I've been looking for decks that would be good for kids to learn on. Seems like this is a fit? Especially young girls, of course. I have and love Vanessa Tarot; same kind of feeling.
I LOVE the Curious Creatures deck. It has been so helpful in my self care practice for depression. It encourages me to lighten up and laugh...I even kept the version that is printed a little off kilter because it reminds me that perfection isn't real and it's ok to be a little off. ;) The 8 of Wands card makes me audibly laugh out loud.
Thank you for this beautiful video, you pick up the energies of different decks so clearly. You asked and I answer. Mass market decks that take me into completely different worlds: Dreaming Way - lovely watercolour art, a light touch and a wonderful Korean sense of esthetic. A world full of quirky characters whose thoughts I can only guess. Anna K. Tarot - very expressive faces and scenes, very easy to read. I enter a story-book kind-of-medieval world with it. Universal Fantasy Tarot - a bit like the Abyss Tarot but colourful, like a dark Pre-Raphaelite deck with flowing lines and weird scenes in a world completely different from our own. Field Tarot - beautiful, dreamy, somehow very intuitive for me. A world of grace and beauty where messages come in slowly but clearly. And two fairy tale-inspired mass market decks I like: Tarot of the Divine and John Bauer Tarot. Tarot of the Divine: full colours, fairy tales from all over the world. John Bauer: dark and low-saturation colours, fairy tales from Scandinavia.
What i love about tarot is how often it changes my mind and tunes me in to energies - when I saw Curious Creatures online I thought it was the ugliest tarot ever. Then someone was enjoying it so on impulse I gave it a try - completely different in person - I absolutely love it's energy! To me the litmus test is always "does it feel friendly" (even a dark deck can feel friendly to me) and Curious Creatures definitely does - as well as sassy ;-) It reads super well too. By the way mine was also off centre, but I read that someone spoke to Chris Anne and that design was on purpose as some of the illustrations come out of the frame, eg to "give the design room". Now I may be mis-remembering that, or the person may have got that wrong, there may be some mixed messages going on there but that's what I heard. I'm also pretty sure even in the adverts some of the cards are off centre. One way or another it doesn't feel problematic to me.
I LOVE THE WITCHLING ACADEMY TAROT! I bought it for my birthday in January and I am so glad I did. I love it so much more than I ever thought I would. The world building in the guidebook really sells it. IT'S JUST SO GOOD! The only other mass market deck I own that is that thorough and committed to its theme is the Field Guide to Garden Dragons oracle deck. The notes on the characteristics and behaviors of creatures like the Squash Dragon or Garlic Dragon is just so freaking adorable. It's a very narrow slice of world-building but it is very thought out. I'm a writer and also a TV show fanatic so I adore good world-building. Loved this topic and seeing your pics for it!
My family and I just watched _Sing 2_ last night, and the title of the musical they performed was "Out of This World" I love small (any) synchronicities
I love this series! And my almost-11-year-old daughter loves the Witchling Academy tarot! She already had an RWS clone that she liked to play around with, but her ability to retain all of the card meanings really improved with this deck. Including the story line in the guidebook is such a great concept for beginners. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the art style.
OMG Did I hear right? The Fairy Tarot Lisa Hunt Is being released again? I Absolutely Love This Beautiful Deck and have Always wanted it But unfortunately never Could afford the ROOP Prices I am so Excited about this❤
That's great news! I was interested in getting it as well but like you said, the asking prices are ridiculous! I saw as much as 700$😨 Did she say when about it would come out? I don't have Instagram to go find it
The Ciccoli tarot was the first deck I ever used to give a reading with- my first practice read. I knew nothing about what each card meant in regards to RWS, but looking at the images and going intuitively and telling a story based off the card, it was amazing. I adore the deck and recently got myself the oracle as well 😊
Yay, I'm glad you covered Forest of Enchantment; I think it's one of the best mm decks out there! Witchlings Academy looks like such a fun, story-based way to learn the tarot; I'd love to gift it to my niece. I was surprised not to see Bohemian Animal or Mystical Moments in this list (but maybe you covered Mystical Moments in an earlier one). Hidden Realms and Hush seem to be quite beloved and feel like magical, alternate worlds (and of course Shadowscapes). A couple other mm categories you could cover might be affirmation style decks (Sacred Creators, Affirmators Deluxe), Goddess decks (The Goddess Oracle, Dark Goddess), or pip decks (White Sage, Tattoo Tarot). Another category could be classic art and/or vintage photography (The Influence of Angels, Touchstone Tarot, Relative Tarot), but I'm not sure you if you have any mm decks in those categories. (Influence of Angels has an amazing LWB, by the way). I agree about Tarot of the Abyss! Seeing pictures from people who have colored/added color to their copies, makes me realize I'd really prefer it in color!
