GAAP stands for generally accepted accounting principles. GAAP is the standardized set of accounting principles that public companies in the U.S. must follow.
Non-GAAP means accounting standards that DO NO follow GAAP accounting. Which one is best? Brian Feroldi and Brian Stoffel explain what is gaap accounting, non-gaap measures, accounting standards, and more.

Great job guys! Very informative and you all did an amazing job explaining it. As a current teacher, I give this an A+ presentation.
Brilliant…absolutely crystallised my thinking on GAAP/Non GAAP…thanks, I’m now a follower and liked 👍 the content.
Accounting can be a wonky subject. If you enjoyed this, you'll enjoy our video on balance sheet: ruclips.net/video/a8I9rw2HVOU/видео.html
Great explanation. Thanks for that.
Love you guys, keep this type of content coming!
Brilliant guys! Thank you so much for this high quality content!
Thanks for watching StockInvest!
If only my accounting professor could teach like this 😅
Thanks for this guys! Going to re-suggest that you either get rid of the bottom banner with the Twitter handles or make it take up less screen space. As a viewer, I would rather see the full screen. It's also redundant because you have the handles above your images. My two cents.
Thanks for the feedback Cesar!
Great video guys, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Nick!
Thanks for sharing. I never understood before.
Happy to help Mike!
You guys deserve more subscribers 👏 thanks for this video

Very nice - Good Job guys -Keep up with the good work
Thank you very much Ray!
Thank you for the video!❤️ I have a question.
Is there any certification based on that I can show that I have a good knowledge of GAAP?
Great video
On the Walmart example, why would a debt repayment affect earnings?
Here from MF. Such valuable information, thank you.
Thank you for this gem drop
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think both should always be used. It’s great to have the standards, so as to make things more uniform and prevent companies from fudging their numbers. But it’s important to recognise that each business can also have unique factors that aren’t accounted for by GAAP
100% -- it's better to build a mosaic than look at 1 thing
I understand disregarding depreciation and amortization. What about ignoring stock-based compensation? I would perceive that as diluting the value of my stock, even though there is no real effect on cash flow.
As we said, there's a debate! Some people say it is a cost. Others say it's accounted for in the growth of the share count. We are not here to debate that, we just wanted to explain the differences!
terrific video guys! still not entirely sure why autodesk got 740 million back in income tax in Q1 of last year, if they dont get that unusually large amount back in q1 of this year would that not in turn increase their trailing PE to 90?
Thanks Adham! Check out their forward non-gaap p/e. That's a better reflection of their valuation.
best channel on youtube💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽👑👑👑👑
😃😃😃
me gustaría que los subtítulos estuvieran en español 😥
I like how americans are practical in their explanations. Especially you guys.
Thanks!
I see you changing up the thumbnail strategy 👀
We are willing to experiment!
@@BrianFeroldiYT I like it! Great content as always.
You have Linus voice and it's kinda freaked me out
Tooooo many videos you post. At first I put alarm for notifications, but I keep getting alarms.
Thanks for the feedback Hatem. We post ~4x/week (2 recaps, 1 long-live stream, 1 investing lesson). We get that's a lot!
So basically Non-GAAP is companies trying to find a way to polish up their financial repoort, LOL
In some cases! Some investors hate non-gaap earnings. They are not good or bad -- you just need to know when they are useful and when they aren't
@@BrianFeroldiYT Thanks for the explanation!
GAAP? The whole world uses IFRS
