We need more Andy booktube content! This was a treat. Tigana is a great next book to read, and then a lot of people will tell you Under Heaven is a good place to go as well as The Sarantine Mosaic. And yes, continue the Dark Tower! The tone and storytelling changes drastically from book 2.
For GGK I would prob recommend going with either Under Heaven or Sailing to Sarantium (first in the Sarantine Mosaic duology) next, as you liked the historical books.
Hey Andy! Check out The Sarantine Mosaic next for GGK! I've also only read Lions of Al-Rassan and A Song for Arbonne and loved them with ASfA being my favourite. I'll be reading Sailing to Sarantium for the first time next month if you wanted to buddy read in spirit haha. Nice to see you again!
I'd read GGK in publication order but leave Fionavar till end. It's my favourite of his books because it's where I started 30 years ago but it's quite different to his later books.
Oh wow I also just read my first ever GGK books this year with Lions and Arbonne! A Song for Arbonne became my new favorite book of all time, and I thought Lions was masterful too. Right with you on being in awe of how much story he can pack into these normal-sized standalones. Almost done with Elderlings and can’t wait to try out the Soldier Son trilogy after!
I've read every Stephen King book and still don't like the Gunslinger after reading it twice haha. The drawing of the three is very different and much better! If you don't like the series after Drawing, it's definitely safe to move on. GGK's best work is Sarantine Mosaic, but doing Tigana or Under Heaven next is also a solid plan.
I was literally going through my bookshelf last night wondering if I should get rid of the rest od the series, so this is exactly what I needed to hear, Kyle. I’ll give drawing of the three a shot before selling out the series
I'm a fan of Soldier Son too. I hear people say that it's bad, and I completely disagree. It's not as good as RotE, but it's better than a lot of series out there. It's the series that inspired me to get back in the gym 6 years ago. Lol. I've been working out 4-5 times a week since then. I think you should definitely give Drawing of the Three a read. If you don't like the 2nd book in Dark Tower, then you can quit. Drawing of the Three is my favorite book in the series.
Is Drawing of the Three a different vibe? Or the same kind of slow, prodding story. I'm hesitant because Drawing of the 3 is so much longer than The Gunslinger.
Good to see you! Yes, continue Dark Tower.

Seems Sarantine is coming up a lot!
Thanks for the welcome back

Is Jimmy Nutts on the readalong? He also recommended Sarantine to me.
@@AndySmithMN he read it at the original time, and I was delayed!
"let's just get into it" 😊

@@AndySmithMN it's a COMPLETELY different vibe. But it does give you a decent feel for the rest of the series. I would say to at least try that one.
