Can't you do a similar test as Steve does and see if you get a different result. It is not credible to just hear a lot of talk about how bad everything is, if you do not have a test that disproves the other test.
watched the video and he is using that to detect amplifier clipping. He talks nothing about locs. An amplifier will amplify whatever signal it receives. So if it is getting a garbage signal it will amplify garbage. Not a hard concept to follow. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get overcharged for something that you can find cheaper. However not all locs are created equal. Yes you don't have to overpay for good sound either.

He's just basically himself why would it cost so much? he wouldn't respond. And me and my buddy tested a cheap metra LOC and a cheaper kicker LOC with an oscope and it clipped when the Sony deck we used clipped. As soon as I saw his video I knew he was just trying to sell his product and at $149 😂😂😂. The guy in this video says for people to do their own research and I agree I did all my own research and even tested two LOCs I tried then my buddy tried and we got the same results. Just like the SMD DD1 etc those things are crazy expensive. I bought a $50 hand held scope from Amazon and tested against a $800 oscope and was just as accurate. Then we tried the SMD DD1 because my buddy bought it like 2 years ago and used it like twice but also the $50 hand held was the same as the SMD DD1 so Fuk paying all that money. I don't know who this guy is making the video and I don't know Steve and I used to watch Steve a lot but got older and realized he wasn't anything special for lack of a better way of saying it. But I can see the bullshit in his products with my own eyes. People can buy wht they want but sux a lot will over spend and Steve knows they will. 🤷🏻♂️ Like JL audio ya it sounds good but a w7 is like $1200-$1500 u can get subs at a fraction of that that take more power and actually "handle it" , have lower frequency and are more musical. @jay jay I would agree however the video I have watched of Steve testing loc he has the hi level o scoped and the loc o scoped simultaneously. Head unit not clipping or distorted and loc signal is. I agree the piece of equipment he sells is overpriced. That being the main discussion we can agree. It seems some don't believe that a cheap loc can or may distort a signal. That argument I agree with Steve on. He is not the only one that has tested them and proved they do. To each their own .A good one will cost more than a cheap one but not as much as the overpriced piece Steve sells.
The HLC-2 is a active device with a mil spec 30V linear tech power supply in it and Burr Brown precision op-amps in it, in a differential instrumentation amplifier arrangement. Yes those are actually gain pots. Those shitty LOCs you are talking about with transformers in them complexity destroy anything below 50Hz. There is a reason the slowest frequency electricity in the world is 50Hz (Japan) because anything slower does not work efficiently with transformers. You should probably take this video down because you are showing your lack of knowledge on the topic instead of looking like an expert.

I have the Scosche LOC my Walmart still gets them with the auto on/off and bass knob and it works perfect with no distortion. Thank you for showing people that way they don't get ripped off. I appreciate how honest you are about everything in your videos
My issue with Steve Meade is his insistence that I was lying when I said using the DD-1 cost me 3 recones. After watching EMF Audio’s regarding the DD-1, I commented and he blew up. The fact of the matter is I had my wall completely rebuilt never had any issues prior to utilizing the DD-1to set the gain on my amplifiers. After using the DD-1 I ended up having to re-cone three subwoofers, since going back and utilizing an oscilloscope I have never had an issue
The DD1 works. You'd be surprised how much clipping you actually get at 1% distortion. You will see a nice chop off the wave. If clipping is the main concern (high power systems like yours) O scope will be better. Other distortions show up on Oscope too, you just have to look really close. I could understand Older O scopes not being great, but the resolution on newer scopes is great.
The problem w Steve is he goes straight to calling you a liar, Instead of figuring out what the real problem is. Finding out If the problem is on your end or his, and how to fix it. If you came at Steve straight blaming him, and the DD1, you did the same.
@@kewlbug after researching what me and my teammates found was when I made adjustments to my head unit I was now clipping. I knew how high I could go on the volume but I did not know that if I changed sources (flash drive, iPod) I was now able to clip. At my first show I blew 2 subs and at my next show I blew 1. After reconing my subs and using my o-scope, which is what I normally use, I have never lost a sub and my new high score on music was a 157.4.
@@kendrellholley1975 Right on! Yeah I've noticed different levels from USB, BT and CD sometimes. I can even squeeze a little more juice outta my deck if I +1 my usb and BT. I use both O and DD1 (see my videos) That way you can see everything and voltage. You'll see the clipping barely start on the O just before the DD1 actually pops. But the DD1 is doing what it says it does. Also know Spotify, Amazon, etc will knock you down 14db if you don't turn off volume normalization. put in a CD after that and you'll blow everything. lol

Personally i did watch his video and i think he was pushing too much power from the head unit causing the LLC to clip on the cheaper models not designed for 40 rms. How ever, alot of his tools are great tools to use if you are somebody that works with audio equipment and just need to get it setup quick. Obviously you can use other cheaper tools but i personally have found some of his tools accurate and convenient.

