Shady Rays code is down for the holiday season... sorry guys
I bought a couple of pairs and they are great sunglasses!
i'm waiting for someone to roast me about having my line wrapped when I hooked that lanty, usually you guys are on top of stuff like that! I hope you all enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Fish Fray you should have kept that Atlantic and turned in the head to the dnr. I’m pretty sure I saw that the adipose fin was clipped so it probably had a chip in its head and those mean a lot to the dnr.
+Kyle Smith I know about the chips and I thought about this but I was selfish and wanted to give the fish a chance to spawn haha. I know one of the biologists and he didn't seem to mind that I released it. I bet those loose lanty eggs would have been amazing bait though... A tough decision was made haha
Fish Fray haha all is good! And yeah I’m sure those eggs would have been amazing! Tight lines!
I wouldn't roast you on the wrap but it's not good for the rod. I'd hate to see you loose it. Happy fishing... BTW if you ever want to learn some new water in PA we got great water for steelhead muskies and smallies. Tons of fly fishing opportunity
It often happens to me as well, lol.
Es Nice tú si You Videos
Nice ... stocker
Love this channel! Best Great Lake salmon/trout videos out there...
+Riley Wells thanks ! I fish for all kinds of stuff but fall is time to focus on lake run species
clipped dorsal must be a stocked fish. probably explains why i didnt fight as hard as atlantics should
Or and escapes fish farm fish
You're supposed to keep every one you catch. They escaped from a fish farm years ago
No shit??? Interesting as hell
Where are you catching these ? Dosent look like anywhere on the eastcoast
That’s a massive tic
Love your salmon videos
Way to go man, congrats! And I just want to say that your content is amazing especially your editing, keep it up!!
Nice work! Beautiful fish!
+Precision Angling Thanks
Congrats - sweet catch!
Super pumped for ya, Atlantic's are a remarkable fish to have in our fishery
Thanks, they are so cool!
We have many of alantics in Michigan down in the southern part of lake Huron. Fun fish to catch
I LOVE YOUR VIDS AND I LOVE FISHING
Brother you not the only one. I was fishing in the patasco river in maryland. And is supposed to not exist in that river atlantic salmon. I caught one.
I was trying to catch trout they stock that river every year.
So anyways. I take home believing was a huge trout. And when i was harvest. I see orange meat and I was so speechless. I have pics if you can help me identify this fish.
Great video!
+Adidas Is Bae thank you!
Aagreat video fish fray is probably my favourite fishing channel
Beautiful fish
+Ralph Barton thanks!
This is how you edit Fly fishing videos, great work man. Keep it up!
Great video. You seem to know your way around a fly rod. Sounds like you have a real passion for salmonoid fishing
Great footage all through the video. Congrats on the sweet atlantic salmon catch and the new drone.
Thank you!
Their native too
Man I missed u thank God for this
Caught a fee from lake Ontario tribs. They are beautiful fish. The some bright sides and the blue looking back underwater gives them away. I could tell you knew well before you landed her. Congrats!
Dude thats awesome
Would it be legal to bowfish on those locations?
Great video! I really enjoy what you're doing. I also liked the one from Thanksgiving. I'm from Ohio and want to get into steelhead fishing here. I've been to busy and time isn't my friend. Keep doing what your doing!
Congratulations on the Atlantic salmon catch! Now you need an albino steelhead!
awesome video man lol the clear water footage of the fish looked pretty cool
+Basic_Fishing thanks !
You mean to tell me that Atlantic swam from the Atlantic Ocean, up the st. Lawrence River, hopped-up Niagara Falls scooted over to Lake Michigan and you hooked it. Hahaha nice fish and crazy clear water! So cool!
@GospelFisherman Well the populations that were fished to extinction at one point likely swam up the lawrence to reach lake ontario and the few other great lakes they established in
Nice catch.
Congrats Man!! Atlantics are definitely a heck of a lot of fun. If you're ever up near Sault Ste. Marie in the U.P. shoot me a dm. The number of atlantic salmon in the St. Marys is absolutely insane. For the last few weeks my friends and I have been slaying them on spinners and spoons. A friend actually got one on a streamer today. The ones we're catching from shore right now are mostly all drop-back spawners so we've just been releasing them. Never seen that chrome of a female for this time of the year though! I kid you not, just on a 2/3 oz little cleo silver/blue spoon I've gone 15/17 on atlantic salmon and 1/1 on an 18 inch steelhead in THE LAST 2 DAYS!! That was all after school Friday and this morning! It's unreal right now. My buddies have also been lighting them up. The spoon bite is en fuego right now. Of the 15 only 1 has been female that I landed. A buddy got a pre-spawn female this morning though so they filled up a Meijer bag full of golden spawn. Have a couple atlantic salmon videos up on my channel if you want to check them out. Fish On!
+Mikael Ranta Outdoors That's awesome man. I think I might have one or two of your buddies on my snapchat, I've been seeing lots of Atlantic stories the past few weeks! Sounds like I blast, I'll have to check out your videos
Where could I find a tying video for that streamer you’re using?
Those fish were really aggressive for that black streamer! Heck ya! Great video and great fishing!
