This movie was the perfect example of how different a movies quality changes when an artist/director/writer that loves respects and appreciates the content it is inspired by versus a Hollywood company looking to cash in on a franchise’s previous success. The artist is always right and Del Toro gave us the perfect love letter to kaiju and mecha films while this films just poured in as much money to give a giant CGI brawl without any character development and proper story telling. The first film did such an amazing job with all the characters especially Mako and the captains relationship with the scene of young mako being saved by him being one of the best damn scenes in mecha kaiju film history
This movie felt more like transformers honestly I never got the sense of scale like the last movie did these robots and monsters felt giant in the first movie I think it’s how they shot from the humans perspective mostly instead of these huge wide shots

This sequel was fairly dissapoointing to me tbh, while it was good, and a great spectacle, it just wasnt the greatest way to follow up the first Pacific Rim movie. The Jaegers move too quickly, and behave more like power rangers megazords whereas in the first one, they moved like actual GIANT ROBOTS. And the way they killed the only returning character from the first one... (Mako) that was soul crushing. The sequel that was set up at the end of "uprising" should have been what they did at the end of this one...... not set up for another sequel that probably will not be made. The first movie didnt set up a sequel, because it DIDNT NEED ONE. It ended up with the hero gettting the girl, the Kaiju gone, the Precursors blown up, the world able to celebrate. Then along comes Uprising..... and the threat is now a man made one..... and it was just underwhelming. I would have preferred to see a single breach open, and the precursers themselves arrive with Jaegers of their own, made of the mix of Jaeger and Kaiju parts, and ACTUALLY TAKING OVER...... which would make the secondary title, "uprising" more potent, as humanity would have to scramble to make NEW Jaegers to RISE UP against the alien opressors destroying the earth. Thats just me though..... i would love to hear your thoughts on my own ramblings, But thank you MR. Brain Junkie for you fantastic recaps!

Uprising just screams the Hollywood Touch: making a great, memorable title and then follow it up with a shitty sequel.
I don’t know what these people are talking about with “a whole essay.” If they read it to the end then why are they complaining about it? Dude, you had the analysis of this movie spot on. It was truly a let down from the first one. While I would have loved to see more of the characters from the first one, I would have also enjoyed a sequel that contained more fights with the jaegers. Uprising had the fights but they weren’t as compelling as the ones in the first ones. I like your idea of what it should have been. They should have put you in the production team.

Its a lame movie i already seen it a thousand times the beginging is that the black guys dad died trying to kill somekind of sea creature and and the guy tried ti walk in his dad's footsteps and trained with other people .

The explosion in the beginning wasn’t the cause to end the war, it was taking the kaiju inside the breach, bringing in a yager, and expounding it inside cause the breach to collapse
@Jurassic Hero It is actually rather naive to think a whole other reality would just keep their whole civilization next to a portal.. what we saw destroyed was most logically assumed to be a military base, not the society that ran it. Think about every movie we make where humans open the portal to another reality.. same logic would apply to another advanced society

Am I the only one that thinks Gyspie (or however you spell it) could have saved the helicopter if he would have used the gravitation things on it and saving the pilot and dudes sister?

@@repreduck but they had enough time to transform the hand into the gravity gun throw a bunch of cars at Obsidian Fury using the gravity gun, change the arm back into it's hand, turn around and charge towards the helicopter only to scrape it with the tip of it's finger. I'm pretty sure they had more than enough time to just aim the already transformed gun at the helicopter

This was a GREAT movie recap... Subscribed. I hope they make more movies that are neutral and free FROM the drag of all things real life political, or which are used to propagate certain political ideologies, or create division, or to attack certain groups. Movies that are like this one, which someone can escape into, for an hour or two, from the drag of the world's politics, hatred, hostility, etc. And movies that are humorous, or action, sci-fi, fantasy, horror movies, like human hero pilots from every Nation inside giant Robots, fighting and killing giant alien monsters, Jumanji, or good Wizards fighting bad Wizards, kids finding super weapon and fighting aliens, Alien invasions, Mythical heroes fight mythical villains, Wolf becoming kid's best friend and saves him, Vampire hero kills bad Vampires, etc., etc. But really do hope they continue to make these Pacific Rim movies until they run out of Kaiju and since they're of Alien origin, there could be at least 3 or 4 more left 🤔🙂 😏Just sayin'