I have been installing car stereo since 1994. Have an extensive electronic background (avionics license) and have used my oscilloscope to set thousands of systems up. Some of which have been trophy setups. I am not convinced that an oscilloscope in qualified hands is second to anything. I am not bashing anyone, nor will I. I speak with my personal experience. I am a major Rockford Fosgate guy, always have been. Maybe my belief in if you want more, buy equipment rated to give you more.. If you use a scope, as soon as you see distortion start at the peak, back it off a bit... That 5 extra watts is not going to make any difference at all to the ear and it isn't worth the cost of reconing subs.... My food for thought
And... as far as this topic goes, I have the Scorpion loc in all 3 of my vehicles.. 6 total units.. I have nothing but good to say about them. $15 each and work beautifully
The power handling of the LC2i and the HLC-2 make them great for factory premium system upgrades. The cheap LOC's you mentioned can't handle that kind of power. The cheap LOC's are introducing an oscillation in the signal. While that oscillation, technically, is not clipping, that is what the DD1 is picking up. Steve showed a clean signal going in and a shit signal coming out. There is no argument. Most LOC's are garbage.
@@RobotUnderground it is not just people over driving the LOC. Cars are coming with audio packages that will over power the cheap LOC'S. This is something that is discussed on Five Star Car Stereo all the time. A lot of people are getting cars with "premium" audio from the factory. Then they want to replace the woofer with an aftermarket subwoofer. That is where the Kicker KeyLOC and the LC2I work great.
Thats one reason I wemt with the LC2i. I removed the factory subwoofer and used the wire as an inouy signal to the LC2i. That and many of those cheap line output converters have distortion before the meter can even measure voltage. Granted alot of that distortions is inaudible for the most part, especially in the lower frequencies. I like to consider myself somewhat above average when it comes to purchasing audio equipment. I know what amos to buy and not buy. I look at rhe amo dynos and tests. Im definitely not an expert by any means but ive studies alot, especially how tonuse T/S parameters to choose my subs based on my application and type of music I listen to.

First personal attacks make you sound like an upset teenager, I really hope you are better than that. Second a passive LOC can easily sound bad and have induced harmonics. It has a transformer, minimum of 2 combined inductors. We know inductors behave very differently at different frequencies and power levels. A friend has based a 40 year career in transformer design. Third you are correct that an LOC will distort when driven too hard. You blame the user for this but what do you do when the radio volume goes to 40 and the LOC will distort at 10? This means you only have 10 steps from nothing to full volume and if you are still running factory speakers alongside the LOC they will never get near full volume?

The SMD tools that Tony designed are freaking excellent. The DD1+ is awesome and it doesn’t lie, if it’s picking up distortion, there is an issue somewhere guaranteed. It is up to you to find it, and sometimes it can be that you were using a burnt copy of the test disc and the laptop that burnt it is a POS and didn’t do a good job of burn. Ask me how I know……. The AMM-1 is awesome, you can do the lil amp dyno shit for your customers or to test and see what amp is really putting out, You can measure and see how much real world voltage drop you are getting on your power wire and handful of shit. Much better than trying to use a clamp and having that shit mess up. The IM-SG is excellent for testing speakers, finding out what a box is tuned to, box volume, T/S perimeters of any type of driver and more, awesome unit The CC-1…… is only handy sometimes if you are forced to use the crossover on an amplifier. Especially nice on motorcycle install. The pot on the crossover is always way off on any amp no matter what brand. It works, is it needed for a normal person? No, hell no. The first 3 are very nice and important tools. Having your gain set correct is a fucking huge game changer.
The DD1 is a 2 trick pony and I will admit dont know what the + offers but I am sure its not much more and when a Oscope shows you the rails at any Hz how is that not better? a Hantek 2D42 is like $150 and is a awesome oscope. The 2D42 also has a frequency generator built in. The AMM is badass, $500 worth? No but they own the market so can do what they want. Meade is just the salesman, He designed nothing inside, Maybe the case Tony lewy him help. lol