Nice! Atlantic salmon are surprisingly more rare than Cohos in the part of Erie in PA I've been too, such a cool looking fish. Nice job and great video!
Omgg bro can I pay you for guide service? Looking to catch my first any species of trout/ salmon anything! Thanks ❤
Wow, a Salar The Leaper very nice”👍
+Hal Eckert thank you!
Great catch, learning species I did not know about. Lower that go pro just a bit! Lol congrats on the fish!
Ahhh what do you know an Atlantic Salmon!!! Remember I told ya that little parr you had was an Atlantic Parr. I knew it ;)
That Atlantic nodded
I think you're right on that fish being an Atlantic. Have not heard of them on Lake Michigan streams. Huron, yes. Congratulations!
Damn Fray that was SICK!!! Don’t beat yourself up. She made it fur sure. Totally stoked for ya 🤙. Shady rays huh🤔
Awesome footage I fish on the Scottish Borders where Atlantic salmon and seatrout are the target, fantastic to see your enthusiasm and believe me it never goes away. Loved the drone footage. What do you use for your editing?
That was good letting that first fish go👍
+GameMasta14 Thanks , I hope she spawned!
Woah this is such a cool video!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Allie Hayes thanks random girl I do not know!
atlantics are my fav by far
Just be you man. Stop worrying about the self-reflection of what you may or may not be doing right. I enjoy your video's because they are pure. Your cinematography is good, your ranting is perfect, and the fishing is great.
I agree with Michael... Remember, if you catch a half dead salmon that has already spawned, you can always do some first aid before releasing it. It's what all truly ethical cool kid fisherman do. I usually apply an anti-biotic ointment and make sure to handle it with pre-packaged sterile organic latex gloves I get a my local hospital. Also, you should use size 22 hooks and seven x and fish on rivers 200 feet wide. Anything else is uncivilized.... Just kidding man. Reading some of the comments on these awesome videos just bugs me. Keep up the good work.
That is dope man
Thanks man!
I guess dope means good
Great fish man! I'm jealous
+WNY Fishing thanks ! I'm headed to WNY this month!
Fish Fray where in NY?
+WNY Fishing planning to fish Burt dam or oak orchard with some of my friends, none of us have ever fished Ontario tribs
Fish Fray it's a battle at both tribs man. If you go to them I'd recommend a weekday, weekends are loaded, check out my Burt dam video to see all the idiots lol
+WNY Fishing we would be there on a weekday morning mid December. Figured we could find some areas with fish, we have 4 of us to stake out a spot haha. I think I've already seen your vid
Could you do a "basics of fly-fishing video" you seem really experienced. Great Video and keep it up.
Good stuff brotha!
Atlantic salmon is one of my favorite fish to cook and eat.
+tim putman Thanks, looked tasty!
YES
Dang that really is rare fray I don't think I ever saw one in wild myself nice job
+Waasmowin Craven thanks !
Is that a mich ATL fray?
Looks like the adipose was clipped. The fish stocked in Lake Huron and Thunder Bay River have the adipose clip so that could be where she came from.
atlantic salmon come up the river a month before the other salmons
Hey, I was just wondering what rod and reel you were using in this video?
I gotta go to Michigan to fish now
+Matt Koss Michigans overrated, Ohio's where its at😂
Dope video bud. Just subbed
+Handberrydea Thanks, welcome to my channel!
Great video. It is fantastic that you found an Atlantic Salmon in that creek. I also hope she finds a mate. Does the fish and wildlife service stock that creek with smolts? First I have heard that Atlantic Salmon have been introduced into lake Michigan. No snow yet? Thanks for posting. Just subscribed.
+Edward Dergosits Thanks , no stocking in the lake Michigan tributaries yet, but lake Huron is getting increased numbers of Atlantics stocked. This fish is likely a stray from lake Huron. We had snow stick for a day in November but it's long gone. Welcome to my channel!
Gratulation to the atlantic salmon!
+Andreas Herbeck Thanks!
Just curious what type of camera gear you are using??
dope video...
thanks!
If you want some really good fly fishing for Atlantic salmon you should check out Humber river outfitters in Newfoundland and Labrador Canada
Yo first what's up guys beautiful fall day
+Guyon Fishing 💁
I catch them all the time in New Brunswick
+Damon MacDonald that's awesome
Do you use sink tips or split shots in this vid?
+Jordan Pinnell the fly has a cone head but that's the only weight I used, I was fishing a floating line
#NOTIFICATIONSQUAD Love the consistency in the uploads, keep it up 👌
Thanks for the support!
When did you film this video?
Great videos man. If nothing else, your last couple videos prove the notion, "You don't know unless you go." Gotta get out there and see if anything pulls back!
Best vids
+Bobby Barnhardt thanks !!!
