  • This footage was recorded on Saturday afternoon, September 15, 1990, on and around the Grounds of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. These are scenes following UVA’s home football game at Scott Stadium. I lived across the street from the stadium and was beginning graduate school that fall. UVA beat Navy that day, 56-14. The Cavaliers would go on to play in the Sugar Bowl that season, losing to the Tennessee Volunteers by one point, 23-22.
This footage includes scenes outside the stadium as fans lined up to take shuttle buses back to satellite parking lots, traffic on Emmet Street, the UVA Corner, and more traffic near the Rotunda. I walked around recording this with a shoulder-mounted, full-size VHS camcorder that I had recently purchased from Holdren’s Electronics Store on Fifth Street in Charlottesville.