My experience with a cheap line out converter. I put subs in my truck to replace the factory one. I bought subs, box, amp, and cheap converter. Hooked it all up and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to sound good. I'm not a noob to car stereos ect. So I thought it was the cheap amp I bought. I purchased a much better one. Sound improved but still never sounded right. So I bought an o-scope. Checked the head unit for clipping and at the level I listen to my stereo the signal was clean. Then checked the converter and sure enough no matter what setting/volume I tried it clipped 100% of the time. So agree watching a video from a box maker on the lc2i I purchased an lc2i pro. Immediately resolved the problem. Plus raised the out of from under 1 volt up to 6. I'm not knocking any manufacturers or trying to promote one either. All in saying is the cheap one clipped and the lc2i didn't.

You set your gains with a $20 multimeter on AC volts and a free frequency generator app. And then you use a bass knob and don’t abuse it. Play a song on RUclips. Now play a song on RUclips Music. Now play a song on Spotify. All have the different output levels. So you need a bass knob.
There are two sets of pots. I think while the signal was clean it was too hot on the first pot. So of course any movement on the 2nd pot would push out the noise. What he was showing was that the signal has noise and that is what the DD1 was picking up. I agree in that the truth was stretched some. At $149/$139 you might as well get a kicker key. At least it will fix all the junk in the signal from factory processing. Guys will buy it though.
Just watched the vid and your right my dad had a 19 dollar 💵 line out converter and it was good identical to SMD expensive junk. His also had a bass nob on his line out converter. His bass was very clear I recommend it to anyone.
Hopefully anybody seeing $150 for a Line out Converter understands the components used in a LOC and how that is expensive beyond measure. I'm surprised that the case is clear and you can see inside. Now if it were powered device then you would know that it is increasing source signal strength which will benefit over all sound quality and clarity (headroom). Plus, your power amps will run cooler the stronger the input signal (voltage). But that's not the case here.
Meade is called an a-hole by many and I personally haven’t met him or bought anything from him but calling anybody’s customers whores, or other names is not the making of a great argument. I have used the DD-1 and have installed the Audiocontrol Lc2i in three different vehicles and have been very happy with their performance. Meade seems to be a target for others (this guy and the guy from EMF audio) in the business who are envious of his success and feel that he is an easy target because he can be percieved as an a-hole. Improve your business and let others have their own customers.

The scene is pretty small all things considering so there's not really much for competition. Meade surely isn't innocent and pretty sure the history goes way back. If one has a aftermarket deck One probably doesn't need an loc If you have a good strong "clean" source Like a pioneer deck or some such shit then you maybe send that signal to your aftermarket stereo equipment. If you actually pay attention he showed the kicker loc that actually has some technology in it to basically give you a bass boost like the audiocontrol. there is a ground on the socshe that acts as the ground loop isolator you mentioned and of course it was disconnected
Using any kinda external LOC is a waste unless ya using the amps internal LOC, any other loc is just gonna cause problems no matter what, the amps internal LOC is designed to work with the amp so there is no issues!~

The focal has a preamp after the the limiter circuit. It will be clean as long as the headunit is clean. The kicker is also clean and you are wrong that they are all passive you need to open the focal and look inside.
My original complaint was with Steavis testing passive LOC's and then comparing them to a powered type. Even the powered type are only $20 shipped from me.
SMD came from nothing and helped people on his way to the top. His hard work paid off, and if he had an opportunity to gain off of putting his name on products, then all the power to him. Maybe you should put more effort into doing the same instead of shit mouthing him.

I like Steve Meade but I’m glad you brought this to attention. I really feel like he cheated or didn’t show everything in his LOC testing series. I thought it was very suspect when the oscope showed perfect wave but his DD1 magically showed distortion? I’ve used multiple of those line level converters he featured that distorted right away but I can tell you from firsthand experience using an oscope they don’t. If he wasn’t cheating then there’s probably something messed up with his set up like bad RCA’s or that head unit is giving distorted outputs. I understand he’s trying to sell his products and make money and can’t hate on that but I don’t think his marketing was in the right place this time.

