  • EXPLORING THE REALITY OF THE AMERICAN YARD SALE EXPERIENCE
Another weekend means that I once again embark on a hunt into the unknown looking for vintage toys and other pop culture collectibles. Some days you walk into one yard sale or garage sale and find something beyond your wildest dreams. Other times, you explore 20 different sales and barely scrape together a decent haul reflective of your time. Most days, however, are like this! Yard sale / garage sale ride along!

Nothing is more uncomfortable then walking up to a yardsale, having some fun interaction with the person running it, then upon looking at what is for sale know within 10 seconds there is nothing there for you and having to do the awkward "welp, thanks! have a good day" and getting out of there as quick as possible. I always feel bad.

Vids like these are my favorites and here is why:
For a european guy watching these religiously I dont necessarily watch any videos for any specific toy or score but more for the scene itself. The shots of peoples neat driveways and different setups of stands the chatter and the cozy porches etc basicly everything is gold for me. The outdoor sales are my favs for sure! Reminds me of my childhood watching movies dreaming about living large in the States hah - please keep these type of videos Froggy the whole vibe is what I am here for ! Many greetings from Denmark

I agree!! I am in Trinidad. We don't have many yardsales here because we don't have seasonal things like winter clothes etc. When we buy a house we stay till we pass and it goes to our children so there is no downsizing and moving sales. Anthony's yardsale videos are so interesting because of that.

Yard sales and estate sales were my childhood. Going with my grandparents, and getting 5 bucks for the day to spend on what I wanted. When the 5 bucks was gone, that was it, and I found some good stuff always. These vids bring me back and make me miss those days. The thrill of the hunt is the only thing that truly matters. Yes, it's great to find top shelf pieces, but that's not going to happen every time. Plus, like you said, it forces you to become creative and look down other avenues.
Kids today truly are missing out on the fun activities we had in the 80's and 90's. Going to eat at pizza hut then a stop at blockbuster on the way home was the greatest thing ever.
Thanks for the upload Anthony and keep up the great work 👍

I don't mind the somewhat more mundane hunts at yard sales. Part of the enjoyment is just seeing what people have, your interactions with people, and just wandering around outside (vicariously, of course). My favorite item would be this 15:00 Rocketeer puzzle just because of the art. Creator Dave Stevens' work is really hot right now (albeit mostly his good girl art), and although I don't think he designed that, it's still a cool illustration. Definitely worth a buck.

Thats how it is out in the wild sometimes you find treasure mixed in with common items and sometimes there is just common items ...this is what makes hunting for treasure and finding those items so special..always like you're videos

I just had the Pizza Hut chat with my wife the other day! I was feeling nostalgic and remembered going to Pizza Hut after errands with my mom and brother. They had an X-Men arcade machine that I could stand at for hours. Really want to recreate that memory with my 2 year old son.

Love the Black Hole puzzle. First thing I watched when I got Disney+. From the day the service was announced I was waiting to revisit that movie from my childhood.

It's nice to the see the variety of garage/yard sale finds. I've given up on a lot of the yard sales near me because they tend to open on thursday or friday mornings and tend to be picked through by the time I can get to them.

Thanks for sharing. I worked at a pizza local joint back in high school ('75-'76). My boss's crowd pleasing "draw" was a juke box (3 plays for a quarter).
The pizza and other food was freshly made and tasted pretty good. We didn't have a soda fountain back then either. Free Parking!.

I love the somewhat academic title of the video. Some of those sales looked pretty good to me, especially the one with the big tray of CDs.
