Brennan's speech from the source of divinity is absolutely stunning and nuianced and deep. "People are fractal images of the universe" and "bad things happen to good people because things happen all the time" are wonderful.
I love how Fig ended up with the most parents and stepparents 😂 She’s got her mon Sandra Lynn and her man Jawbone, her dad Gilear and Fabian’s mom, her biological dad Gortholax and Riz’s mom. She went from emo child of single parent to the most beloved child on the planet and I love that for her.
She also has the most siblings, with Jawbone being the guardian of the Abernant sisters, Tracker, and Kristen, Fabian through Gilear and Riz through Gorthalax. The only main character she isn't legally related to is Gorgug.
Riz is Figs brother through Gorthalax Fabian is her brother though Gillear Aiden was adopted by Jawbone, who ended up with Sandra-Lynn so she is her sister Kristen is dating Tracker who is Jawbones niece (secret daughter?) there’s so many brennan sets up stories so well and pays them off even better. Adaine’s first scene ever started with her father telling her the elves oracle died. Kirsten’s little brother asked if she was going to fight a dragon. and so much more
@@angus591 well first I said I think not that I know, but it's brought up a few times, Bill Seacaster brings it up in the first episode that he will get old but his wife will not. she brings it up in episode 6 while talking to Adaine about the fact that she married a human. as to why she would drink to avoid it, well that fits the high school movie nature of the show can't have to many active and involved parents with out issues.
Me before time skip : Man jawbone has lived a super interesting life Me after time skip : Did he just take a casual 8 hour snooze inside a dragon mouth? Jawbone truly has lived a life worthy of a book.
Is it petty that I was really hoping to hear that Adaine's father lost his ambassadorship and was charged with treason for inciting a war under false pretenses?
I'm still not convinced they didn't fake that bit... I mean the party was pretty much finished and it was right at a time they would end a session. So it was pretty 'convenient' What happens if they lose a fight? Do you just "retry from checkpoint"?
This reminded me of a drawing I saw where Fig was exclaiming “step-sibs!” to Riz and Fabian. Riz was confused and Fabian was very against it. Thinking of that in context is interesting though...
“Reckless Shred” is such a fun way to give a unique ability to a Bard who spent like a year doing nothing but learning how to be a Barbarian lol. Killer series, onto Unsleeping City before season 2 lol
Imagine being this huge fucking dragon, about to like destroy the world, then witnessing through like very fast forward, six teenagers eat sandwiches, have a jam out, dance in front of you, then position themselves on your head-
Not to mention that these kids then proceed to kill him and when he gets to hell he get absolutely bodied by, the one and only, Bill Seacaster and his crew of infernal pirates and turned into a living breathing ship.
Brennan took a lot of philosophy as he said. These are the things you learn in philosophy class and that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you find meaning profound then I highly recommend trying it! :D
I’d love to have another episode with a breakdown of what was and wasn’t supposed to happen. Like what had Brennan imagined that never came to pass, and what happened organically that then changed the course of the campaign.
There's a fantasy high playlist with two more episodes on behind the scenes which may have that (haven't watched it bc I'm moving onto the next dimension 20 series asap but I'm sure they'll mention something)
I kept waiting for it... I thought - how are we so close to the end and don't know who his parents are?? Especially his dad, when his dad insights were some of my favorite recurring jokes in the show? And moments later, seemingly out of nowhere, Brennan says 'roll insight' and for the first F***ING time Gorgug rolls not only a not-bad roll on an insight check, but an actual nat 20, and there he is... HIS DAD. I felt such joy in that moment
"Bad things happen to good people because things happen all the time and it is up to people to determine whether they are bad or good. In the same way as your heart feels and mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares and if you don't, then it doesn't." - Brennan If anyone also wants the profound quote
So Jawbone adopts Adaine, then dates Sandra Lynn, making Adaine and Fig kinda siblings. Adaine is also now related to Tracker who's with Kristen. Gorthalax and Sklonda hit it off connecting Fig and Riz, Harriel and Gilear connect Fig and Fabian, making almost all the Bad Kids related.
Dude, the “honey, we are going to be the goblins who *killed* a dragon” got me, especially with the minor running sub theme that goblins are assumed to be the bad guys who always serve the big bad.
I cannot believe how well Brennan managed to wrap up all of their character arcs for this season so satisfyingly. -Riz cracked the case and killed the dragon that killed his father -Adaine defeated her sister and found a new home that loves her -Fabian made his father proud and killed him taking on his mantle but in his own not cruel way -Kristen Applebees literally made a god -Fig found her dad and now has more dads than she knows what to do with, and more importantly Gilear is the vice principal. -Gorgug found his dad and is no longer a freak loser AND YET, there's still so many obvious ways they can continue to progress. Brennan is a really fucking good storyteller. I feel like it would take any other dm way longer than 17 sessions to do what he did.

