- This is a question we get asked a lot and in this video @ethanhuffsup explains the pros and cons of upgrading your SUP fin on an iSUP touring or race board. While this video is mostly about fins for inflatable SUP boards, the same logic applies for hard (composite) standup paddle boards.

Thank you for your feedback Olivier...I will see how my HYPR LVR 14x26 will perform with the stock fin...and maybe change for a Ray.
I am using both the Tiger and Ray on my Airline and Allstar. I love the Tiger for the pivot turns. The Ray is not bad but requires a bit more pressure on the back. But definitely you will feel the difference with the SB stock fin, not only because the size but also rigidity. Ray is my favorite in choppy or strong upwind conditions. Would be curious to feel the difference with the condor
Starboard definitely has fallen on their fin technology compared to the advancements in their boards. I have a SIC weedless fin and I also have been using a FCS touring fin. I want to get a new fin for my Naish Maliko, but most of my training is just distance training and dealing with the amount of wake boarding boats throwing huge waves all over the lake. Getting such odd wave patterns makes having the large surface area of the touring fin much easier in keeping stable, I can tell by my how sore my hip flexer muscles, and leg muscles are using the smaller fin vs the larger fin even when I get back from a long paddle.