What loc would you recommend for a 2020 mercedes with premium audio that needs a load generator? I was thinking the Lc2i pro or the kicker keyloc but the Lc2i pro has load generators

My other concern is the active noise canceling, I'm not sure it I have them but if I do how do I turn it off or can I work with the on?

What you aren't really considering(past the fact that his LOC is ACTIVE) is the aesthetics, some people like their equipment to look nice and not like they had a seizure in the electronics isle at the local walmart. Steve even gave a great alternative in the video in the $20 range from kicker. By this logic, why even both carpeting your speaker boxes or amp boards, who cares just toss it in there as long as it works right? I also don't have to wait months for something from China to show up, and hope its not DOA. My time and customer support is important as well...

I chose to buy a DD1 because I can afford it, and seems to work to me. Going on 6 years same amplifier, same subwoofers zero issues. Prior to DD 1 had a coil burn on a subwoofer that I won’t mention.
It works, more than one way to skin a cat, It does 1 thing 2 different ways, for $200, It better work. For that price it shold cook the cat too! it should be fool proof, It however is not.

Im sure most amplifiers built in speaker level inputs cant handle the power going to the stock sub in my factory Rockford Fosgate system. So yes, most amps have those built in, but will they handle the power going in to it. The LC2i handles 200 watts I believe.

I commented on that video about how he joined the RCA's coming out of the LOC into a Y adapter and when you do that with most LOC's it causes that to go haywire and make all sorts of crazy noises even without the gain up at all or any input BECAUSE THEY ARE STEREO IN/OUT With 2 different gains and how do I know this because I've done it plenty of times with different LOC's and Steve commented back and said no I didn't so I commented back to him and said I can clearly see that they were into a Y adapter. You know I get he's trying to make money but the price he's charging for that is absolutely ridiculous he is seriously ripping off people that have no knowledge of car audio

@@RobotUnderground Sad thing, GM released a TSB for noise in my 2008 DTS. Their fix.... ground loop isolator. Heaven forbid designing a quality head unit. Has the navigation one too. Never had one put in just put up with the noise. It isn't all the time. Mainly when the auxiliary cable is plugged in but nothing is playing.

watched the video and he is using that to detect amplifier clipping. He talks nothing about locs. An amplifier will amplify whatever signal it receives. So if it is getting a garbage signal it will amplify garbage. Not a hard concept to follow. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get overcharged for something that you can find cheaper. However not all locs are created equal. Yes you don't have to overpay for good sound either.

He's just basically himself why would it cost so much? he wouldn't respond. And me and my buddy tested a cheap metra LOC and a cheaper kicker LOC with an oscope and it clipped when the Sony deck we used clipped. As soon as I saw his video I knew he was just trying to sell his product and at $149 😂😂😂. The guy in this video says for people to do their own research and I agree I did all my own research and even tested two LOCs I tried then my buddy tried and we got the same results. @jay jay I would agree however the video I have watched of Steve testing loc he has the hi level o scoped and the loc o scoped simultaneously. Head unit not clipping or distorted and loc signal is. I agree the piece of equipment he sells is overpriced. That being the main discussion we can agree. It seems some don't believe that a cheap loc can or may distort a signal. That argument I agree with Steve on. He is not the only one that has tested them and proved they do. To each their own .A good one will cost more than a cheap one but not as much as the overpriced piece Steve sells.
The HLC-2 is a active device with a mil spec 30V linear tech power supply in it and Burr Brown precision op-amps in it, in a differential instrumentation amplifier arrangement. Yes those are actually gain pots. Those shitty LOCs you are talking about with transformers in them complexity destroy anything below 50Hz. There is a reason the slowest frequency electricity in the world is 50Hz (Japan) because anything slower does not work efficiently with transformers.