The Mythic Tarot has that structure, each Minor suit telling a story. (Witchling Academy). I think it was the first deck to do that. I think some of the folklore-based decks have done that over the years. I think the Kalevala Tarot was like that. That was like, from the 80s.
Thanks for this video. I feel like at this time, more than ever, there are so many that need really affordable decks. I'm so happy that there are so many great decks available.
I have 2 mm decks that pull me into another world really well. Tarot of the Hidden Realm and Legacy of the Divine Tarot. Both use story in the guidebooks to achieve that. TotHR has a short story for each card and LotD has an overarching story that the cards fit into.
My wishlist is growing Thank you Lisa.I love The Forest of Enchantment paired with the Fairytale Oracle by Lucy Cavendish.I got that pairing from you lol.But it goes deep and is so spot on pairing them
These are so great! I’ve been on the fence about the Oracle for Nicoletta because I love the Tarot so much I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like the Oracle but now you have me thinking about it hard lol
I also love "Believe in your own magic" oracle. I was totally against that too at first (too young, not into the "cute witches" thing) but thanks to you and Candy (soil and soul) I got it and 9 times out of 10 it blows me away! The only 1 thing I don't like about it is that the only male in it is shown as abusive. I really feel bad for men in the divination world, they really aren't well represented.
I went straight to Amazon that day, thanks to you and your curious creatures review video and bought me a copy -and my deck wasn't off center like yours was. Did you ever get you another copy? Just curious and yeah, the cardstock could be a little sturdier. It's already starting to wear around the edges. Maybe edging it will help with that, idk. Besides that, I absolutely LOVE it!! I also have and love the tarot of the abyss:) 😃👌The enchanted forest and nicoletta ciccoli tarot are both on my shopping list. Thank you❣️ -I love your's and Peggy's videos:) 😉👍
Lisa thankyou for sharing this video, there are so many really wonderful mass market decks that get overlooked, really enjoyed watching. Your channel is great love watching yourself and Peggy, the energy that comes from you both is lovely 😊🙏💓
I’m obsessed with the Mystic Faerie 🧚🏼 Tarot I absolutely love it and I felt the same as you about the Witchling Academy but the art work is right up my alley….I am definitely purchasing!! Thanks Lisa always a joy!!!
Oh - Is that the Mystic Faerie - Barbara Moore deck? I bought it last December because I love Barbara Moore's writing style. I just haven't had time to read through it or work with it. It looks like each suite is an ongoing story - that will be so nice. Glad to hear someone else is enjoying it.
My favourite Mass Market is the Fountain Tarot, but Tarot of the Abyss is also another masterpiece that I consider underrated. I was so happily surprised to see it mentioned here!
As usual, I found a deck that I want. The witchling academy sounds like a deck well thought of and nicely done! What a great way to navigate tarot .. I would love more tarot decks with a story that takes you on a similar journey .. I smile every time I see the Curious Creatures deck because it is so silly to be a tarot .. yet here it is and you enjoy it 😁.. I can never lolol
Huh. Am I the first person seeing this? Wow. Enchanted Forest - want. Witchling Academy - I have it and didn’t bond with it, but you’ve definitely inspired me to give it another chance. I didn’t read the guidebook straight through, and I obviously should have. Curious Creatures - I don’t need that deck. Nope, nope, not at all. Nicoletta Ciccoli - that’s a serious nope. Her art just seriously creeps me out. Tarot of the Abyss - waffling. I love black and white decks. I think the only reason I haven’t snapped it up is that I don’t like her other decks. This one seems to be done in a very different style, though. Not favorite, exactly, but the mass market deck I am diving into right now is the Buddha tarot. I am finding the guidebook fascinating. I’m also working with Soul Cats, the Paradise Found oracle, and the Bestiary and Crystallary oracles shuffled together. So far, so good with all of them.
