The rest of the schedule for the season seems to be a major plus for the Cubs. They play 9 teams who are under .500 and they also play the Pirates for 6 games and they’re one game over the .500 mark. They also play the Yankees, Dodgers and Phillies for three games each. The Cubs are 6 games back in the wild card race so the schedule should work in their favor. Hopefully, by mid-August, they’ll have a healthy Jordan Wicks and Keegan Thompson back and, hopefully, Cody Bellinger’s finger will be completely healed. Last night’s game was impressive because the Cubs always seem to struggle whenever they play on ESPN. Plus, whenever they have a game like they did on Saturday, they haven’t always been able to bounce back right away. Right now, I’d be fine if the Cubs platooned Tauchman and Happ in left field the rest of this season. I have to admit that when Craig Counsell brought in Hodge last night, I started stressing, but that’s what I like about Counsell…he’s not afraid of putting guys back out there to regain their confidence and Hodge came through.
The team lost yesterday's game, not PCA or Nico. Walking a batter with a 3-run lead and then hitting the next batter made things easier for the Cardinals. The throw from third never should have been made. Then there was the misplayed pop fly. How about Counsell pulling Busch (one of the team's hottest hitters) for Wisdom? Happ just missed making a spectacular catch that resulted in a triple that became the winning run. Finally, the offense went silent after scoring four runs. There is plenty of blame to go around for the loss.
Agree, but Nico was clearly parked under it, if your gonna call him off you better make the catch. Nico had to react quickly just to get out of the way
ha hunter bigge blew it all the way from tampa lol winning series from here on out and getting to 500 should be goals of this team. i like the lineup with happ leading off pca will make mistakes he is young but padres has to eat that ball . come out tonight and get a series win !
