It's been so fascinating seeing celebrities at home this year. They're much more relaxed and less guarded and come off quite differently.
And, quite truly, most of them are appearing without any makeup or getting their hair done. No glamour -- just the real person, like talking to your neighbor. So refreshing. Television might never be the same again.
@@markmh835 oh I'm sure they got makeup and hair did. Just not at the uber professional level they usually get when they have to go out to promote stuff.

Meryl, in my one experience, seems very down to earth. I met her at a small charity event - put together by Olivia Newton-John. After the event, during cake & drinks, Meryl was more than accomodating to my friend. He is not starstruck, and it was in a smaller setting, albeit a big house. But the conversation wasn't rushed etc.
Meryl was with Tracey Ullman and Tracey and I jokingly rolled eyes at each other that we might be "baggage" to their chat. They talked about all sorts of things, nothing about her films. I know she was 100% sincere & had such a sense off humor - volleyiing w/ him about an Australian pearl that she had bid on and won, (a very funny, naughty story unto itself). I don't think celebs "owe" a chat to fans but a smile / thank you gesture. Some who refuse any pleasantries with fans, (not autograph sellers who I hv seen push fans around - yuck, scum!), need a course in humility. Maybe it was the circumstance, but Meryl Streep, was so kind, so funny & down to earth. I was "starstruck" to meet both women, but said little to nothing. I sort of stood on " the sidelines" & happily laughed and observed. Sorry to write so much - it is a great memory that left me really impressed.

I have just watched the film Let Them All Talk and I am so very much impressed. I liked everything about it. The acting, costumes, music, but most of all the improvised dialogues wchich made them so natural. The tempo of the film was natural too, not too fast, and the story unfolded so gracefully yet with sudden twists.
I am so grateful to Stephen Colbert for the interview with the great star Meryl Streep.

As a Canadian, I cannot deny the essential role HBC played in the formation of our country, but I cannot condone their role in the colonial suppression of indigenous culture. The continued promotion of the legacy of the iconic blanket is problematic due to its alleged role as a vector for spreading small pox in the 1800s.
You forgot the part where 3 Canadian University science labs found no evidence that HBC actively or knowingly distributed "small pox infected blankets" to the native population. There is evidence that the company pro-actively tried to curb the outbreak within the population.
