome lap top. My social studies teacher had a chrome laptops for all classmates and me to work on something so, I don't need to write with pencil to get tired of my hand for an long time to work on. it was my first time to used chrome laptop at school. :)

My phone has hot spot capabilities so thanks for sharing the importance of off line apps. I have an older windows laptop that is great for off line stuff & watching movies but sucks at anything online, also 2 desktops for boys and another newer laptop for my husband also windows so I think the chrome book will fit in just fine in our house.

      ***** Now did I say that? Did I say it's only Chrome? I am saying, you keep yourself low key as much as you can....Don't broadcast your identity, Chrome books do not give an option to keep your identity private! In order for them to work, you have to sign up and sign in.. Oh yea and because they are strictly web based, they are less powerful and cost practically nothing to make. Thus they can appear to the buyer as a deal!

    It's nice you introduce the keyboard at the beginning of the video, but you just mention the first row. Soon after you say the sound keys, you jump into the screen to explain the apps icons. Why?
    What happen to other keys on the keyboard? Do you know there is no delete key on the keyboard, and why?
