I've seen a few of your reviews and like them a lot. Concise, clear, and informative with good b-roll as needed. Plus you approach your reviews with an ear toward the types of questions your audience might have. Very well done.
+Lawrence Pritchard Thanks a lot! I try not to BS with these reviews and yes! I'm really just siting and talking about the questions that I had prior to purchasing. I figure other people would wonder the same!
Thanks for comparing to the Befree head. Confirmed what I thought about the jittery Befree. Might change my order now to the MHXPRO-2W. Quick and to the point - good job.
Totally agree with your choice. I've had both and the XPRO is hands down the better video head. The reason I returned the Be Free Live is because locking it in place with a good sized DSLR on it wasn't possible. My 6D would always tilt down no matter how hard I tightened the lock. This doesn't happen with the XPRO even though both heads are rated for about the same weight. Also, the tiny knobs didn't lend themselves to quick/simple unlocks and locks. Wish I had seen your review before I went through purchasing both. Thanks for putting your honest review out there.
It's all relative. If your current head is too heavy and this one offers less weight, then that's a win. If you need something even lighter, then look at the Manfrotto Befree Live head amzn.to/2JG6gsP
Love it.... I'm actually comparing these two right now, you made some really good points - I'm also leaning towards the XPRO. another bonus is the RC2 plates. I put those sh**s on everything.
The Upper Left USA good to know. I just picked up the befree live but didn't like the long mounting plate it came with. Probably gonna swap the head for the xpro 2. Thanks man!
Hi, thanks for your review. I own a MVH500AH head and a Nitrotech N8 head. I need to get another small/lightweight head for my video monopod. I'm wondering if I should just get another MVH500AH or get an MHXPRO-2W and attach a 501 QR adapter. Have you tried the MVH500AH?
I haven't tried the MVH500AH but own the MVH502AH which is very similar. In terms of size and weight, I would say that the MHXPRO-2W is noticeably smaller.
Since you are one of the few people who happen to have this combination, how far can the legs close with the XPRO head on it? probably not as tight as the befree, but do you happen to have a side by side picture? Would be super thankful
The legs close just fine and as they’re supposed to, but I’m assuming you mean when the legs are inverted into the storage position. If so, only the Befree head will allow you to do this. There really is no point in trying to do this with the XPRO head since it’ll make the legs spread so you might as well leave the legs open and not even try closing them after each use. When using the XPRO head with Befree legs, I just close the legs after use as if I was using any other tripod legs and go, no inverting.
I got it.... after much reviewing, battled this one against the be free live and the 502AH, and this is the best head with the most features is an appropriate size to travel with.... your review was the best - so thank you
Nice review bro, very informative. Planing to purchase that same head but im deciding on the tripod to use. I have trouble looking for answers if the Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W head COMPATIBLE with the MANFROTTO BEE FREE LIVE tripod?? The stability. I noticed on your review, what tripod are you using bro on that head? Maybe you could help me :) :) :) Thank you in advance. God Bless
I typically use this head on one of the Befree legs that I have wether it’s the Live or normal version. The Live legs are more convenient because they have the leveling base but it doesn’t make much sense to pick up that tripod for just the legs since it’s pretty expensive. The regular Befree shows up used for cheap quite often so I would recommend going that route to save some money. Watch this review that I made comparing the two Befree models ruclips.net/video/BMz2dXdyFzs/видео.html
Really nice video. Just got the befree live to go travel with, but have to admit, it is not nearly as stable as i was hoping, especially when the center column is extended. Do you think that returning it, and getting the carbon fiber one with the head you are describing in this video would be an improvement over the befree live? With the carbon fiber, it might be a wash as far as weight goes?
In honesty, I don't think going with the carbon fiber befree legs is going to help you much with your concerns. I've learned to live with the legs and completely moved away from the befree live head. Now when I want lighter weight, I just throw the Manfrotto 502HD ( amzn.to/2wyXaKF ) head on the befree legs. I'd rather get the results of the bigger head as, in my opinion, it is drastically better. If you're not subscribed, I'd like to invite you to do so because I have videos of the 502HD and MVH500AH head scheduled for publishing soon.
I only owned the MVH500AH for a very short period of time so can’t say too much about it. It is smoother than the MHXPRO-2W but it is also bigger and slightly heavier. They both also use different basplates. It just depends on your needs.
+Paolo Massa as in this head on the Befree live legs? It performs well. The Befree live legs have the extra convenience of the bowl so that's good. It's a good set up if you have the legs.
Thanks +The Upper Left Usa for your reply. I already have the Befree Live Video legs and I was thinking to pair it with the Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W. I was also thinking to pair such a video head with the new Manfrotto Xpro+ Monopod (the 5 sections one). Have you tried any of those new Manfrotto Video Monopods?
I think that depends on how much you plan on moving around with the head. The mhxpro-2w is definitely smaller and easier to transport but the 502HD is definitely a better head. That being said, I took it with me to Japan and hated having to drag it around everywhere. So, it's up to you. I generally pick the 502HD if I don't have to constantly travel.
That was my reasoning behind looking into the mhxpro 2w I was thinking the 502 might would be overkill with my smaller cameras and could see it being an issue when moving around.
So for traveling and doing fast pace work like a wedding, you would go with xpro no question? Or is the 502 that much better at smooth pans? Everyone says its amazing at panning but the weight of that on the Sirui (which I'm ordering 2 of) seems too heavy or slow. But I have no fluid heads purchased to really prove my point lol.
The 502 is probably better in every way, but it is a good size larger/heavier. The Sirui will hold the weight fine, but don't expect the Sirui to work like a tripod. The legs are only a few inches long. If you're working on a slope or just really uneven surfaces, it essentially becomes a monopod as you won't be able to let it stand by itself.
Could you please tell me if you believe that this Manfrotto head could work with the Sirui t-025x tripod. If that could work then this might be a great combination of run n' gun, travel, take it anywhere with you video tripod... Cool video. Please let me know your honest opinion...
The head just uses a 3/8"-16 female thread to attach to whatever may have the equivalent male thread. If your tripod has the male thread then it fits. If it has the 1/4"-20 then just get an adapter. It's very unlikely that this head wouldn't work with a set of tripod legs.
Thank you for your answer. I just try to find a good compact tripod with a video head for travel and easy to carry anywhere and Be free live does not convince with its video head performance... Honeslty there is nothing outhere to fit a good video travel/run n' gun kind of tripod. This head seems good... Anyway, thank you for your time.
That is right man, creativity and passion first, gear second. The head seems good enough for me . Do you have any suggestions on compact tripods? I have a Protactic 450 great bag and I would like a combo to fit this bag.
I have the same bag and usually use it to travel. As far as tripod legs, when I travel I usually switch between the Befree legs ( ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=BMz2dXdyFzs ) and the Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 ( amzn.to/2kghrPw ). Neither are perfect. The Befree legs aren't as rigid and the MT190CXPRO4 is larger and heavier. For my next trip, I'm thinking of just taking my Sirui EP-204S ( ruclips.net/video/YGXuYySlpno/видео.html ) and seeing how that goes.
It does not fold up as originally designed with the various BeFree heads. When I use this, I just close the legs and go. You give up the few inches of compactness for the better head.
Hi I have a problem and don't laugh... I can't unscrew this head from my tripod 755xb. I mean it wont go off. I unscrew the 3 screws but it wont move. Does someone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
The only thing that I could think of was the anchor/anti-twist screws but I guess you've already tried that. Try cranking the pan lock down and turn counter clockwise. Other than that, I don't know of another way of removing the head without damaging it.
I've tried to block the orizontal pan screw and it didn't work. But it worked just now, I sprayed some lubricant, anti rust spray on that junction line between the head and the legs and that do the trick. Have no ideea how it got so tied. thanks again for your time.
+KC_ink_addict Yes you can! That's the exact set up that I used while I was in Vietnam. I would recommend getting the regular Befree over the Befree one though, it has a high max load capacity.
@@HaiTran just means that lever ( on mine when it arrives) needs cutting down . a black lever as long as that doing night time photography is a recipe for disaster ,
@@HaiTran theres only one panning lever on it , its about a foot long , im sure i could take a bit off ( im not concerned about the guarantee being void ) but i use long lenses that are leverage in themselves iv tried a friends video head it was fine without using the lever once the right tension is set .

