From the tape insert: "This is easily our most alienating record since 'Streetcleaner'. It's intentionally cold, bleak, and dead, ...a negative response to the current music scene. 'Merciless' is a very conceptual record, made to be listened to as a whole and not as a singular part...." - Justin Broadrick, *GODFLESH*
I've owned this CD for years and it took a long time to grow on me. I like a lot of their other stuff but this particular release is more of an acquired taste

Excellent. Not only did you commit a petty crime against your employer and get away with it, you also used the proceeds to get something that totally kicks ass. Good for you, son 👍
My knowledge of my own weaknesses,my fear of my own tendencies towards iniquity are my greatest strength as I struggle to overcome my humanity and fallibility.

Curious that not being in the original cd single I got in 94 ... guess he must have listened to Coil´s " Born again Pagans " and reconsidered .

I worked at a pizza joint when this came out and bought it on cassette, with quarters, stolen from the video games!
bravo. A 'Pure' acquisition

Man.. Justin's music got me through many years of my pitiful existence. I feel like he just "gets it".
People who listen to Godflesh tend to be gigachads
@@sortevind I confirm
Same, and not only with Godflesh
His first album on Jesu was really sad so he definitely gets it.
@@anab8412 I like to add Xasthur too.
A terribly underrated Godflesh record
Все эти 30 лет я уверен что это их лучший альбом.

Green's tone on 'Unworthy' is the kind of stuff dreams are made of.
Absolutely.
Or nightmare evolve from....
If apocalypse had a sound, it would be the bass on Unworthy. Utterly crushing. Fantastic EP, perhaps my favourite of all of Godflesh.
There is a certain type of day where the only catharsis is to crank the title track up and let it disrupt me.
The cover is from Maya Deren's surrealist film Meshes of the Afternoon 1943 in case anyone was curious
Thanks!
So dark & heavy. Birmingham born & bred.
Benny's bassline throughout Unworthy, fucking A!
Thiccest bass in the genre
My favorite Godflesh release.
That bass tone growls
Justin's vast array of different genres of music makes him and his band mates the most underapperciated band in the rock world
best quote for this is taken from a RIP magazine "The end is near...Godflesh is here"
Flowers is one of fav Godflesh tracks.
My knowledge of my own weaknesses,my fear of my own tendencies towards iniquity are my greatest strength as I struggle to overcome my humanity and fallibility.
This IS the best EP i've ever heared in my 45 years ... fuckin' awesome. Godflesh IS GOD.
A little piece from His great Infinity ,yeah this is Band is different
Fear Factory was very influenced by this band, for sure.Great sound!
Godflesh is one of my fav band, ever with Neurosis...It haunts me. So wonderful.
Outside of early Swans, this is pioneering heavy industrial musick.
Andrew Buchanan-Carter true. They are the musical equivalent of the Terminator
They are known for citing their influences as being the power violence band Siege and underground industrial band Swans
Don't think they have any relationship with Swans

Show no mercy, Kicked me to the ground
Felt no pain, You're deaf to every sound

Listen to Streetcleaner
..."your deaf to every sound" ...cept Godflesh hah!
This describes the way you are after a Godflesh show!
What is this a band ,No this is Something greater from beyond .godflesh.
This is similar to walking into a Russian factory on a bad acid trip.