I had no idea Enchanted Forrest had a good guidebook. I loved Hidden Realm and haven't found a deck that took me on that kind of journey since. Maybe I will give Enchanted Forrest a try. Some else mentioned Mystic Faerie 🧚🏼 Tarot. Bought it because it's B Moore but haven't worked with or read it. Now i think I'll pull it out and dig in.... I'm in the mood to be whisked away 🐎
What an amazing video, thank you! :) I don't even know on what exactly to start commenting. I guess I will have to come back to it in more detail with more time.
Great choice of decks! My favourite mass market decks are - Affirmators - Dark Wood - DruidCraft - Forest Of Enchantment - Hidden Realm - Hush - Mystical Moments - Wild Unknown Also thank you for talking about the Ceccoli decks a little more. I'm happy to hear you're planning on going into detail further in the future.
For me the "transport" decks from mass market (well I don't have others than mass market decks) would be Dreaming Way tarot, Cosmic Slumber and Shadowscape Tarot. :)
The Witchling Academy is on my wishlist and definitely going to be one I get when I get some money. I chose this deck for Hearth and Home rainy deck. It’s the perfect curling up with a book deck. Another one on my wishlist is Tarot De La Luz. The curious creatures reminds me of the as Sci-Fi TV special called Alice. It’s a take on Alice in Wonderland and it’s great. For the Tarot of the Abyss, you could color with alcohol markers. Really personalize it.
The Mystical Cats and Magical Dogs decks are similar to the Enchanted Forest and are both lovely art with very good guidebooks, I have given good readings with both.
aaahhhh!!! Forest of Enchanment is the first deck I bought when I came back to tarot after a few years hiatus. I adore it. It makes me heart so happy. the art is breathtaking and magical. It reminds me of all my favourite stories growing up. I cannot share my love for the deck enough. the Weaver of Boons (Queen of Pentacles) is who I want to be when I grow up. the guide book is sooooo good with weaving in little story tidbits with the meanings. highly highly recommend. thinking about getting a second copy becuase after 3 years of love mine is starting to show wear.
I think one of my favorite story style decks is the Haunted House tarot. Even though it just has a LWB it's in a sort of story form. Feel like you're going through the haunted house with the main character. Dark Wood as well, makes sense since Sasha Graham wrote the guidebook for both.
I know I've said it a bunch, but I adore the Kawaii tarot. I have it, can't recommend it enough. Good to know the Justice card blob was a printing error and not like a cloud or something. Lisa is there another deck (tarot or Oracle) that you feel pairs well with the Kawaii tarot in a reading? I've been wanting to play with spreads and pairs lately.
I'm a big animals person, but I'm not really into animal heads on people bodies. So I initially wrote off Tarot of Curious Creatures. Your walk-through and a few others are making me reconsider. I'm going to give it a try next Hay House sale. I adore the LWB for the Ceccoli Tarot. It's so great! I use the LWB all the time.
I felt the same way, but after watching her review and her contagious enthusiasm about each card in the deck, I had to go buy it right away! It just speaks to me -it's very creative and well done. I love it so much! 😊👌
I got the Nicoletta Ciccoli tarot but couldn't bond with it kept making me think about the rough childhood I had (one of the wands cards I had a really bad reaction to) but I like the other ones may have to check them out.
I am still on the fence about Curious Creatures because it is heteronormative (suits, dresses), all same body type and all bodies are human. These things would not have bothered me so much years ago but the world is more aware and inclusive. Not sold on it yet but really like the ideas in the art. The Witchling Academy tickles me! Thank you for this great line up, Lisa.
