After doing some search for Puntarenas (my cruise ship will dock there) I come to watch your video and now I now what to expect for there. Thank you so much for share! Already subscribed!
It used to be a quick drive for locals just to eat seafood and Chuchecas.I haven't been for many years and don't plan to. I'll be in the province in Feb. and keep driving, including Jaco.
We are taking the ferry to go to Tortuga Island. And the next day we are going to Monteverde, back to San Jose the following day, so location is ideal. What hotel did you stay at?
To be completely honest, I can see why people would say that Puntarenas can be dangerous. It's an old port town with a slowed economy BUT I didn't see anything that would keep me from going back again. I felt welcomed and safe the whole time. Stay on the main strip and in lively areas and be smart. Just like the rest of the country the people are nice, welcoming and want you to have a great time in their city.
Great video. It has changed so much since we’ve been there. I love taking the ferry!

Overnight it might be dangerous but not different from downtown San José (Costa Rica's central valley) so yeah pretty much the same
Heard beaches are full of garbage?
There are some small plastic bits that wash up but the beaches are muy bonita. Also, monthly beach clean ups happen by the local community.
I went through here a few days ago. Did not like.
Well thanks for letting me know.
@@TheBeanseen for the most part it was ok, but the beaches had garbage. I’m driving through again tmr. Also you made a good video btw!
