The 70's and 80's were ripe with bands playing all forms of metal and hard rock. So many bands in fact, that many were overlooked or continually went on relentless tours to play their music and get noticed. One of those bands was Tantrum, a four-man outfit consisting of Brian Mangini on bass, Johnny Riccio on guitars, Nick Frascella on drums, and Chuck Bird II on vocals. Based out of New Jersey, they released a demo titled Rock the World in 1984, and a 4 song EP titled Trenton City Murders in 1986. To make a long story short, their work was discovered by Cult Metal Classics in 2016 and a full-length CD with their original songs, a couple of live cuts, and some outtakes was released. The title song, for which this video accompanies, will give you an idea of their strength. To give you an idea, Chuck Bird's soaring vocals are in the realm of Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillian, David Coverdale, and Glenn Huges. Johnny Riccio's guitar prowess would remind one of Joe Satriani, Robin Trower, Steve Vai, or John Petrucci. The back beat of heavy bass lines and steady drumming is left to Brian Mangini and Nick Frascella respectively.