My issue with Steve Meade is his insistence that I was lying when I said using the DD-1 cost me 3 recones. After watching EMF Audio’s regarding the DD-1, I commented and he blew up. The fact of the matter is I had my wall completely rebuilt never had any issues prior to utilizing the DD-1to set the gain on my amplifiers. After using the DD-1 I ended up having to re-cone three subwoofers, since going back and utilizing an oscilloscope I have never had an issue
The DD1 works. You'd be surprised how much clipping you actually get at 1% distortion. You will see a nice chop off the wave. If clipping is the main concern (high power systems like yours) O scope will be better. Other distortions show up on Oscope too, you just have to look really close. I could understand Older O scopes not being great, but the resolution on newer scopes is great.
The problem w Steve is he goes straight to calling you a liar, Instead of figuring out what the real problem is. Finding out If the problem is on your end or his, and how to fix it. If you came at Steve straight blaming him, and the DD1, you did the same.
@@kewlbug after researching what me and my teammates found was when I made adjustments to my head unit I was now clipping. I knew how high I could go on the volume but I did not know that if I changed sources (flash drive, iPod) I was now able to clip. At my first show I blew 2 subs and at my next show I blew 1. After reconing my subs and using my o-scope, which is what I normally use, I have never lost a sub and my new high score on music was a 157.4.
@@kendrellholley1975 Right on! Yeah I've noticed different levels from USB, BT and CD sometimes. I can even squeeze a little more juice outta my deck if I +1 my usb and BT. I use both O and DD1 (see my videos) That way you can see everything and voltage. You'll see the clipping barely start on the O just before the DD1 actually pops. But the DD1 is doing what it says it does. Also know Spotify, Amazon, etc will knock you down 14db if you don't turn off volume normalization. put in a CD after that and you'll blow everything. lol

Personally i did watch his video and i think he was pushing too much power from the head unit causing the LLC to clip on the cheaper models not designed for 40 rms. How ever, alot of his tools are great tools to use if you are somebody that works with audio equipment and just need to get it setup quick. Obviously you can use other cheaper tools but i personally have found some of his tools accurate and convenient.

I have been installing car stereo since 1994. Have an extensive electronic background (avionics license) and have used my oscilloscope to set thousands of systems up. Some of which have been trophy setups. I am not convinced that an oscilloscope in qualified hands is second to anything. I am not bashing anyone, nor will I. I speak with my personal experience. I am a major Rockford Fosgate guy, always have been. Maybe my belief in if you want more, buy equipment rated to give you more.. If you use a scope, as soon as you see distortion start at the peak, back it off a bit... That 5 extra watts is not going to make any difference at all to the ear and it isn't worth the cost of reconing subs.... My food for thought
And... as far as this topic goes, I have the Scorpion loc in all 3 of my vehicles.. 6 total units.. I have nothing but good to say about them. $15 each and work beautifully

The power handling of the LC2i and the HLC-2 make them great for factory premium system upgrades. The cheap LOC's you mentioned can't handle that kind of power. The cheap LOC's are introducing an oscillation in the signal. While that oscillation, technically, is not clipping, that is what the DD1 is picking up. Steve showed a clean signal going in and a shit signal coming out. There is no argument. Most LOC's are garbage.

Recoil and Cicada are working on LOC's that have a 3:1 and 2:1 knock down ratio because people overdrive shit.
@@RobotUnderground it is not just people over driving the LOC. Cars are coming with audio packages that will over power the cheap LOC'S. This is something that is discussed on Five Star Car Stereo all the time. A lot of people are getting cars with "premium" audio from the factory. Then they want to replace the woofer with an aftermarket subwoofer. That is where the Kicker KeyLOC and the LC2I work great.

Thats one reason I wemt with the LC2i. I removed the factory subwoofer and used the wire as an inouy signal to the LC2i. That and many of those cheap line output converters have distortion before the meter can even measure voltage. Granted alot of that distortions is inaudible for the most part, especially in the lower frequencies. I like to consider myself somewhat above average when it comes to purchasing audio equipment. I know what amos to buy and not buy. I look at rhe amo dynos and tests. Im definitely not an expert by any means but ive studies alot, especially how tonuse T/S parameters to choose my subs based on my application and type of music I listen to.

First personal attacks make you sound like an upset teenager, I really hope you are better than that.
Second a passive LOC can easily sound bad and have induced harmonics. It has a transformer, minimum of 2 combined inductors. We know inductors behave very differently at different frequencies and power levels. A friend has based a 40 year career in transformer design.
Third you are correct that an LOC will distort when driven too hard. You blame the user for this but what do you do when the radio volume goes to 40 and the LOC will distort at 10? This means you only have 10 steps from nothing to full volume and if you are still running factory speakers alongside the LOC they will never get near full volume?

