    WOW, I've stumbled on to you in researching my AK ride. I have to say, you are one of the most well-spoken tubers I have encountered. Some of these people could put a crackhead to sleep but you keep it entertaining and engaged. Your final comment on "knowledge" of your ride was SPOT ON. This is where many faulter and fluster when things go wrong. Thanks for the great content and I will continue to watch.

    Lots of great information on your Alaska videos. I plan to trade in my Yamaha Tracer 900 on a 2021 1290 S for my Alaska trip next Summer.

    Agree with Erik below a First Aid kit is essential if travelling in remote areas. Also, a can of tyre inflation gunk. Quick easy and works. Both of these items could also help other bikers out of a jam.

      Thanks Deep South. Did my best to include what I thought folks might find some value or use out of.

    I take velcro straps so I can pack things tighter in my bags. I think they are 1" and 2" wide and about 2 feet long. You can really make a coat to a small size bundle. I've bought them on Amazon and at Lowe's home improvement too.

    You should get a zip lock baggie. Fill it with paper towel's that are soaked with which ever shield cleaner you like. And keep it in youre tank bag where you can get to it easily. This way while youre riding you can clean your shield with just a couple of wipes as offend as needed.

      Not a bad idea, but I don't like using paper towels on my faceshield as they're more prone to scratch than a microfiber towel. May give that a try next trip.

    Still trying to figure out what the upsides of this model is over the 1290s.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  5 лет назад

      Larger capacity fuel tank, spoke rims instead of cast , hard side bags standard (US model). Those are the major differences.

    Enjoyed the trip. Well done as always. Question... do you find the KTM to be a bit top heavy when loaded?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  5 лет назад

      Compared to my previous touring bike (FJR1300), no. With it totally loaded and a passenger on the back it’s harder to maneuver at parking lot speed but once up to speed that feeling quickly goes away.

    What traction mode did you have the bike set on ?? Is there a section between Kamloops and the Arctic Circle that would be well suited to the Iron Butt 1000 mile run, or are the very serious about keeping the speed near what the signs say ???
    Thanks for the video. Our trip starts mid-summer.

      I had in street almost the whole time. I didn't see much patrol at all. Wild life would be a bigger concern than police.

    Great video! Thanks for the gear tips. Quick question - you mentioned carrying a spare master link. Did you carry a rivet tool or chain press to get the damaged link removed?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  6 лет назад

      Sorta. I have a small tool a mechanic friend of my gave me. It along with a pair of vise grips will press out a pin. It'll be hard to explain here but maybe I can shoot a quick vid on it in the future.

    You went to the Masters?! What year? And you should frame that flag, homie! 😁😀

    • @2WR
      @2WR  6 лет назад +1

      Yep, back in 2009 when Greg Norman had qualified. I likely would have been framed but I came hope one day to find my sister had pinned it to the garage wall...oh well...still cool to have. Attending the Master's is one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.