Your videos are very well-made and always incredibly insightful and delightful. I just have one request and that is… Could you please speak just a little slower ? I know that it's a habit of folks these days to speak very quickly but I find it to be an element that builds up a stressful experience when watching a full video. That's just a request, not a criticism. As a professional singer and public speaker I know that the tone of your voice would be easier to appreciate if you just slow down a wee bit. Please keep making videos and sharing your world of Tarot with everyone.

I am 63 years older and I love the
Witching Academy Handbook Tarot
it's FUN 🎉
I've been looking for decks that would be good for kids to learn on. Seems like this is a fit? Especially young girls, of course. I have and love Vanessa Tarot; same kind of feeling.

That's a good way to think of it. Wabi sabi.

Omg! I had to pause mid video to comment! I did not know that Lunaea had written the guidebook for the ceccoli tarot, well now I need that deck too! 😂
Such a cool easter egg!!!
My current favourite mass market decks to work with are:
The Wizards Tarot and The Tarot of the Abyss
Lisa thankyou for sharing this video, there are so many really wonderful mass market decks that get overlooked, really enjoyed watching. Your channel is great love watching yourself and Peggy, the energy that comes from you both is lovely 😊🙏💓
The Ceccioli Tarot is so creepy in the best way possible! I used it for Inner Child/Shadow work. I HIGHLY recommend !
I’m obsessed with the Mystic Faerie 🧚🏼 Tarot I absolutely love it and I felt the same as you about the Witchling Academy but the art work is right up my alley….I am definitely purchasing!! Thanks Lisa always a joy!!!

I love Dancing in the Dark and Bianco Nero tarot decks.
You have good taste my friend, think you are saving me money too, and supporting appropriate choices for moi 🙂 thank you

Great choice of decks!
My favourite mass market decks are
- Affirmators
- Dark Wood
- DruidCraft
- Forest Of Enchantment
- Hidden Realm
- Hush
- Mystical Moments
- Wild Unknown
Also thank you for talking about the Ceccoli decks a little more.
I'm happy to hear you're planning on going into detail further in the future.
Ooooh yes these are great! thank you for sharing your faves!
This was delightful! I too love the first two decks you shared, and I'm getting more and more curious about the Ceccoli decks.
The Mystical Cats and Magical Dogs decks are similar to the Enchanted Forest and are both lovely art with very good guidebooks, I have given good readings with both.
YESSS I highlighted this pair in my previous Mass Market Madness!
aaahhhh!!! Forest of Enchanment is the first deck I bought when I came back to tarot after a few years hiatus. I adore it. It makes me heart so happy. the art is breathtaking and magical. It reminds me of all my favourite stories growing up.
I added colour to the tarot of the abyss. I’d love to show you how it turned out but can’t find a way to add a picture
@@christyc625 I'm hoping that will be my experience once I get it too. 😊
Witching Acadamy has been on my list for awhile. There was an anime witches academy series on Netflix I just adored. It looks fun!!
I got the Nicoletta Ciccoli tarot but couldn't bond with it kept making me think about the rough childhood I had (one of the wands cards I had a really bad reaction to) but I like the other ones may have to check them out.
I have the Tarot of Curious Creatures that I absolutely love
Hey Lisa, I'm coming to see you.
I really like the Curious Creatures tarot but it doesn't call to me to purchase it.
Oh boy, a big no no no on all these decks. Fun seeing your excitement though!
What oracle deck do you think would pair with the somnia tarot
I love the Forest of Enchantment - even though I stumble occasionally over the renamed suits, the meanings of the cards are usually pretty clear.
Another mass market deck that has deep worldbuilding is Tarot of the Cat People (US Games), which has this whole backstory about an explorer visiting the various cultures depicted in the cards. In fact I love it so much I picked up a vintage special edition on ebay (for only about the price of an indie deck) which includes a companion book that goes into much more depth about the setting.
What is your favorite fairytale style deck? This is my favorite style of deck personally.
