Love this episode a lot of people didn’t mention this is a Hausa dish that was incorporated into the northern region of Ghana and made it ways down the country with different takes and additions. 🎉🎉
It’s not a Hausa dish ,it’s a northern Ghanaian dish ,there is not tribe like Hausa in Ghana,Hausas in Ghana originally came from Niger ,Chad n Nigeria and they didn’t bring waakye to Ghana
@@narkietetteh Ghana is multiethnic and multitribal. So there are Hausa people who live and identify as Ghanaian nationally and have lived in the northern region of Ghana for centuries. Secondly it depends on whichever source you want to look at but waakye means beans in Hausa and more appropriately shinkaafa da waakye translates to rice and beans and is the full name of the dish. It has been adapted and recreated across the country and is now fully associated as a Ghanaian cuisine. Thank you :)
@@Thrilller525 my dear, as a Ghanaian I am very well versed with the various ethnicities or tribes in Ghana. I agree that there are Hausas that settled down in Ghana and identify as Ghanaians but it will shock you to know that most of these Hausas are found rather in the Southern part of Ghana. The people of the Northern part of Ghana are sometimes erroneously referred to as Hausas even by some Ghanaians. No, they are not Hausas. They are collectively called the "Dagbon" people and some of the tribes include; Dagomba, Mamprusi, Frafra, Sisala etc. Regarding "shinkafa da waake" it is a meal that is found all over West Africa. Every country has it's own variation but "Waakye" as coined by Ghanaians is a meal style prepared only in Ghana. It is peculiar to us most particularly the people of Northern Ghana

So let's say whatever meal we may be planning for the sake of proteins to make the meal balanced you should at least have an egg.
@@BoskiM Ghanaians and Ethiopians are kinda similar when it comes to marriage. They’ll hardly bypass a Ghanaian man for one from elsewhere. Even though they know most of these Ghana men ain’t shit. 😂😂😂.
waakye is one of the best Ghanaian foods. if u go to google and search it u will find authentic images. it’s rice and beans but we soak the beans and rice with sourgum leaves creating a red colour and smoky flavour. then there is a tomato stew. Spaghetti, beef, fish, boiled egg on the side and shito ( sh-Toh) which is a spicy chilli sauce. then there’s often salad on the side. ITS SOOOO BOMB.

Throughly enjoyed this episode !! loved the competitiveness and critique. This made the episode juicer & funny. Well done to all the beautiful ladies ❤
The dishes aside can these women drop their beauty routines?? Their skin is GLOWING.

