It took me a very long time before i could even acknowledge that what he did to me was abuse and wrong and that he took advantage of me. because it felt good and i had these deluded feelings toward him i made excuses and kept it in for over a decade, i thought because i liked it and him it couldn’t be molestation and it was my fault for liking it and allowing him to do it. just saying everyone’s story is different, but i in no way support oprah and the way she has used her platform as a victim herself is disgusting.

Some kids don’t realise what’s happening and that’s what makes the abuser ‘good’. They are able to do it without the victim knowing it’s wrong. I know several people who went through this. That’s the reason I can’t get through interviews that either Jimmy Fallon or Howard Stern do. As far as Howard it really irritates me because unlike Jimmy (probably because he’s on radio and can ask what he wants) he actually asks really interesting questions that I don’t see other people asking and celebs for whatever reason feel comfortable answering even really personal stuff but the problem is he doesn’t shut up long enough for anyone to finish their answers. He asks a question, let’s them start saying really interesting things then before they finish he asks the follow up question and does it the whole interview. I can’t tell you how many times guests would be in the middle of revealing really interesting sometimes very personal things they’ve never revealed publicly and he keeps cutting them off. With Jimmy most of the interviews I see now it’s so obvious he just does not give a shit what the person is talking about. He wants a short answer so he can ask the next planned question and be done. There’s a reason he’s famous for that awful fake laugh, he’s not at all interested. I started looking at comments to see if people agreed and most comments are usually complaining about the same thing. I recently watched a Seth Meyers’ interview with Taylor Swift and most comments were mentioning how good the interview was because Seth mostly just let her talk, seemed genuinely interested and Taylor seemed very comfortable when she isn’t always in interviews and everyone was comparing it to Jimmy’s interviews. Another person I think is really good at this Stephen Colbert. He’s a great interviewer and is very thoughtful about follow up questions and one of the few who don’t seem creepy with young female celebs. I was a kid when Oprah had her show so I never watched. Sorry this was unintentionally long 😂.

The interview to this day it is still the no. 1 most watched interview in television history. She still hasn't been able to top that interview. Michael gave her that opportunity because I think he genuinely liked and trusted her. Then a little bit after he passed, she did an interview with the entire Jackson family and his children to discuss his death and etc. She is such a snake in the grass, she pretended to be saddened by his death and etc.. But she wasn't. The Jacksons trusted her to let her interview his kids and etc. Then 10 years later she goes on to do this documentary and says, "It's time we say goodbye to Michael Jackson".. I don't remember the name of the family or the boy, but basically a boy went missing when he was eight or nine and was held captive between two men for ... something like ten years. Oprah invited the family onto the show with a promise of getting the parents professional help for their son, and they agreed under one condition. That Oprah didn't ask them or their son about SA. Their son hadn't been open about it with anyone, even though everyone suspected that's why he was held captive. Partway through the interview, Oprah said, verbatim, "I'm just gonna come out and say it. Do you think he was SAed?" The parents started crying, clearly didn't want to answer, and it was just horrendous. Absolutely monstrous thing to ask them on live television. Oprah is talking about child abuse, where you’re being groomed. Being groomed is very different. Children who are groomed, have the trust gained, are made to feel special and these abusers are good at doing that. Grooming picks out vulnerable people and when you are made to feel special they can sexually take advantage of you without the use of force. They make you feel like you’re consenting. Being raped by your partner, I’m so sorry, that isn’t the same now. It’s obvious Oprah was separating the general term of rape from actual grooming of underage children.

@@LeilaVividSounds Thank you. I’m really disturbed by how many people don’t know about grooming for children and how many victims were manipulated into feeling that they “liked” the abuse. Now people are writing everywhere that what Oprah said about this is not true, and it’s going to make so many victims feel shame and alone.
If anyone who was groomed and liked the attention of the abuse at the time the abuse was occurring-you are NOT an anomaly. This happens so often, but many victims don’t talk about it because they feel it’s their fault the abuse happened. You “enjoying” the attention from the abuser was the abuser’s grooming/manipulation. They had psychological power over you to the point where they made you believe you were consenting when you were not. Your brain is not fully developed as a child, so there are abusers that will take advantage of this and mold it the way they want. This is NOT your burden to carry-it is the abuser’s. They knew what they were doing, and you did not. You are a survivor, and you should not carry ANY shame because you did NOTHING wrong. It is solely the abuser’s fault.

It’s really troubling how some people have twisted Oprah’s words in that scene. She’s not calling an abuser “good”-she is referencing abusers that groomed their victims so well that they tricked them into believing they wanted the abuse. This happens to MANY victims, and it’s a deep shame many carry with them. Oprah is shining light on this shame and saying it is not a burden for the victim to carry, but for the abuser. That’s why she’s saying if the abuser is “good” enough (at grooming/manipulating the child), the child will not understand it’s abuse at the time and will think it was a relationship or a special bond. She’s not being creepy, and she’s speaking for many victims who have felt shame for “liking” the abuse at the time.

The true of the matter is we sometimes put too much expectation on another human being, at the end of the day we can choose to be a victim from a pass situation or overcame it an become victorious. The rabbit hole goes deep and it's very hard to understand but I have met so many victims who feel like it's no big deal, or they want to inflict that pain onto others. I've even met a few that were abused at a young age and now they have an s3xual obsession with children. The human mind is a deep well full of mysteries that science can not explain, yet. The quote “ Hurt people, hurt people.” comes to mind. You never know how trauma will affect a person's psyche, this is why you have to pay attention to the signs and red flags. I have ignored red flags multiple times, it always ends badly for me and I'm left with another deep wound that I have to heal. Thank goodness it hasn't cost my life or freedom

I had a somewhat mentorship/relationship with MoNique years ago. She is a very kind person. I wish her the best and she can be free from the hurt caused by Oprah.

Yes! I am so excited for this!
I never understood why people put her on a pedestal! Her words are so mean hidden under kindness and understanding to people on her show.

Apparently my dad knew someone who constructed a house for her or something and she wasn’t very nice. Unfortunately before i could hear more, my mom interjected and saying how you can’t assume something about someone based off of one story.