he could have written one or two and then had his writing custom printed on the cards because I'm pretty sure they're made out of something that he can't actually write on
I know this has probably already been pointed out but, the “Sun falling from the sky” could mean “Son” referring to Riz falling from the sky with the badass finale.

How many people MAX could they choose to take into the fight? I love the way it turned out, but I felt like they might've been able to get additional NPCs to help (unless "between" meant less than 12). In addition to the nine, I thought of Ragh, Basrar, and either Bud or Mr. Donovan. I know Ragh has his story expanded in Sophomore Year, but I think he could've gotten a jump on that during Prom. If Zelda's dad was there he would've seen how Gorgug is both an uninhibited combatant and a huge teddy bear sworn to help those he cares for. Bud would've been nuts and could've brought the whole halfling thing to Sklonda's attention--assuming he didn't try to light her up. Lastly, an ice-cream conjuring djinn could've made that sugary rain happen during the fight...as long as he's not bound to stay witnin his establishment. Sorry for the long wall of text. Spending a week binging this story really got me focused on certain characters and their tales. Unfortunately, I do not possess the greatest magic of all so that I may ask them directly without sounding incredibly dated.

By this final episode I literally just realized that Goldenhoard is a reference to him being a literal dragon that hoards gold. I'm certain most everyone else noticed this but it is very fitting and funny.
I'm guessing it would have happened that way anyhow, except maybe with a few others experiencing their own version of heaven. It was too perfectly detailed and acted out for Brennan to have come up with the entire thing on the spot.

ally asking for a nat 20 to be alive is probably the most crazy moment of the campaign, but Lou reaction when we see arthur gets me every time
That was the tangent Brennan needed to give them another fair shot. It was a beautiful feat of improvisational storytelling.
fun fact: according to the death saving throw rules, throwing a nat 20 on a death saving throw actually does bring you up to one hitpoint.
13:28 For anyone else looking for it 😂 One of my favourite Lou moments, but there have been many!
Daniel: I knew of that rule, but I think the reason it was so wild (I might be wrong) was because Ally was done rolling death saves and was stabilized, so there shouldn’t have been any rolling and it was just waiting. I think you’d need to get the Nat 20 before the first three successes are rolled.
Either way super awesome!
I thought Brennan was going to treat the Nat 20 mechanically like a successful Divine Intervention role, since the probability is similar, but I like what happened instead.

I cannot believe how well Brennan managed to wrap up all of their character arcs for this season so satisfyingly.

Gorgug's insight to ask about his dad was a natural 20
That's too wholesome
I just love the panic on Brenan’s face at the start where he’s clearly questioning if Ally had willed this god into existence in our world
13:30 Lou's surprise is precious but Brennan did say so. No lie, Arthur Aguefort is one of my favorite characters. He seems literally incapable of doing anything less than the most.
there's one BDG sentence that I feel summons Aguefort perfectly: "If I can't be accurate, I will sure as hell be extra"!
@@giualonso He's never inaccurate though. Most correct man in the game.
He is the sheer definition of maximum effort.

All Brennan originally said is that he had "dark skin." In a lot of fantasy literature, at most that means he has a good tan.
Fantasy High was such an incredible experience. Thank you Brennan and all the cast for this, I had so many tears and smiles, and I learned to enjoy DnD a lot more because of you. Love you guys so much!!
Hey, don't fret, dimension 20 will be live on the 25th 7:00 PST on twitch
I couldn't agree more. I can say with 100% certainty, Fantasy High is what made me decide to join a d&d campaign when i had the chance.
Good news, season 2 is a-comin'
sadlobster1 did anyone say when
@@Thebongosusetobethicc Not that I know of but look on Twitter, either Dimension 20 or Brennan himself confirmed that Season 2 is happening

“Everything in this world is bullshit, but understanding HOW is the key!”
Absolutely priceless storytelling!