The SMD tools that Tony designed are freaking excellent. The DD1+ is awesome and it doesn’t lie, if it’s picking up distortion, there is an issue somewhere guaranteed. It is up to you to find it, and sometimes it can be that you were using a burnt copy of the test disc and the laptop that burnt it is a POS and didn’t do a good job of burn. Ask me how I know…….
The AMM-1 is awesome, you can do the lil amp dyno shit for your customers or to test and see what amp is really putting out, You can measure and see how much real world voltage drop you are getting on your power wire and handful of shit. Much better than trying to use a clamp and having that shit mess up.
The IM-SG is excellent for testing speakers, finding out what a box is tuned to, box volume, T/S perimeters of any type of driver and more, awesome unit
The CC-1…… is only handy sometimes if you are forced to use the crossover on an amplifier. Especially nice on motorcycle install. The pot on the crossover is always way off on any amp no matter what brand. It works, is it needed for a normal person? No, hell no.
The first 3 are very nice and important tools. Having your gain set correct is a fucking huge game changer.
The DD1 is a 2 trick pony and I will admit dont know what the + offers but I am sure its not much more and when a Oscope shows you the rails at any Hz how is that not better? a Hantek 2D42 is like $150 and is a awesome oscope. The 2D42 also has a frequency generator built in.
The AMM is badass, $500 worth? No but they own the market so can do what they want.

My experience with a cheap line out converter. I put subs in my truck to replace the factory one. I bought subs, box, amp, and cheap converter. Hooked it all up and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to sound good. I'm not a noob to car stereos ect. So I thought it was the cheap amp I bought. I purchased a much better one. Sound improved but still never sounded right. So I bought an o-scope. Checked the head unit for clipping and at the level I listen to my stereo the signal was clean. Then checked the converter and sure enough no matter what setting/volume I tried it clipped 100% of the time. So agree watching a video from a box maker on the lc2i I purchased an lc2i pro. Immediately resolved the problem. Plus raised the out of from under 1 volt up to 6. I'm not knocking any manufacturers or trying to promote one either. All in saying is the cheap one clipped and the lc2i didn't.

The LOC in your CV amp works fine. There have been MANY active LOC's in the market for much less.
You adjust the Amp with the remote at full. The potentiometer is intact a gain knob.. it adjusts the available input voltage to your amplifier

There are two sets of pots. I think while the signal was clean it was too hot on the first pot. So of course any movement on the 2nd pot would push out the noise. What he was showing was that the signal has noise and that is what the DD1 was picking up. I agree in that the truth was stretched some. At $149/$139 you might as well get a kicker key. At least it will fix all the junk in the signal from factory processing. Guys will buy it though.
Just watched the vid and your right my dad had a 19 dollar 💵 line out converter and it was good identical to SMD expensive junk. His also had a bass nob on his line out converter. His bass was very clear I recommend it to anyone.

Hopefully anybody seeing $150 for a Line out Converter understands the components used in a LOC and how that is expensive beyond measure. I'm surprised that the case is clear and you can see inside. Now if it were powered device then you would know that it is increasing source signal strength which will benefit over all sound quality and clarity (headroom). Plus, your power amps will run cooler the stronger the input signal (voltage). But that's not the case here.
Meade is called an a-hole by many and I personally haven’t met him or bought anything from him but calling anybody’s customers whores, or other names is not the making of a great argument. I have used the DD-1 and have installed the Audiocontrol Lc2i in three different vehicles and have been very happy with their performance. Meade seems to be a target for others (this guy and the guy from EMF audio) in the business who are envious of his success and feel that he is an easy target because he can be percieved as an a-hole. Improve your business and let others have their own customers.

