I love this tripod, not as much for the weight but for the size! Main issues I had last time shooting, when I fully extend on the flimsy legs and try to do a pan, it kinda just wobbles.
I got the One version just for a lightweight and tiny static second camera solution. Holds the a7sii and 70-200 with room to spare but use it for wide shots. Don't fancy carrying two Benros around because they are bulky and far too heavy.
Ditto for the spirit level you're not alone man! It really annoys me hahaha. On another note, is the big red ring under the plate wobbly for you as well (the one that says "fluid drag system")? I am considering returning it but wondering if it's by design or I got a faulty one
Do a vid on your current set up. Would love to set what lens/monitor you're rocking for a "run&gun" style set up that you kind of touch on in this video. Always sick content, thanks pal.
Its well worth its money. Plus if you get the backpack with the side pocket, the whole thing fits in the pocket. Perfect for hiking, sporting events and when you want to go low profile filming,
Hey man. I have this tripod and can confirm that mine has the same shift in level when tightening the head. To fix it, I try to make tiny adjustments to the camera's positioning while tightening. Other than that, I love this tripod.
Well, i have seen it in the store and i didn't found it very stable. The tripot is good, but the head is wiggling a bit, you for sure will get a unwanted movement with a 50mm lens on your camera. So i have choosen for a K&F concept with a smalrig fluid head. It cost $50 more but it is a better quality that you need when you want to make good pan or tilt movement.
PS - for heavier camera set ups try a longer base plate and then you can get an almost perfectly balanced camera even with a small head. I has a sony a7s with 70-200 2.8 and a Shogun on the S2 and it was surprisingly good when balanced out.
Great review. Could you please check and tell me if the fluid head can be removed so that I can mount another fluid head from manfrotto. I'd like to use Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head just so that I can have the same small plates for my Gimbal and my video tripod.
Owned since day one of it's release! Can't live without it! All tripods have limitations; the perfect on has not been invented yet, Also own Sachtler, O'Connor and Cartoni 100mm ball tripods. There is a learning curve with locking a ball head properly. Still it beats a Mitchell Plate!
Have you tried the Benro S2? In Asia Manfrotto take forever to distribute new gear and im really on the fence about the two. Ive only tired the Benro and i think its fantastic - better than my manfrotto 504... Thoughts?
Hey Harv! First of all, great job on your videos! I would have a quick question if I may. I just bought the Rhino slider ( what a piece of engineering!) and when mount it to my current tripod it tipped over. So I was wondering if the Be Free Manfrotto can support the Rhino slider with an Sony a7iii and a lens of roughly 600g. I am asking you because I know you have all of these things. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work !!! :)
Hello and thank you for your Videos! I have a question. Do i have to fully open the screws of the fluid head, to use it? Or can i open it only a little bit to produce more resistence for the pan? because i bought this tripod and when im not fully open the screws, there are points, where its not smooth, where the head hangs just a little bit. Do only i habe this issue? So maybe my tripod is not okay? thank you!
+Gadjo88 I know what you mean, it's definitely not as easy to get the right amount of resistance for panning etc compared to larger non-travel tripods. I suppose that's just one of the trade offs of this tripod, I don't think there's anything wrong with yours :)
Got the same issue. I really regret to have bought this tripod, I think very overpriced... almost the same price as the Monopod MVM500A and it's far from being as well build. Feels cheap
Dude, you should check the benro travel angel aero4 is taller, cheaper and super fluid. I think is the best compact video tripod. I have one for a year and a half and is amazing!
you're honest in your assessment. i appreciate that. instead of this i bought a used carbon befree and also got a used xpro2w fluid head. just over 4lbs total weight (both may be discontinued now i think). very smooth pan/tilt action and uses QR plate which is convenient when doing combo photo/video for travel with relatively light rigs. only downside is leveling is done with legs, no ballhead. btw, i was very worried about thinnest tripod legs too and theyve held up through many mountain adventures except at highest weight (near 8lbs) at ~50 degrees for legs. then there is some undesired vertical movement.

Exactly
i also just bought it and testing it. I have a light rig of a6500 + smallrig + tascam DR40 and its fine. Good small beast.

Just purchased one through your link! Great review.
Hehe, love the way you present this. You funny, funny.

Great video man! Love my manfrotto 502ah fluid head and was looking for something on the go. Thanks for the review!
Only video I’ve seen, where you actually show how the plate is added!

Agree with all points in the review though. It isn't sausage fingers, its how it is.
I don't have this model, but have the 290 Aluminum, not so light but it is very sturdy.
Thanks for the honestly.
Its a great tripod, it's my first fluid head and works great for me.

Great video!
have you checked out the Benro S7?
hey Harv, Can you campare this tripod and the Benro Aero S4 they are both for travel videography and none had made that comparison!
How would I go about taking portrait photos with this certain tripod head

Andrei Gold Thank you very much for your reply!

Does this have a monopod feature?
How to mount my 5d3 in vertical (portrait orientation) on this tripod?
Ha ha, like my conclusion?
its not a real conclusion.....so should i buy it or not?

The BeFree is lighter, more compact, and currently cheaper. I'd still choose the BeFree as a *travel* tripod. It's a whole kg lighter!
Does it extend high enough to shoot a 6ft person (182cm) at their eye level?
My question exactly
Nice
does it have a removable leg for monopod use?
Adventures of Graeme and Ang no , if you want one , buy the benro aero 2 or aero 4
@@ranjanajaiswal5982 thanks, didnt see this reply
@@adventuresofgraemeandang8051 no problem! 😊
