Pros of subtitles: you don't ever miss important dialogue Cons of subtitles: micro-spoilers (what you mentioned), but the biggest con is that subtitles change your focus from the movie to reading the subtitles (at least it does for me). Even if I don't need to, I find myself always reading the subtitles and this of course means my visual focus is at the bottom of the screen instead of actually watching the movie. So I think that the real solution is for movies to make speech audible without making the rest of the movie deafening. But apparently that is too hard for movies/shows/TVs to do (I know there are supposedly settings that make speech louder, but I haven't noticed them working. I also don't have an amazing sound system so maybe that makes it worst).

56:00 Sweden here. Around 75% of the time spent in class in junior high, was spent doing nothing. @Fredrik Sevenius his "founding father's bad" bit was so dumb, it's almost like progress has to start somewhere, and historical context means nothing. These men wrote texts that promoted human freedoms and emancipation, which paved the way for the greater advancements that came later.
To be fair almost everyone from history, when judged by the morality of today, would be considered terrible people. Which kind of makes judging people by today’s morality a useless exercise. We are, after all, the most advanced and developed societies in human history. So it makes sense that we’re able to look back on others throughout history and say that person was bad for not adhering to the moral standards of today. The ideals that we hold as individuals are almost entirely influenced by the society, time, and education that the person is born into and experiences. For instance if Rob or NL was born at the height of the Mongolian empire then you’d probably expect them to be extremely different and even terrible by today’s standards. Or if they were born in the 1800s they’d probably have some pretty horrific views on any number of things. It’s why you have to judge people from history from the morals of that time frame. Which would then make Thomas Jefferson a very normal and reasonable person for his time.
@@BR-dy1ie He was a progressive. He didn't like slavery and while he owned slaves and purchased more as time went on (mostly because of business but also to reunite families) he couldn't just let them go, which was illegal at the time. And don't forget his insinuation that anyone "to the right" of Jefferson must be even more of a garbage person. I suppose that includes John Adams and George Washington.
Alexander Hamilton was absolutely not to the right of Thomas Jefferson in his time, that's just patently absurd. Also applying modern woke standards to people nearly 300 years ago is nothing short of idiotic. Love NL and his content but Rob is off his rocker less than 30 mins into this vid and leaves a sour taste.
Lol you should make a cool rap musical about how woke Hitler was as a vegetarian, lover of women, dedicated public servant, fan of cleanliness, occult hipster, music lover and artist... And just never mention any of his problematic qualities. The points would be 1. Humor and 2. Showing how history is selectively told.
Morals are subjective, this is a fact. You cant be intellectually honest and judge peoples actions in the past basted on standards of today. What was morally ok back then isnt today. And guess what, shit you think is ok today isnt going to be morally ok in the future. You know what else use to be morally ok and proper? Selling your daughter into marriage. Because marriage was a property transaction not an "expression of love" like today. But I dont see any one crying about how their ancestors where such horrible people for selling and buying women, scratch that, selling and buying YOUNG GIRLS.

Thank God someone said it.
Some truly terrible takes in this one but still a great show as always

A Rob episode I see, how long before his politics make the episode unwatchable? 22 minutes. 👋
Yeah, Rob episodes can be rough
I know Rob days get way out of hand way too quick on the politics.
I can't do these Rob episodes anymore, too much far left talk....