I love everybody on this line up 😭 they compliment each other so well
This is where we in the Caribbean get rice and peas from
I've been waiting for this one... TURN IT UP!
Which Hausa? LOL.. The Northeners from Ghana didn’t invent this masterpiece for the glory to be given to other people🤦🏾♀️
@@narkietetteh Ghana is multiethnic and multitribal.
@@narkietetteh thank you for the information I think I’ve just heard from different sources different things so I’m glad to hear different perspectives of the subject. Appreciated :)
my best friend is GHANAIAN her father is always feeding me! He's the reason I love onions so much now! God bless all the Ghanians ❤️
The onions comment took me out 🤣
@@kfner23 LOL it's true tho! When we were 13/14 he would cook rice and make a huge pile of grilled onions I was so scared cuz I didn't like onions then but to my surprise it was sooo delicious 😋 I'm 30 now!
I loved learnin a bit about Ghanaian food bring these ladies back they are entertaining and fun to watch eat
Ghanaian food is so good. I haven't had any in ages, need to eat some soon.
I love Ruth! Always so kind.
Akua is stunning
Thank you 😊
Akua is so bitter, not very nice person it seems. Glad that nice and kind woman won this.
She's actually not a bitter person at all. She's just very blunt
There's always that one person who thinks being overly critical and rude is gonna guarantee them a win.
I have been waiting for this all my life. I have watch this competition of people from different countries and it's always fun😁😁😁😁. Ghanaians and waakye lovers let's gather here
Yes I use to eat Waakye when my former pastor use to take me to the Ghanaian food store. Waakye with egg, stew, and shito🔥🔥
Well done to ALL the ladies! Y’all really made Ghana 🇬🇭 proud with being the first group of women on this channel showcasing our local delicacies!
Please can we all learn to respect people’s personal opinions!
If it was so easy to judge, you’d all have a chance at it. Stop being cyber bullies and go do something better with yourselves!
Spread love, not hate! If you can’t appreciate people’s personal opinions, don’t go on social media #period!
P.S. BuzzFeed, please do a Liberian 🇱🇷 food segment please 😊
Liberian…let me work something up
Glad she won I loved her personality so free and genuine!
Came here for the shade got an entire eclipse instead.
Ruth is so beautiful! I can't get over it
Thank you Gabbie💕💕
This was a delicious meal...especially when I lived in Ghana !!! The stew it comes with and the shito ... i make it occasionally if j can find the leaves in harlseden lol
They all are so beautiful Omg
Yay! I love waakye and I love my people! 🇬🇭🇬🇭
Ruth is a vibe. Congrats
Thank you❤❤
I've always wondered why Ghanians love eggs so much, especially boiled eggs. Is there some sort of historical correlation?
Well today IL tell you,.we take nutrition a little more serious in Ghana. Every meal must be a balanced diet even if you can't afford to have any form of meat protein you can always do with an egg. So let's say whatever meal we may be planning for the sake of proteins to make the meal balanced you should at least have an egg.
@@Eve-on This makes so much sense. Thank you for the enlightenment.
They are sooooo DRAMATIC!!! They know damn well it wasn’t THAT bad
Every Black Mama is amazing but Ghanian Mamas are top notch!
They won't marry you though 🤣🤣
Am here for this my peoples are so straightforward 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭my girl Akua on this girl my sis that
Ruth is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
And that red hair colour is so perfect for her!
Thank you so much❤❤
@perla5465💖💖💖thank you
Can never forget the boiled egg with a Ghanaian meal 👌🏾
Why are they all so pretty
I think the producers need to do a better job and making sure ppl aren't too hateful because it seriously clouds their judgment. Keep an open mind and stop being overly critical, that's called being haters. It's so subjective to one's taste so kudos to all the ladies!
I love akua’s voice sm
It’s the african accent coming through in moments of exclamation 😅
Leave akua home she's so catty really brought down my enjoyment. I loved Ruth so kind hearted
Proud Ghanaian always a pleasure to see Ghana represented
Ruth is GORGEOUS! My God!😍😍😍
Yes to this vid!
Could you please do Sierra Leonean Mums/Aunties?
There’s plantain, plasas(casava leaf), okra and spinach, jollof, casava, yam, boiled monkey nuts (seasoned obvs) THERES JUST SO MUCH YUMMY FOOD!!!
I also forgot cowfoot!
As a Nigerian I second this!! Would love to see &discover more West African food on show!
I was looking for this comment 👏🏽
Yes I want to learn about Sierra Leone 🇸🇱
Great video! Congratulations Ruth!
All the comments talking about how people are rude but it’s a competition. Should they not be at least a little competitive? Nobody was even crazy rude.
Spitting the food out of your mouth is rude!!
@Angel Melissa Agbettor 👍🏾
Being competitive doesn't equal being rude. Those are two very different things.
5:46 Nahhh bro how can she say don’t judge a book by it’s cover but she literally didn’t event want to eat the previous one🫠🫠
I want to experience all of these different cultures so bad. 😩😩❤️❤️
These moms are ruthless lol
This Ghanaian cooking competition is all about fun, unity, Peace and Love ❤️ But I don't understand why certain people are using it as an advantage to attack one particular person all because she stands out with excellency and charisma. I am calling out all those pointing fingers with insults to Akua to stop.
The hate is too much and is not on.Is all about Love and fun as I said. Expecting your next show
Watching from Ghana and you guys did well
Thank you
Exactly! Well said Caroline! Everyone doesn’t like to be told opinions but that’s what this show is about! She specifically said “for me” as she described each dish!
I really didn’t see the harshness or rudeness everyone was referring to! Some people prefer to be direct and that doesn’t always go down well with hypocrisy
Ruth is the loveliest loveliest sweetest mum! But they were all quite nice 😊
Yeas I've been waiting for the Ghanaian version. 😄🎉
I love the dark lady that wore Ankara, she has a lovely smile and accent ( so rich)
Finallyyyyy 💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿 🇬🇭 represented
My ratingsssss as a Ghanaian living in Ghana
Number one looked really really really good. I’d try that. Looks delicious.
Number two missed it with the white gari and no stew. White gari is always a miss on waakye.
Number three was a bit light coloured but it looked so good with the spaghetti and gari. I know it definitely tasted good.
Number four looked amazing. I’d try that.
The "I should've gone with my instincs line" 🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣 the panel felt that
Omds i’ve been waiting for this for the longest😩