On the fly
Come to Newfoundland and Labrador we have great Atlantic salmon fishing
+Philip Griffin that would be awesome
Fish Fray . It is and great content
shout out to nl by
I caught my first atlantic here in newfoundland when I was just 4 years old
Hey bud where do you get your flies from? Besides the ones you’re tying yourself. Thanks
+Den Maley I tie 99% of the flies I use myself, including the one I used in this video
What river is that
Is that the same marabou streamer that u posted a video on how to tie
Looks like you fish places I hope to be fishing in the coming years. I'm wondering what fly rod you use in those Michigan rivers/creeks. Do you have different rods for salmon then for trout? What weight rods, what kind of fly line and typical leader lenght and sizes?
+Timothy Watson I've been using my 8wt in the past several videos . I also have a 6wt that I sometimes use for steelhead, and a 3wt for trout
i need a fly rod
Awesome video! What was the water temp? The one and only Atlantic I caught on a fly rod kicked my butt. I would have expected more from the one you caught. Congrats, unlike the Steelhead, I know this was your first.
Damn that view at 2:46 makes me wanna salmon fish so bad. Best view in the world
Hi FishFray, Massive congratulations from me, whose coho release scene was uploaded on one of your videos a few months ago. Your atlantic salmon appears much more fresh than many caught in AuSable river (e.g.: facebook.com/pg/Streamside-Custom-Rod-Guide-Service-173535778204/photos/?ref=page_internal). I wonder if she/he intended to spawn in that creek this fall.
Last month, by the way, I presented the most popular video of yours in my lecture @ Cleveland for introductory purposes, and it was well received. Thanks for allowing me to show that video. I am looking forward to watching your center-pin fishing videos in the near future, since I also just bought a center pin reel and rod. I hope you will have a success this December, which has been warmer than usual. Take care.
Did that Atlantic grab an egg, or something on the surface after you released it right before it cut away?
Also do you know if they are a strain of true Atlantic salmon, or a landlocked strain?
I really liked the video. We have landlocked Atlantic salmon in our lakes, and they are the best fish to catch with a fly rod trolling early spring. I’ve always wanted to catch one on fly rod in a river though.
+Z Wiggles these are a landlocked strain, this one likely came from lake Huron. Im not sure what it was doing on the surface but I saw it do it twice. Very strange fish
They grab air for there air pocket. It's helps them stay up right. I think it's called a buoyancy bubble . They lose it when you hook them and they start to spin so when Fray released the fish it didn't have a buoyancy bubble until I took a gulp of air.
+David Niedbala wow, interesting, thanks for sharing! Hope she's ok!
David Niedbala its a swim bladder
Never new that about the Atlantic’s/LLS. Thanks.
Fish fray if you ever get a chance to catch one trolling they are the most acrobatic fish I have seen in freshwater. They probably would also put on a good show in a deeper river.
Don't look like an atlantic I catch Atlantic's I reckon it's a farm fish or some sort of hybrid
Can I ask what part of michigan? Starting to get into fly fishing.
+Matthew Sampier western
Where did it come from
+Anders Battiston probably lake huron
I noticed that Atlantic had her adipose fin clipped. Must have been stocked by someone.
My school actually first stocked them in Michigan. But I've heard of rumors they make their way all over the place. What general location was this fish found in Michigan?
Western mi
@@FishFray that's actually pretty rare! Especially on that river too. They can be pretty common in some parts of the u.p.
Man your always catching these rare fish HOWWWW🤔
0:34 I like that
Thanks man, its all in the camera motion.
Are these landlocked? Because these look nothing like the Atlantic salmon we catch in Ireland
Yup, Great Lakes
Unfortunately a farmed raised fish pen broke in the salt ealier this year in Washington state and around a couple hundred thousand of alantics ecaped.(most around 10 lbs) Then we started catching them in the rivers. They are considering an evasive species here.
Anyways nice fish.
Chris Thayer I remember that happened a few years back when I was living there. Cool catch for sure, last I heard they were spawning there. Might help the fishery now that steelhead aren't stocked in pudget sound (when I left they weren't anymore don't know if that has changed).
Puyallup river recently started a steelhead run and they are getting ok returns. Can't fish them yet, maybe in a few more years they will open it up to keep them.
Chris Thayer hopefully they do allow keeping of steelhead in future. That area needs some more opportunities with the closed rockfish, salmon netting and loss of planted steelhead. Still amazing place to live!
4:47 your line was wrapped around your rod
What state is this caught from? I just started watching your videos.
Is this the platte?
H&F Michigan no I️ fish with Fray this is called the screaming river it’s about 50 miles north from traverse city
Ashton Gates what river?
Uploaded when I was in school, couldn't be first... Sad
+Just Zijlstra :(

+Just Zijlstra Wow that's awesome
MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE LET ME KNOW THAT MY SHADY RAYS DISCOUNT CODE IS NOT WORKING. SORRY ABOUT THIS!!! I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE WORKING BY TOMORROW.
Our of curiosity, how did u know it was an Atlantic?
+Jackson Steller the mouth and the spots
What state is this
Eric Santaella Michigan
Nice catch but that atlantic salmon looks kinda wierd? I fish them all the time in the summer, but yours looked special
+BenBro it's the only one I've ever seen, but it was a strange looking fish
Fish Fray you should come to Norway and fish them! But nice video :)
+BenBro thanks, I'd love to catch a native one someday
