    A quick tip for you guys: I burnt a patched game iso using this method and at first it didn't work (black screen). I assumed an error occurred during the burning process (wrong speed, bad DVD-R brand...) so I burnt the same iso on another blank DVD-R. Same result (black screen). Then I had an idea and changed the PS2 default language to English in the main configuration menu, restarted the console with the same burnt DVD-R (the second one) and it worked!

    Ps2 modding is reaching sweet spot slowly. No longer need modchip or swap magic and take ps2 apart. To get started all need is any dvd burner and dvd-r disk which are dirt cheap nowadays compared 10-15 years ago. You can get decent multilayer dvd rw drive for under 10€ and dvd-R disks are under 1€ per disk. You can just pop patched game in and it boots with expection of few early ps2 models that will be supported on future hopefully. Opl and esr are improving compability over time and soon we are on sweet spot like on wii where very easy run backup or any game

    I am using component cables if that matters.

    So the game I want to play - Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legacy, to play that with ESR I need to enable the two settings below.
    - Disable ESR after first IOP reset
    - Use Synchronous Mode
    How would I go about enabling those options using this method?

    I'm trying to run a PAL-CD (Heman), I did the Ultra ISO patch to turn it into a ISO DVD IMAGE as you had shown on the ESR video.
    Then patched it, but it's not working.. all I get is a black screen.

    When using UltraISO, after I OK changing the properties to 4.37 DVD etc, the Image Box doesn't change and it still displays Mixed Mode CD, and then doesn't offer me ISO as Save As filetype. Have tried a few versions of UltraISO.

    Questions: are you able to save your game from the dvd just like you would with a normal game? Will this damage your ps2 laser in any way (I read something about that)?

    Hey, so I have a little issue going on.
    I've burnt Guitar Hero II Deluxe on a disc at 6x, but as I place it in it says: "Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc."
    Nevermind, I just had to use the launcher for my disc instead. Thanks!

    Tried this for my 2.12u ps2, I use it's payload. In the end it gives me the message "TV system doesn't match", but if I load the same disc with the freemcboot memory card, then it will load the game. Do you know what could've caused it?

      I don't believe this program has been updated with the non-Slim payloads? I told someone else here recently, but dropping in a payload isn't that simple either. The hybrid payload was modified in some way compared to the one on GitHub and it wasn't documented.

    Awesome tutorial, but I ran into some issues. I had a blue disk NTSC game lying around with no way to play it on my PAL console. So I tried this method and the bin file of the game from the original disc works just fine on an emulator. When converting the game from cd to dvd should I select the image file or rather the working bin file to convert and burn? But I selected the image file converted it, then applied a NTSC to PAL patch (yfix) and the 3.10 and 3.11 hybrid patch, because I have 3.11. Then I burnt the DVD+R. When I put it into my ps2 slim the game tried to read, but after a bit it displayed a message saying ”Disc could not be read”. That was exactly what the original game said when inserting it. I think the process of the cd to dvd conversion is the problem, because I read a comment saying that something with the game needs to be changed to read correctly. Or is it the language of my ps2 which I read in another comment? Some solid advice could help me a lot. Thanks for reading.

      Hope you found a solution in the past 8 months, but try putting your console in English.
      Also did you apply the NTSC to PAL patch BEFORE converting to DVD? I think if you convert to DVD first, it won't work.

    • @Szpagin
      @Szpagin 10 месяцев назад

      You don't need to convert the game from NTSC to PAL. Just use the patch, burn the disk and it should work fine.

    Plus it is NTSC-J. So, would the method shown in the video still work?

    • @MrMario2011

      It could be spotty due to just loading off a burned disc as well, as opposed to an original disc.

    • @TAGMedia7
      @TAGMedia7 4 года назад

      The version of ESR that is being used in this method is an older beta, so compatibility is worse than the last release.

      Gran Turismo 4 is a dvd-9 game (dual-layer), you have to rip that dvd-9 to dvd-5 (single-layer), then patch it and burn it.. been years since i've done it but look it up on google.

    • @TheSonic497

      Yeah, some games load fine, but most refuse to start, or simply stop loading in the middle if the game. I don't know if its the media straining on the laser reader, or the patcher just has terrible compatibility.

    Hey man, fdvdb works on my fat ps2. But when I try to use esr patched discs ( I have tried to use the patcher with the 2.12 payload and patching manually myself) the disc loads into the dvd menu.
    So *something* is working but I'm not sure what. I have used this exploit for the Slim and it works perfectly, really struggling to understand why it won't work with the fat?

    I patched my back up iso via the FDVDB ESR method, but my ps2 still can't read it. Might there be something I'm missing?
    EDIT: I have a slim ps2 console. I had to press firmly on top of the disc cover as the disk was being read. Then it finally registered as a dvd.

    Will this eventually be compatible with DVD 3.00?
    I tried doing all this just now (game was Echo Night Beyond), but while the console recognizes it as a DVD video, attempting to run it results in "Playback halted due to malfunction".