The other audio guys on youtube don’t seriously go after other people and Meade only discusses others in response to their posts. When this guy dumps on Audiocontrol it further shows he is being non sensical. He fails to show Meade’s true mistake in calling all the devices loc’s when some of them are actually line drivers. I don’t think any of them are ripping anyone off but these three definitely bring their emotions into it. D’amore really is a genius and the partnership with Meade is necessary for him to get his designs in stores and into customer’s hands.
@@2011joser Tony is a brilliant engineer, Meade is a good sales man. He got out in front of the wave and took full advantage of it. The scene is pretty small all things considering so there's not really much for competition. Meade surely isn't innocent and pretty sure the history goes way back.
I personally don't agree with the DD1 hype, i have one (i paid $60 and think it's still too much, i paid $150 for my oscope and it shows me what the frequency is and it has a frequency generator to boot and hand held) i like the AMM1 and sooner or later I will shell out the crazy amount because well they own it, no one makes anything close.
Either way all 3 are guilty of misinformation, some because they want to make a buck, some because they simply don't know. Some more so than others.

If you actually pay attention he showed the kicker loc that actually has some technology in it to basically give you a bass boost like the audiocontrol. there is a ground on the socshe that acts as the ground loop isolator you mentioned and of course it was disconnected

Using any kinda external LOC is a waste unless ya using the amps internal LOC, any other loc is just gonna cause problems no matter what, the amps internal LOC is designed to work with the amp so there is no issues!~

The focal has a preamp after the the limiter circuit. It will be clean as long as the headunit is clean. The kicker is also clean and you are wrong that they are all passive you need to open the focal and look inside.
My original complaint was with Steavis testing passive LOC's and then comparing them to a powered type. Even the powered type are only $20 shipped from me.

I like Steve Meade but I’m glad you brought this to attention. I really feel like he cheated or didn’t show everything in his LOC testing series. I thought it was very suspect when the oscope showed perfect wave but his DD1 magically showed distortion? I’ve used multiple of those line level converters he featured that distorted right away but I can tell you from firsthand experience using an oscope they don’t. If he wasn’t cheating then there’s probably something messed up with his set up like bad RCA’s or that head unit is giving distorted outputs. I understand he’s trying to sell his products and make money and can’t hate on that but I don’t think his marketing was in the right place this time.
I really just didn't appreciate that he called those other LOC's garbage when they're not. They just don't handle the same kind of power that others to. Here's the one I've installed almost 100 of. What loc would you recommend for a 2020 mercedes with premium audio that needs a load generator? I was thinking the Lc2i pro or the kicker keyloc but the Lc2i pro has load generators

My other concern is the active noise canceling, I'm not sure it I have them but if I do how do I turn it off or can I work with the on?

What you aren't really considering(past the fact that his LOC is ACTIVE) is the aesthetics, some people like their equipment to look nice and not like they had a seizure in the electronics isle at the local walmart. Steve even gave a great alternative in the video in the $20 range from kicker. By this logic, why even both carpeting your speaker boxes or amp boards, who cares just toss it in there as long as it works right? I also don't have to wait months for something from China to show up, and hope its not DOA. My time and customer support is important as well...

Pat is also wrong at when he says Steve made som errors when using oscope and the dd1 on hi/low converters. Well. If he had noticed, meade just had oscope on the speaker wires coming out of the Deck, not on the rca side of it. To show the signal coming in was sith out clipping.

I chose to buy a DD1 because I can afford it, and seems to work to me. Going on 6 years same amplifier, same subwoofers zero issues. Prior to DD 1 had a coil burn on a subwoofer that I won’t mention.
The industry did just fine without them.

Also, can those inputs on their amp handle the input power comung from the factory system? Im sure most amplifiers built in speaker level inputs cant handle the power going to the stock sub in my factory Rockford Fosgate system. So yes, most amps have those built in, but will they handle the power going in to it. The LC2i handles 200 watts I believe.

I commented on that video about how he joined the RCA's coming out of the LOC into a Y adapter and when you do that with most LOC's it causes that to go haywire and make all sorts of crazy noises even without the gain up at all or any input BECAUSE THEY ARE STEREO IN/OUT With 2 different gains and how do I know this because I've done it plenty of times with different LOC's and Steve commented back and said no I didn't so I commented back to him and said I can clearly see that they were into a Y adapter. You know I get he's trying to make money but the price he's charging for that is absolutely ridiculous he is seriously ripping off people that have no knowledge of car audio

@@RobotUnderground Sad thing, GM released a TSB for noise in my 2008 DTS. Their fix.... ground loop isolator. Heaven forbid designing a quality head unit. Has the navigation one too. Never had one put in just put up with the noise. It isn't all the time. Mainly when the auxiliary cable is plugged in but nothing is playing.