I had to weigh my current fluid head because it is to heavy for traveling but this head doesn't seem much lighter.

Good to know Buddy. I've recently bought the MHXPRO-2W and I really love it. Never tried any others though. Cheers!
It’s a good one to start with 👍🏽
@@HaiTran Thanks for the good advice Hai. Much appreciated. 👍🙂

I bought these configuration but I can't fit it inside red case that comes with tripod. How did you transport it?
I just hand held or strapped it on my backpack.
Great review, looking to get the xpro head now. What tripod legs do you recommend pairing this with for travel?
I usually put this head on my BeFree legs since I already have that tripod. This is the lightest video setup that I have.
The Upper Left USA good to know. I just picked up the befree live but didn't like the long mounting plate it came with. Probably gonna swap the head for the xpro 2. Thanks man!
The BeFree Live legs would be nice to have with this head because it has the leveling ball. Good luck 👍
great head i had to cut down the tyre lever to save my eyes during night photograpy . it works fine cut to just below the grip handle .. be carefull
Whatever works 👍🏾

With this set up there is no folding. Just close the legs and go or take it apart.
I meant folding the legs for storage like how you can leave the befree live head on to put it in its bag
Same answer. You're not going to be able to flip the legs up like normal. You can, it just won't be flush. I just leave it as is.
my thoughts entirely , with that tyre iron chopped down to 6"
