I find it extremely ironic that such a book focused so much on accurate timeline of Biblical history, would blatantly use the word Palestine to describe the Holy Land centuries BEFORE that place-name came into existence in the 3rd century AD. For example, at the beginning of Epoch 7, which deals with the years 332-37 BC, one sentence says "All over Palestine, cities were rebuilt by the Greek Ptolemies from Egypt, or by the Greek Seleucids from Syria. Samaria was settled by colonists from Macedonia, and coastal cities in Palestine became Greek."
The text uses the word 'Palestine' so much it becomes obvious this otherwise precious book is poisoned with potentially anti-semitic information that's historically inaccurate. In the same opening page for Epoch 7, we read "In Palestine itself, one important monument is the painted tombs of Marisa, in southern Judah." Another sentence: "Coins in Palestine show the succession of rulers. Many coins are from the Seleucid rulers of Syria, but coins dated after the Maccabean revolt of 166BC indicate a free Judah." It goes on to describe the influence of Alexander the Great whose kingdom was then divided into four kingdoms, saying "his generals continued the ancient struggle between Asia and Africa for control of Palestine. While they fought each other over Palestine, both agreed on the importance of establishing Greek culture in the land." And that's just quoting from a section containing maybe two thousand words.
The truth is Palestine didn't exist until the third century AD. The name was given to the region by Rome after it destroyed Jerusalem and sought to eradicate the Biblical place-names currently in existence, including in Jerusalem itself. And it was not ever a geo-political nation, had no flag, no distinct language nor culture NOR CURRENCY. It was used to distinguish a region much like we'd use the word Arctic to describe the north.
Why is this such a big deal? Because this version of the Bible refutes the Bible itself. In Matthew 2:20-21 an angel of the Lord referred to the land as Israel. Many New Testament scriptures written in first century AD call the land 'Israel' not 'Palestine" (Matthew 2:6; 8:10; 9:33; 10:6; 10:23; 15:24;27:42; Mark 12:29; Luke 1:16; 1:80; 4:27; 7:9; John 1:31; 1:49; 12:13; Acts 2:22; 3:12; 4:10; 5:35; 9:15; Romans 9:4; 1 Cor.10:18; on and on). Why fill this book with the name of Palestine which didn't exist at the time the Bible was written instead of Israel, or at least, the Holy Land, in order to truly be historically accurate?

I glanced at this Bible a bit while in Barnes and Noble last week. So far I like what I saw. I mean, I just briefly skimmed through the pages . I’ve read some favorable and not so favorable reviews about this particular study Bible, so I’m going to look through it again and then make a decision.

That “train track” is actually a fairly wanted addition!! It’s purposely done so when you flip thru you kind of have a grip of little notches to flip thru more precisely rather than completely smooth like most 😊

I just purchased this BIble and was online looking for a study guide or workbook that goes along with it. Something to study by with the study Bible, to ask questins, to research, to discuss. Have you come across one that would coincide?

Pastor Waldron, of all the chronological bibles you have reviewed, which one do you prefer the most? Thank you for the comment of this not being very usable. I'll have to say I had one of these at one time and it had so much info, it was almost too busy and too many points vying for attention.
