Japan is crazy. Abadango (who hasn’t been super relevant) 3-0’ing arguably a top 3 player in the world with a character considered mid tier at best against a character widely considered top tier. Literally anything can happen any set which is what makes smash great.
Abadango is kind of a bracket demon for ProtoBanham. They are familiar with each other playstyle iIrc. Plus, Meta Knight is not an easy matchup for Lucina and Min Min (I can confirm this as a Lucina main and an occasional Min Min player)
Yeah for real, and his Lucina isn't as good as his Min Min most of the time, but since Japan has figured the counterplay against Min Min its almost better for him to stick to Lucina

I never thought I’d find myself rooting hard for a meta knight. Abadango was my favorite sm4sh pro player, glad to see him back and in loud fashion as well. Would love to see him up against Leo again at full power.
I think meta knight is extremely underrated character: multiple jumps, small hit box, great grab, up air combo kind of guarantee, excellent movement, great edge guarding capability, etc.
Dude I’ve been looking for a good reason to pick up meta knight because I’ve had a pocket mk for a while and I’ve been playing two low tiers for a while. This gives such inspiration to play him and practice cuz proto hardly even hit him with ladders or bridges to death and it was just pure neutral interactions. Such a beautiful display of this character

I'm just realizing that characters who can stay in the air are the best matchup against Min Min. So the Pits, Meta Knight, Ridley, King Dedede, Jigglypuff and Sora look like hard counters because besides neutral air she has no way of properly covering above herself.
I feel like people saying this think Proto is some almighty demon because he beat MKLeo. While that's an amazing feat, it's not hard to compare Proto to ESAM. Did you all just forget that the same Proto lost to Fatality and Maister at Summit?

If anyone truly wanted to make themselves look weak, they'd still barely win enough matches to make it to winners and then lose from there or make the games close or something similar. Actually watching those sets should tell you that Proto was actually trying, but hey, I guess you really want to believe that he never could've actually lose to Fatality and Maister. Abadango chose a sleeper character. One of MKleos complaints about Meta Knight is that he has short TRex arms. But Meta Knight is actually strong. He has some great links and can still be played at a high level. Decisions and skill.

Proto got matchup checked hard. He barely punished Dimensional Cape. Tried edgeguarding MK which isn't smart unless you have multiple jumps to recover or a projectile. He also doesn't have a lot of laggy moves other than his specials so you have to be really patient
Proto has fought MK before, Abadangos too because he's been playing him for awhile. Japan isn't really that inexperienced with the MK MU. The reason people are afraid to punish Dcape is because you have to hard call it out or else you eat the sword version, which often times you're by the ledge which can end up killing you early

Smash ultimate is so balanced... You can't win with only one or two characters, that's something Leo saw and did what he needed, and that's the results... Leo winning in his region and proto... Well... I don't see here the 3rd world's best player. I know smash factor 9 doesn't compares to a super major, but Leo did what the true best only can do: make the crowd go crazy with the joker's return... Leo has taken latam, Us, canada, europe and japan, he has shown why he is the Best, this is not a lie that everyone want to beat him, practice to make true combos to his characters more than annyone and Leo still making top 3 in the most majors and super majors he enters. Simply the very Best.
Bridge/Ladder combo are overrated but this MK is entertaining. Along with Rufio, he mixes up depending on situation than to MK special and five jumps. He exploits what MK is able to do.

He is more than that. It's from this fact alone that MK is placed lower tier. That's how the Metagame is: they are expecting a play style than exploiting what others things a character is able to do.

You can only DI when sent into tumble, and neither MK's Uair or Dair causes tumble until past his combo window. An MK that just fishes for DA's and grabs will swiftly get demolished by anyone competent. A proficent MK should be using other moves that you can follow up with dash or dthrow, or baiting the opponent into making punishable mistakes. If you're Dair camping, throw in a fastfall cancel to make it look like you're landing, and bait out a move. Condition them to shield your approach with properly spaced aerials, then go for a tomahawk grab. Your F-smash is one of, if not the best bait move in the game to purposefully whiff with. So yeah. IMO the combos aren't overrated, but I'm right there with you. Baddies with no neutral will never get the chance to land them on anyone with a brain, and the rest of his kit is just as important, if not more so.
Just remember that Metafy used to be the MKLeo’s Joker back in the days of Smash 4. Just saying… if he tries to touch this character once again, you are done guys.

The dude was exhausted and chose the easier character to play in that moment as a hail mary (ROB btw) and it almost worked too. He said on stream (after double down) that Joker against Min Min is pretty hard too and was not as easy as he made it look at LTC. If you look through Pink Fresh's analysis of the Smash Factor set, you'll find that Dabuz wasn't doing what he needed to do to make that matchup hard for Joker.
@@Sancnea Not making anything up, I'm literally basing myself on what Leo said. He used it only in crews in DD precisely because it was rusty. I don't think Leo cares about crews as much as singles. And clearly Proto didn't either because he went Lucina instead of Min min. And given the fact that Leo's team was in high disadvantage when it was his turn to play, he had to use a character with a huge comeback factor. And yeah, his rusty joker obliterated Proto's Lucina, imagine that. He said his joker was rusty dusty on stream as well, plenty of times. But he trained his joker with cosmos days before Smash Factor, that is why he was confident in using it in grands against dabuz. His matches with cosmos are now on youtube. I think what happened is he got annoyed at people telling him to play joker against min min, so he gave people what they wanted, and in the process he would take notes. Dabuz's min min is not as good as Proto's, but it's still really good and serves as preparation against Proto. I think people forget how good Dabuz's Min min is.

He was shielding DC at kill% because he was scared of Dimensional Cape attack, which is legitimate. That's why he was only getting grabs

I think Leo knows his joker would obliterate Banham's Min min. He stated that day that his joker was extremely rusty. But now it isn't.
@@Meroknight You're making stuff up. His Joker wasn't rusty that day and he even proved it in the crew battle at Double Down. The dude was exhausted and chose the easier character to play in that moment as a hail mary (ROB btw) and it almost worked too.
He said on stream (after double down) that Joker against Min Min is pretty hard too and was not as easy as he made it look at LTC.
If you look through Pink Fresh's analysis of the Smash Factor set, you'll find that Dabuz wasn't doing what he needed to do to make that matchup hard for Joker.
@@Sancnea Not making anything up, I'm literally basing myself on what Leo said. He used it only in crews in DD precisely because it was rusty. I don't think Leo cares about crews as much as singles. And clearly Proto didn't either because he went Lucina instead of Min min. And given the fact that Leo's team was in high disadvantage when it was his turn to play, he had to use a character with a huge comeback factor. And yeah, his rusty joker obliterated Proto's Lucina, imagine that. He said his joker was rusty dusty on stream as well, plenty of times. But he trained his joker with cosmos days before Smash Factor, that is why he was confident in using it in grands against dabuz. His matches with cosmos are now on youtube. I think what happened is he got annoyed at people telling him to play joker against min min, so he gave people what they wanted, and in the process he would take notes. Dabuz's min min is not as good as Proto's, but it's still really good and serves as preparation against Proto. I think people forget how good Dabuz's Min min is.
